I think I agree with the fact that Odin's adopting-children-from-your-enemy cycle is now continued. IDK if they planned this or not from the beginning, but it sure does beautifully rhyme. Its like poetry, it rhymes

They 100% planned this considering Norse mythology is all about cycles and repeating events. And even with what you said, Norse mythology can be divided by the prose Edda and of course the Poetic Edda meaning a lot of the stories actually come from poetry.

It wasn’t quite that Gorr died from being wounded in battle, they mentioned the sword infected and corrupted him and he would soon die without it.
Yeah from what I picked up the sword was killing him but them destroying it probably inflicted a fatal wound to his soul or something
Didn’t they say that the sword already killed him and the only reason he was still walking and kicking was because of the sword?
The Necrosword corrupts and slowly kills the user. Gorr was not dead yet but he was dying. They destroyed the Necrosword because he would be powerless without it.

I don’t know how they missed this, but there is already a character named Love (technically Mistress Love) and she is literally a child of Eternity. I’m assuming that’s who it’s supposed to be, but who knows for sure

Do you think they will do "Then and Now". That seems to be where they based a LOT of the Eternity lore. Granting wishes like Then, the center of the universe like the house of ideas is the center of creation, etc etc
I think they may have overlooked it because the character of "Mistress Love" doesn't seem to have a whole lot to do with the new character. Their powers/abilities are notably different (Mistress Love can manipulate emotions and the only power we've seen from the kid is a laser blast) and Mistress Love is an "Abstract Entity" as old as existence itself, whereas the kid "Love" is very clearly supposed to be the resurrected spirit of a dead girl who is only now infused with some kind of cosmic power. These characters don't really have anything in common other than a connection to Eternity and the name
A thought about Love: Whenever she first appeared, her appearance in the water reflected that of a being made of stars. That reminded me of a Marvel character called Singularity, who I know is a new-ish character who appeared in the A-Force books.
Eternity is also pretty much made of stars ( and callsback to Guardians of Galaxy 2 )

I personally like to believe Love, is the MCU’s version of Singularly. A cosmic being with no set origin in the comics yet, and looks very similar to how Love’s reflection looked in the water

What about singularity? In the reflection in the water she looks exactly like her with the same flowing hair. Not to mention the cosmic abilities. She also has teleporting abilities and relations to the multiverse which really fits the theme of Phase 4. Singularity is also young in the comics fitting the new avengers theme (America, Ms. Marvel, etc.)
The Star Brand has a fun caveat though: The user doesn't have access to that limitless power at will. The Star Brand only ever makes them just strong enough to overcome their opponent. While a user would be on the cosmic scale when fighting Celestials or the likes, when faced with some Hawkeye, they're at most somewhere around peak human.

@@BrenGamerYT Eh, better have it set up to do explicitly that than just have characters with fixed abilities vary wildly for no reason. And since they still have to use the powers correctly it isn't an automatic curb-stomp.
My guess was that Eternity transformed into Love, granting Gorr's wish but not entirely. Simply because of the first time we see her is a reflection of Love's silhouette looking similar to Eternity.
there is another option with that design choice. i cant speak on the details of the character but look at an image of Singularity (marvel).

MatPat. You're missing the fact that there is a character named "Love" in the marvel comics. Mistress Love to be exact. She is basically a cosmic force like Lady Death, Eon, The Living Tribunal, The Watchers, The One Above All (basically the king of the celestials), Infinity, and ETERNITY. She is just on a lower tire than those whom we saw as statues in the gate to Eternity
A remake of the Disney Hercules movie as part of the MCU would certainly be interesting, but now I started thinking about the implications of this.
The movie would obviously take place in ancient Greece and show Hercules' backstory. It wouldn't be the first time an MCU movie takes place in the past (Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain Marvel, half of Eternals), so this wouldn't be a big deal.
More interesting: Marvel's version of Hercules, while not entirely mythologically accurate, is certainly much closer than the Disney version. How will this movie handle Hercules' parentage? Will the MCU acknowledge that Megara is eventually killed by Hercules? Those are the big two questions that I can think of.

No I think this is a little different… two characters both live action being made by the same company is a bit confusing, which is different than there being past iterations. I mean there’s tons of Hercules’s already. I get what you’re saying though
The difference is that they’d be in two franchises under the same company. Those examples you give of Batman and the Spider-Man’s are all technically variations of the rights bought under certain companies. And even with spider man Marvel worked with Sony to make it canon that their alternate universe variations. So who is to say Disney won’t make the Live action Hercules the same way? 🤷🏻♀️
Based off of her cosmic reflection when she was first created I think she might turn into a character known as Singularity. She’s a v powerful younger character who goes on to be a member of the A-Force during secret wars. This could play into the whole star brand thing but I definitely think she fits the bill for Singularity

Well. A Venomling was left in the MCU thanks to Sony's Venom spending some time there. So Knull coming seems a bit of an inevitability imo.

Ima be honest, the story was a bit wonky but taika was trying a lot of new stuff and it felt very unique like ragnarok and I hope he will do more stuff in the mcu! It was really fun to watch though

That’s not such a big deal. Sure, it’s a magic weapon, but it isn’t enchanted like Mjolnir. Only Mjolnir requires those to be worthy to wield it

I am going to do this every time somebody calls Hercules a Greek hero. He is Roman, not Greek. The Greek version is Heracles. I know it makes no difference to the video as a whole, and they are effectively the same character, but it's a nitpicky thing that always bugs me.
i was thinking that as well, like, why is the Greek form of Zeus calling his son by his roman name, i guess at the end of the day Hercules is what the character is more commonly known as by the world but still an interesting point

Oh my goodness, thank you. I was so happy to see Heracles in the film but when they used his Roman name I just got so annoyed, especially since they seem to be teasing him to be a new big bad, I really feel like they should’ve gotten his name right. I do wonder whether they knew his Greek name and just went with the Roman one as it’s more well known, or if they just couldn’t be bothered doing research.

I’ve also seen people say that “Love” is also “Singularity” which could make sense with the “Young Avengers” set up. Singularity’s background is also not too well known.

There's another potential character from the comics that wasn't mentioned who also resembled love, that being singularity.
when she showed up in the movie, her reflection was that of a young cosmic girl which highly resembled the look of singularity from the comics.
singularity has the ability to rewrite reality on a cosmic level, which introduced captain hydra a few years ago in the comics.
It would be insane if she is what resets the multiverse at the end of secret wars in the MCU

I agree. When I first saw her reflection, I thought that she was supposed to be Singularity, and I honestly still think that she’s Singularity. Or will become Singularity in the future.
She could end (wiping the slate clean) reboot (Maybe?) or fix (restoring the universes that had merged/ incursions) the MCU post Secret-Wars.

I just realised that it may be that the MCU is having its further future set up as we have a iron man’s daughter, wandas children and love could all be being set up as a future avengers

I understood that it was setting up the next phase and the future overarching villan of the next fue phases what I meant was that it seems like they are setting up a team for after the end of the next overarching villan as if we take the years that it has taken to finish the infinity saga that means that the child actors set up now will be teens at the end of the next overarching villan and then they have set up a new team.
TL:DR I think that marvel have a team set up for the end of the new avengers.

When Love was first reborn, her reflection (in the water) is very similar to a comic character named "Singularity" from the "A-Force" title. Story wise there's nothing that I know resembles what it is in the movie but her design and powers are pretty similar.

I think Gorr wished nothing bad will ever happen to his daughter again when she gets revived, so she now has super powers that will protect her no matter what.
Is it just me that is triggered that Zeus' son is Hercules not Heracles. Hercules is Jupiter's son not Zeus'.
Gorr had a son in the comics so I’m assuming they just switched the genders around especially because both gorr’s son in the comics and gorr’s daughter in the mcu play similar roles by giving gorr his motivation

I was thinking Gorr's daughter when she's brought back could be the actual entity Love (Mistress Love) from the comics and that's why they call he Love in the movie. Not that she's going have the same "powers" Ms. Marvel has already laid the ground work for having different power sets for characters.

I thought that Hercules would be a part of this new "Dark Avengers" team, and would name it after his father's favorite weapon -- the Thunderbolts (instead of naming the team after Thunderbolt Ross)

One thing that annoyed me about the post credit scene in love and thunder, and this is quite nitpicky but I since we were shown Zeus and not Jupiter his son should’ve been Heracles and not Hercules as the ladder is the Roman equivalent.
Honestly, I just headcanon that the Gods are referred to by the name most of their followers know them as.
Since everyone knows him as Hercules and not Heracles, that's how the gods address him as.

It's worth mentioning there is also a character in the comics named Love, with a connection to Eternity. She's one of the abstract entities-- like Eternity, Death, Infinity, and Oblivion, but not quite as powerful. She's more Eon-level of power. However, she typically appears in a couplet alongside Hate. It's not unusual for MCU to drastically alter characters though, so it's entirely possible they're using Love as a vague inspiration for a character destined to become an abstract being or something like that.
Alternative theory: Kobik. Surprised this one wasn't in the video, actually. In the comics, Kobik is a Cosmic Cube that's grown sentience and takes the form of a small female child. Probably most famous for returning Captain America's youth (and making him HYDRA in the process, thanks to some meddling by Red Skull). Now in MCU, Cosmic Cube has been kinda adapted but with very different rules and was even renamed the Tesseract, so it wouldn't really make sense for the Tesseract to birth Kobik. But a child born from Eternity, who in the MCU is specifically used as an unlimited power that grants wishes? Yeah, that sounds like Kobik...
Or singularity, the actual image used for the reflection

Love seems to be a new version of the Eternity Cube from the Secret Invasion comic run, just not attached to the red skull this time

I'm surprised you didn't mention that it's actually Heracles in Greek, but we know him by the Roman name, in large part thanks to the animated Disney movie. So I guess it's not a surprise that the new Disney movie also called him Hercules, even though it was freaking ZEUS himself who was calling his son. If ANYBODY was going to get it right, it should've been him.
I'm gonna say this I really liked Gor as a villain, also since eternity showed up I'm now curious if they'll bring the one above all into the series, it would be interesting and I personally would be fine with it as long as he doesn't do much like in marvel since he is "god" and doesn't intervene much since only a handful of people are even aware of its existence (I'm pretty sure spider man is one of them)
to be honest, peter was one of the worthy people being able to notice the one above all's existence
I'd really like a (mini-)theory on where the screaming goats went and where they came from. 10/10 most important characters of the entire movie.

Great theory as always Matpat. But what do you think of the fact that Chris Hemsworth said that he won’t let his daughter who plays Love act anymore until she is 18. So they will either have to recast her or stop the character. And it might make his daughter upset to have her character recast and since Chris hemsworth is so important to the mcu they might not want to make her daughter upset. So what do you think their solution might be?

However something else you overlooked is that Love being the child of Eternity may be a Protector as well. One that has powers of Enigmatic Force...
What I'm getting at is Love could be a version of Captain Universe.

I have a weird thing i wanted to say about jane's death that i liked. In norse mythology odin whispered something into the dead baldur's ear and it is never said what it is he said, and my mythology packed brain saw a parallel when jane whispered something we didint hear into thor's ear. What I took from the ending of the movie is a memory from a character introduced in the comic A-Force called Singularity, who is a cosmic level being that even has the same appearance as “Love”’s reflected cosmic appearance.
One thing I really liked in the movie was just spotting two cool looking Celestials just chilling in Omnipotence City. For me it really helped bring things together. Made me realize how big the MCUs universe is. Everything interconnects.

Gorr didn't die because he was hurt in the battle, he died because the sword curse's it's user. So when it was destroyed the curse killed him. Second, he didn't come up with the plan to go to eternity the sword told him what to do so it could fulfill it's only purpose.

However, the scene in which Love's reflection can be seen has a shocking similarity in appearance to the Marvel character of Singularity. This character is depicted as a young girl in the comics and even seems as if it could be connected to the Multiverse of Madness film given her comic book origins

3:09 Speaking of wielding Stormbreaker, you should do a theory on whether or not you have to be worthy to wield Stormbreaker similarly to Mjlonir because apparently there’s conflicting information that supports both sides.

there is no enchantment on stormbreaker so anyone can hold it as long as they're strong enough.
I don't remember any info saying Stormbreaker has a judginess, it's just really powerful and need[ed] a strong user.

When I first saw the movie and saw the wish at the end with eternal, I thought "what if someone close to iron man who if they could, would wish to bring him back to life, got the wish, he could be reintroduced to the mcu" they could use that as a way to bring him back
How is no one talking about how Hercules isn't a Greek demi-god? He is the roman version of Heracles, they have basically everything the same, but the mitology is different.

I am a huge fan of The Star Brand. I did not know they brought it into 616 for a second time. I thought that the Collecter had isolated it when that dimentions Earth had been brought into the main time line. There was a big cross over event called "Starblazers" centering around Wendel Vaughn aka Quasar. Thank you for telling people about one of my favorite comic book concepts. Love is a character in the comics, Mistress love is one of the abstract entities and a spawn of eternity. She is part of the third tier in the “cosmic hierarchy” revealed to Thanos in Infinity War (I think).

I feel like the post credit scene was also a bit of a meta commentary on the movie itself because the whole time I was watching the movie all I could think of was how much more silly it was than previous movies and how some fans might think of it as a disappointment, especially because it was the first 4th sequel to a solo movie in the mcu.
I don’t think Disney would let Marvel use their version Hercules at the same time they plan to make their version of Hercules. I love the idea of the Disney version and Marvel version being the same one. That would be amazing!
I just want to say, I know that this isn't exactly greek mythology, but Herakules wasn't actually a big god, he gaurded the Rock of Gibraltar and was kinda left there after becoming a god, though he was the god of strength and heroes.
This is definitely a fun thing to explore in the future for the MCU. Herc's intro to the universe was absolutely perfect. I was expecting him... But I just didn't know when so that is going to be fun.
