    I can confirm that the crowd is in stunned shock. I just saw them Saturday night for the first time, after being a fan for more than 10 years. I was truly entranced. Never experienced that feeling at a concert. The lighting guy should be a listed band member. The stimulation from the synchronized lights and music was truly incredible. I may have been under the influence of the devils lettuce, however my sober brother experienced the same sense of euphoria, he thought he was high too 🤣 See them when you can, don’t come around often. It will change your life

    I haven't heard Meshuggah as "heavy" in several years now, but as a trance-inducing, hypnothic groove pulse. Love 'em.

    • @thewildhealer541
      @thewildhealer541 11 месяцев назад +3

      Spot on bro. It's so hypnotizing I just get lost in their rhythms. They play so damn downtuned it just becomes the normal after a while but they are definitely one of the heaviest bands ever lol.
      And a bit off-topic but Per Nilsson did such a good job filling in for Thordendal on these live shows.

    Dancers of A Discordant System, pretty pretty please! Seriously it's a song you have to hear, it's one of the most common fav favorites for a reason. If you want some older Meshuggah I'd also recommend Future Breed Machine. After you've heard the original studio version of FBM you NEED to check out some of the live videos of the song coming from this most recent tour this year. They slow it down so it's twice as heavy, and the light show is insane.

  • @darkphoenix2

    I think there's different kinds of heavy, and Meshuggah is a "hold you down and paralyze you" kind of heavy.
    It's hard to really get into this band just because of their style. A lot of songs can sound similar to me, when I like the variety of bands like Opeth, Periphery, and Tesseract. But I have to say, when I'm pissed off and I don't want to dwell on the thoughts in my head, I can put on Meshuggah and just let the music distract me without trying to find some way to ignore what I'm feeling.

    There are NO words for experiencing them in concert. TOOL is a spiritual experience but Meshuggah transcends the 80th dimension. Their lights are absolutely blinding and criminally assaulting in person, and no video on the internet captures that feeling.
    Check out their Future Breed Machine video from The Myth this year. That show was professionally recorded and will likely result in a DVD in the coming year or 2
    Also…the silhouettes are a huge part of the experience. I was on rail last month at their show and caught a glimpse of Jen’s eyes a couple times and he is infinitely more TERRIFYING when not in silhouette mode. I thought Dez Fafarra (Devildriver/Coal Chamber) was the most terrifying frontman but Jens is on another level. It feels as though he is possessed by an outside force

I admit they are talented, influential, and loved, but they don't do it for me. If I had to put my finger on it, I think it's a combination of the djent "droning," the over-synchopation, and the monotone scream vocals (most of all). There's so much repetition I find myself dozing off. There, I said it. 😀
