    I have a Taycan RWD. Driven Tesla S and Y, X.. Not overly impressed other than range. The Taycan is a truly well-made vehicle and great in every way. Doesn’t fart or burp but made with pride. Perhaps not as fast as Taycan S, turbo or Some Teslas , but it is plenty fast.
    Beautiful can and a joy to drive!

    As a Taycan owner, nice review. What I dont agree on, is the Sport Turismo. For me the Sedan is by far the most beautiful one. That froggy back of the ST is not something I specially like.

      They're both gorgeous cars and I definitely envy you your car. The ST just better fits what I love in a car, but I've always been a fan of sports estates, such as the RS6 - there's just something about the sportiness, the practicality and the prestige being merged on a car.

    good review but the comparison should be to the 4S modeL - but that road noise in the Tesla!!! Hope you have a good sound system!

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  2 года назад

      The 4S is nearly £30k more than the Tesla LR, making a comparison even more unfair than this was with a £20k difference, but I do agree that it would be a better choice in terms of performance. Also, crucially, I only had access to the rear-wheel-drive model. Next time!
      The road noise difference was amazing! I didn't appreciate just how poor the Tesla road noise was until I spent a day in the Porsche. The sound system in the Tesla is exceptional, but it still isn't enough to hide it!

    I have had a Taycan for nearly 2 years. I completely agree with you that the weakest design element was that center console storage area under your arm. The front storage area can be made more practical with an option in the Porsche way that you talk about at 11:50. Also there is a three seat option in the rear which they call 2+1 as it is a very narrow center seat however it gives you a 40 20 40 split one folding now, I really like that.
    Thanks for the review, I hope your daughter enjoyed the vehicle and her prom

      @PaulsViewsReviews  Год назад

      She did, thanks.
      That centre console/armrest design was just bizarre in how poorly it worked alongside an otherwise really well designed interior. Of course there’s an option to fix some of it, at least! £€$!
      A third (ish) rear seat is always good to have as an emergency option so glad it is available.
      Thanks for watching.

    The sound is not just an artsy way of adding noise, it is very important in congested areas with lots of bicycles and pedestrians. I think this is actually the main reason for its implementation.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  Год назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting.
      You’re correct in saying that the sound is dual purpose - both to sensorially engage the driver but also to let people outside of the car know you’re there.
      My Tesla makes no sound and it can be awkward when you come up behind people walking in the road, unaware you’re behind them. I never sound the horn, as they’d jump out of their skin, so a humming noise would be handy. Even brand new Model 3s only make a noise when in reverse.

    You cannot compare a Tesla M3 with a Porsche Taycan.. they are leagues apart.. Porsche Taycan is in the stratosphere when it comes to ride quality, luxury feel of the materials and overall quality... I drive a Tesla MY now and previously owned M3 and all I can say... those cars are way too expensive for the actual product that we receive, in all sincerity.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  Год назад +1

      In retrospect, I would agree that they are not directly comparable, but I only found this out by conducting the comparison.
      However, with prices rising on the Tesla, there is now 'just' £20k between the cars, which is a lot of money, of course, but that's actually only an extra 35% over the cost of the Tesla to buy the Taycan. In comparison, this almost makes the Taycan a bargain (in the loosest sense of the word!)

    I would urge you to go test a heavily spec'ed turbo. It's like a totally different car all together. The base model is slow (compared to what a lot of people are getting used to now), the turbo is like being kicked in the back by a horse, every time you floor it, in almost any kind of speed. The base seats are bland. Far better than the Model 3 seats of course, but the best seats, in my opinion are the 18-way seats. They are extremely good. With adjustments all over the place. The area beneath the HVAC-screen can be optioned with storage space, but since the car you tested had close to no options, even the dirt cheap tire repair kit, with compressor was skipped, which is kind of silly, that area was unused. That option isn't expensive either, and get you some additional storage space, and some convenient bag hooks in the boot. And also with air suspension, you would get another level of comfort. And if the car had the PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) you would also get another level of sporty feel, keeps the car completely flat, even in heavy bends and roundabouts. RAS (Rear axle steering) is also another pretty nice option. Car turns on silly narrow roads. And it's even more stable in high speed. Like when you do quick file changes at highway roads for instance.
    Also worth pointing out. If you have a car optioned with a proper stereo system, like the Burmester (which is amazing), you would not have a lot of space in the lower boot area.
    I currently have a Taycan turbo with just about all options worth getting. And I've tested so many cars, but non come close to it. It's insanity on wheels, when you want that, with sporty handling and abundance of power, but with a flick of a mode dial (which I also would highly recommend having), it's smooth, comfy, and a great place to put down serious distances.
    I've driven just about everything Tesla has to offer (I've had two Model S'es), and they are lightyears a part. I've also driven just about every Taycan model. The base with few options, the cross turismo 4 (base) with some options, the cross turismo 4S with medium options, another turbo with less option than mine, another 4S with less option and other options than some of the others. So I've pretty much tested all options and tried all different trim levels (all but the new GTS and the turbo S), but to be fair the turbo S and turbo will behave so close to identical besides launch, that I wouldn't pay all that extra for 3 seconds of more power, when you stop and put it into launch. After that they are both 625hp. Which is way more power than you need, and even for track use, it's crazy. I've given a couple of GT3's a run for their money. Evedently the Taycan turbo S has the 12th fastest time around the Nürburgring among the road cars, of cours. I find that very interesting. Because it's not a track car, but it works very well as one if you fancy a go every now and then.

    Really enjoyed your video review Paul. I was admiring your hair lol Thinking Yep ... That's on the list of things to do in a few years. I agree with your final conclusion the Tesla Build quality doesn't feel like a £57K car! That is what I have an issue with spending that sort of money. I felt that when i drove my uncles M3P , however he will have had very little depreciation, so in that sense money well invested!
    I do want to know your thoughts on the reason why you bought the audio Q7 , and then downsized to a much smaller M3L. Again two very different classes in cars. I understand you had the opportunity as part of the salary sacrifice and that was the driving force for your decision. However if you did not have that option would you have kept your Q7 , ( Was it better or worse than the A6 estate ? ) Did it chew through tyres ?
    I now have a family of 4 and a small dog and just trying to weighing what is the perfect family car ... Anyway thanks again for the video, I look forward to seeing more uploads. This is my entertainment between baby feeds every 3 hours lol ;)

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  2 года назад +1

      Hi Richard. It's a strange thing - I was perfectly happy with the Tesla; in fact I loved it! Now, after 24 hours in the Porsche, the difference between the two is really apparent. It's not that the Tesla build quality is bad, because it really isn't; it's the detail difference between the two which is quite clear. The Tesla has everything you could need in a really smart and practical package but, where it is technologically fantastic, it isn't especially luxurious, whereas the Porsche really is luxurious, but the tech felt underwhelming. I agree that £57k is quite a reach for the Long Range Model 3, especially when the performance is within £5k of it and comes with some nice enhancements, but those residuals definitely soften the blow. After all, it's not what you pay for a car that matters, it's the cost of ownership. On that logic, it might be worth selling a vital organ and finding the extra money for the Taycan, but it's out of my budget at the moment and there's no chance whatsoever of it appearing on the company car list!
      Anyway, in answer to your questions, you're right in saying that the move to a company car dictated the Tesla over the Q7, as it has saved us over £4.5k a year. If, however, I did not have that option, I would definitely have kept the Q7 for longer as it really was a fab car. It was not a cheap thing to run, thanks to that thirsty 3.0d engine and high weight, but it was so luxurious (more than the Tesla) and yet incredibly practical. It's a really good question about the A6, though, as I loved that car and it was a fantastic thing to drive. It was actually my wife who pushed towards the Q7, because she liked the idea of 7 seats and our 2 kids each being able to take a friend if we went somewhere. Otherwise, I think I almost certainly would have bought another well-specced A6 Avant: apart from the 6th and 7th seat, it is every bit as luxurious and practical, but more fun to drive day-to-day (with better economy). No notably unusual tyre wear on the Q7, by the way. I believe the 1st generation was known for it but I didn't hear about it on the 2nd gen.
      Lastly, thanks for the feedback and I'm so chuffed I can entertain and inform. I also have 2 kids and a small dog so I suspect you may be my target audience!

    With the cost of the Taycan, you'd need to win the lottery to buy one, as you say. In Australia, the cheapest Porsche is just about double the price of the most expensive model 3, and nearly twice as slow.

    • @PaulsViewsReviews
      @PaulsViewsReviews  Год назад

      Wow! It amazes me just how much costs vary from one country (or continent) to another. I know logistics and import taxation probably dictates a large part but that much variance is just odd.
      Plus, we learnt this week that us countries that drive on the left, such as yourselves and us, won't be getting RHD Model S or X any time soon, if at all. Good job I like the Model 3!

    • @vasil7410
      @vasil7410 Год назад

      @@PaulsViewsReviews It's not just the cost of RHD production, shipping and taxes, otherwise UK prices would be similar. The local distributor in Australia makes a huge cut out of the price of Porsches. Same goes for BMW, Mercedes and Audi. They call it dealer markup in the US, which varies from region to region and take into account different market conditions. In Australia it works differently and this market margin is controlled at the central distributor level, country wide. I've only ever bought used German cars, usually a couple of years old, so just about new. I can't justify the cost from new, especially when I know I am getting ripped off. There is lots of ego driven buying in Australia for these cars and I am happy to let the previous owner wear the new car depreciation.

The difference in a Tesla in that you can interact with that technology on a large screen in a format that, thanks to all those other screens in our lives which you mention, we are familiar and comfortable with. Much better than trying to interact via a small screen and unintuitive menu system.
      It did take me a little while to get used to when I first got the Tesla, admittedly, but it now makes every other car screen look massively inadequate.
