- In today's video I share my full review of the Adidas Boston 12. Given the negative feedback I'd heard about the previous iterations this one was a shock and in a good way. Its handled everything I've thrown at it from Recovery runs to interval work on the track. If you enjoy the video please leave a like and consider subscribing.

finally found a shoetuber who uses kilometers 😅
Worth a watch just for that
Great review Ben. I've had the Boston 12 for a couple of months and agree with everything you've said. It's a surprisingly great addition to any runner's rotation. I would love to hear your views of=n the New Balance SC Trainer v2.
Agree on the laces and the insole. I just replaced both of them with the ones from a pair of old Puma Velocity Nitro 2 and that did the trick. Feels so much better now.
Man, I hope it does. I just went out on my first run and I'm not too impressed by them. Wondering if I just wasted money on them.
I'm enjoying the Boston 12's as well. For me, they work great for tempo/faster efforts. They don't feel the best on slower easy runs. Maybe that will change after they are broken in more
Big fan of Boston 12. Great for distance on both paved and packed trail. I had a hard time hitting fast paces on the track but tempo run was good.
Just last month got boston 11, enjoyed them as well, for long tempo runs.
Yeah, I’m going to get these shoes. The versatility and price are positives for me. I was a huge a Boston fan before the 10 and 11.
Thansk for the review ben, I got mine today, look forward to taking them out for a spin. Hopefully work well woth the superblast for more speedier sessions.
What do you think about the shoe 9 months later? 😂
Completely agree with the insole slipping and the laces. I switched them both out
Completely agree about the big toe issue. They are a fantastic shoe for the money etc but do get a bit of a hot spot on the underside of my big toe due to slipping. BUT what a great daily trainer! Adidas are smashing it atm!
I have the 11s. I usually only use it for tempo runs, but can't wait to try the 12s once I am done with the 11s. Great review.
Be great to get your opinions and feeling of the new NB SC Trainer V2. Always good to hear your advice and reviews ✌🏼
Good to hear your thoughts Ben, never tried these myself but heard a lot of positives from those who use the Boston
Yeah a new shoe for me too! Think it’s a good version to try my first :)
Hey Ben - top review and great to hear the positive words about them in the Run it three ways pod. Just wondering how would you compare this to the On Cloudmonster and if you had to choose one, which one would it be? Cheers 👍🏽
I agree with every point you make,I think I'll try different laces to get a better lock down but apart from that the shoe is perfect
Yeah I think I might have to try that. Just a few minor changes for the next version if anyone from adidas is listening 😂
Nearly 40 miles in my Boston 12's now and agree re the laces, but other than that im really enjoying them.
I'm a slow runner and they've felt great, did some threshold eork in them yesterday and really enjoyed them at faster speeds.
On the back of how much ive enjoyed tyem, I've just bought some Adios Pros 3's on offer. Cant wait to try them when this pants weather passes
Great review Ben, I'm sold! What do you use for your LSR's please? I'm currently using the Puma Velocity Nitro 2's, but think I need more cushioning.
Solid review ben!
Seriously tempted by this one 😍
Love your Videos ! ❤
I had the Boston x. The upper was the only thing I had issue with. Something about the lacing would always hurt my feet. I might give them a try, but they were a great disappointment.
Being a big Adizero fan (have the Prime X Strung, Adios Pro 3, and Takumi Sen 8), I got the Boston 11 at 50% off sale last winter but I just could not bond with it. It was too stiff, big, and bulky and I only used it for the occasional treadmill runs at the gym. I decided to give Boston 12 a shot based on the improvements that were made and it's a completely different shoe - a huge update. What's surprising is how fast it is or how it pushes you to pick up the pace. It just feels so good when picking up the speed. Out of all the daily trainers I have (and I have many - some which are noticeably lighter), I end up running faster and doing fast tempo, intervals, and threshold runs more on this than any other.
It's okay for easy/recovery but I don't think it's best suited for that like, say, the Triumph 20/21, Invincible Run 2/3, Nimbus 25, More v4, etc. To me, this is a great medium pace to speed workout shoe and can do long runs very well too. Looks like the Daily Trainer of the Year for me. I also like the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 a lot for this kind of running and workouts and I think it's a little more comfortable in the upper, but the Boston 12 is more propulsive and fun for the fast runs. As Ben says, it has a race shoe like feel.
The upper and tongue aren't the most inviting and accommodating when you step in, but that always seems to be the case with the Adizero line of shoes (except for the Prime X Strung, of course). But if Adidas tried to make the upper/tongue plush, then it wouldn't have the same speedy vibe. I have to fiddle with the lacing somewhat like I do on the Adios Pro 3 but, once dialed in and I start running, I don't notice the upper/tongue at all and just enjoy the ride underneath. It's all about the midsole, the geometry, and outsole with the Boston 12. It's an exciting and fun ride.
I bought Boston 12 and felt the same with the upper, tongue, and the heel counter. But the runners knot fix the fit issue for me. It's the upper durability that worry me the most 😅
@@ardkf what is the "runners knot" thx
thanks for the review mate
The light made it look like you were rocking the Ronaldo 9 ‘02 trim. Great vid cheers Ben!
Ahah, love it
Just bought the Endorphin Speed 3 but I’m tempted to purchase the Boston 12
Excellent review.👍Thanks. I agree with everything. I don't like the laces, nor the tongue.
Excellent review! I love these, but had to send them back before I could really try them on the road. The narrow mid-foot just wouldn't work for me. It's a pity because the Pro 3 doesn't have that.
Just checking you know that there's a wide version
Been waiting for this video just picked up one Adidas’s Boston 12 recently
What do you think? You a fan as well?
It’s an amazing shoe very comfortable I would say.
Own the Pro 3 for two weeks now. Loved them SO much that I bought the Boston 12 and Katumi Sen 9 as well. What an amazing shoes!!!!
That’s a great rotation
Also running Boston 12 + Takumi Sen 9 and I'm in love. Round it out with Hoka Mach 5 for some easier runs and I'm set for a while.
@@tonyureno6816 sounds like an awesome rotational!!! 👏👏👏
same here but for easy i go with the triumph 20
Hi, great review! Do you think this shoe can be use for not so fast runners for marathon (3:30-3 hours)??
Great Review !
my 9 year old also has problems with her laces some of the times. I think you both should spend more time learning how to tie them because I have never had laces come undone and I've been running for 50+ years.
Swapped out the laces in Boston 10s, adios Pro 3s and takumi sen 8s.
Hey Ben, awesome review!!
Glad you liked it!
Am I the only one who has to size half size down in adidas? I’m a true 9.5 in every other company’s shoes… ordered the 9.5 in Takumi Sen 9, tad too big… ordered a 9 in Boston 12 and voila, perfect
Are you 9.5 us or uk?
In all brands except adidas I’m a 9.5US, and a 9US in adidas
You're not the only one I've always had to size down for Adidas
First Adidas and I also had to size down. Interesting
@@Choc2kirs 9.5 us
Adidas should really put their strung upper on all their shoes. I have the Takumi Sen 9 which i love but it can be a nightmare to get on especially getting the tounge in the right place. The strung upper on my Prime X though is fantastic
Was able to get these at a Adidas outlet for 68 USD for this exact color way only 10 miles in but couldn’t be happier
Good review. I like the looks of this shoe. Interested in trying it out, but is it as good or better than the Saucony endorphin speed 3 ? If not, then might as well go with that and call it a day.
The Boston 12 is more narrow or cozy to the feet and more responsive that speed 3
I have it in yellow.. Very stable and comfortable but not for slow cadance. Needs the cadance to hit the sweet spot.
Ah interesting, I don’t play to much attention to my cadence but do feel exceptional at top speed
Been asking my wife for months now to let me buy these, currently at 790km in my Boston 11s which I have a hate love relationship with. I've been hearing the 12 is much better, so wanting to experience it.
Hi Ben, I'm pretty new to running and am looking for a do-it-all shoe... after watching many reviews, I'm sort of stuck between the the rebel v4 and the Boston 12. Which would you recommend?
Cheers
Would you say this is a good replacement for the Hoka Mach 5 or does this one sits a bit more on the faster end of the shoe spectrum like the endo speed?
I got them for about $115 from adidas US as they had a coupon. I absolutely love these shoes. Durable and responsive. I agree regarding the laces and I found the laces a bit short if you use the heel lock loop hole, but overall excellent shoes.
Thank you for the comment helped me find the same deal :-) looking forward to trying these when they arrive .
@@pbnotj1 awesome, enjoy!
Solid review as always 👊🏼 been close to getting the Superblast for London marathon training but all the praise this shoe is getting, the versatility and the cheaper price point is making the decision harder 😂
They are very hard to compare. The superblast I’d say is more suited to more daily miles and long runs where as the Boston is more direct and good for daily still but more suited to faster intervals. Both are firmly in my rotation
@@BenIsRunning if I didn’t have a pair of Takumi sens about I’d give these a go for sure. Appreciate your thoughts 🤙🏼
@@lukejones7320 at pace they feel very similar but at easy pace much more stable. A more versatile Takumi but yeah I would agree, not needed if you already own them :)
Be interesting to compare these with the Puma Deviate Nitro
I'm a big fan of the Saucony Endorphin Speeds
I have both this and endo speed 1 and 3 ; both great shoes a lot of overlap. I have a lot of miles on endo 1 and 3 and greatly Prefer upper in the saucony. As for midsole a bit unsure both are good ; shorter faster workouts prefer the Boston 12 to the speed 3 which is a bit more padded and longer training oriented . Outsole on Boston 12 and stability oberall way better than saucony speeds.
Looking for a new shoe. But as an amateur runner I would ideally like just the one shoe. I run 5ks and want to move up to 10k soon. Looking at the Novablast 3 but this might be worth a look. Thoughts?
Nice one ben
Hello Ben, what is your other options you have for long runs with more cushioning?
which to choose: TAKUMO SEN9 or BOSTON 12? Aiming for 5/10K tempo runs.
What do you prefer for your long run (medium and slow tempo)?
got these for 80 bucks at a the Adidas employee store. love them so far
I'll wait for them to go on sale. I bought the 10s and 11s: both really sucked. I do hope I am in for a massive surprise
I tried the Boston 12 in store and I found that the lateral side of the heel was not level with the medial side (lateral side was not touching the ground), making it I guess not very stable at the heel.. Is it safe for a heel striker? All my shoes have significant wear on those lateral heel sides.. thanks
Would you prefer the Boston 12 over Invincible 3?
i have one and i love it!
How is the midfoot width compared to the adidas adios pro 3?
Does it work by hitting the ground or like a rocker by pussing it?
I got blisters on my heel when I run. What I can do with that ??
At the same price, should i get the boston 12 or takumi sen 8? Also, let me know the reason. Thanks!
Is it okay to wear when passing through muddy wet trail terrain?
Is better than endorphin speed 3? Thanks
Is it similar to a Saucony endorphin speed?😊
Can it compete w/ the saucony speed?
Nice review, is a good alternative for the Saucony Endorphin speed 3? I am looking for a replacement of them....
I’d say so yes. Fill very similar positions in my shoe rotation
@@BenIsRunning thx, I will get a pair for my shoe rotation, last month I added the takumi zen, I realy love them for my intterval sessoin on the road! And concrats with your pb on the 10K! In november I going to try to set my pb :-)
Hey Ben, I just ordered a pair of the Adios pro 3's. How would you say they are compared to nike alphas 2. I've ran about 100kms now in my Alphas and after 2x halfs in them this year I always feel like they disappoint in the last 5km and the legs feel heavy. Do the pro 3's give you more control with paces and assistance later on in a race? Would be interested to know your thoughts!
The alphas are much more of a 'cruiser', you'll go quicker in the AP3 at the same effort as the alphpas, my legs feel worse in the AP3 but it's all subjective! The AP3 is by far my favourite
Are these comparable to puma deviate nitro 2?
Thanks for the review? When i tried these on its like I can feel the rod under foot. But not sure if it is the rod as there is a lot of padding in between
I've not experienced that. Is it possible the rod as split through the midsole? Im not sure I'm afraid.
It was me being stupid ahah. My foot is too wide for them. Please can you let me know if the NB 1080 V12 are true to size please?@@BenIsRunning
Hot take… these or the superblast?
Anybody have an issue with the heel fabric staining socks?
Is this shoe good for flat feet runners?
Ben pls can you advise. I have the Boston 12s but they’re about to die on me. Can’t find any more in my size. How durable are the takumi sen 10 s in comparison…? Can you daily them? I do no more than 50km per week or 200km per month. Is anyone able to advise…? I know the sen 10s and Boston. 12a are fairly similar, with the former being a bit more racey and slightly lighter. That said, is the durability compromised? Help would be so much appreciated from anyone! Thanks so much
Hi Ben, thanks for the review! Would you suggest it for a first Marathon? 69Kg runner with finishing time goal of 3h30’. Thank you! 😊
How much does Ben weigh?
@@alexanders4911 I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️
I weigh 68 kg and I will start in spring 2024 on these shoes 😉 Boston 12 very good idea
@@mariusz_snk2716 nice weight! How tall are you?
Did u hear that someone equalled your course record at maldon parkrun
Doesn’t adidas use the same laces for all shoes? Pro, Takumi, prime X. Or are these even worse? 😅 I think they work best in the Takumis, maybe they are a bit slimmer actually in the Takumi.
Please do takumi sen 9
Is this Boston 12 good for flat feet?
Ben, how is this shoe at 6.30/km easy pace.
I've been thinking about getting a pair of these to replace my Nike Pegasus. Do you enjoy this shoe more?
Completely different league in my opinion. These are more a tempo shoe, much more responsive
Hello Ben! Are the Boston 12 suitable for my first marathon?? Thank you
Yes, absolutely- no reason why not :)
@@BenIsRunning would you prefer the nimbus 25 over the Bostons?
I m interested in running the marathon with comfort mostly, not time etc..
thank you
How far on average do you run everyday?
This or the Mach 5?
Would you reach for this over the saucony endorphin speed 3?
just got these on amazon for $102 for my size 10.5 🤯
How would you say this shoe compares to the Adizero SL? I bought both the Boston 12 and the SLs bc I like them both, but I can’t decide which to use for speed workouts and which for easy runs. They’re technically both marketed as trainers.
Hey Bailey. I’ve got both of them as well. I always only use SL for easy runs (can do strides in them no prop at the end). But the 12’s are for speed work. Again SL = easy. 12 = Speed. Hope this helps. All the best
@@madsjuulmunch3754 Awesome! Thank you : )
I brought some cordyceps off puresport do u think they work / have u had any weird side effects from them ?
I’ve been taken them for about 3 months. I’ve not noticed any dramatic effects however I have read some convincing articles. I guess with small 1/2/3% its hard to tell but I’m I’ve certainly not had any side effects personally :) I’m planning to keep them in my daily supplements
If I'm the minority who preferred the Zoom Fly 4 for marathon training and have stability issues, would I still like the Boston 12, or would I prefer the Boston 10/11? It's ok, you don't have to answer that. :)
As I said, I’ve not tried the previous versions however these are softer so potentially not as stable but I wouldn’t no for sure :)
Get to 60k by the end is September
Since the Adios Pro 3 is on massive sales, down to 160euros, there seems no reason for the Boston 12 currently, the Pro3 does everything just better with a smiliar durability.
I don't think so, the old shoe that are stored in warehouse for so long will have glue problem, the glue are not strong anymore therefore less durable
@@nandhawalrost lol!
Disappointed to hear that you don't like it for long distance...what would you go to?
I personally prefer something like a ASICS superblast, adidas prime x or a Nike invincible even :)
You could comfortably run longer distances but they wouldn’t be my first choice
Nice
Hows this compared to adidas Prime X2 n Saucony endorphine speed 3?
Much lower stack that the prime x, much closer to that of a speed 3. An easy/tempo shoe.
It might be worth it to do a low-stakes Parkrun in these to see how they perform in a race environment.
Yeah that’s a good idea, I’ll definitely do that in the next few weeks
are u wearing C oros Pace hahah
I have the Boston 11's which you can pick up cheap at the moment as the 12 has just come out. Positives are great grip the best I've felt on a road trainer and they feel great at all paces and easy pace feels easier. But the one massive negative which they do not seem to have improved in the 12's is the heel which is shocking the worst I have felt in a pair of trainers that cuts up your heel it is so hard with no cushioning and makes the trainers un usable. So be careful if it does not suit your heel shape.
So true! and also on the ankle, it has caused me problems already, it dug into my Achilles and now I'm bruised! I might just return them
Everyone has been praising this shoe in the video reviews I have seen, but I can't pinpoint or gather exactly why. It almost seems as if they were doing the reviews at gunpoint. Similar to how everyone (video reviewers) loved the novablast 2 but that's the one Lovers of the novablast 1(like me) hated.
Found them for less then 30 dollars
Where?

Adidas have been good with pricing their shoes. They could easily have taken the piss when pricing this shoe but didn't 👍
