I'm new to assos and purchased a GTC which is their gravel bib offering. I believe it has the same Chef Shamy as the GT c2. My question is with the chamois. After the initial hand wash I noticed the back sections of the chamois became lumpy. Seemed like something shifted within the chamois compartment and became lumpy. I was able to massage it back into place but I am curious if this is normal. Thanks!
Yes. They are much more comfortable. The straps anchor the shorts in the back better which keep pressure around the waste more comfortable. Also, I find the leg grippers on the GTO much more uniform and easier to adjust.
I'm hesitant to get the GTO's because of the rear straps... it just looks like an odd detail. Do you find that the added comfort from the design is worth it? Don't the black and gold straps clash with whatever you're wearing? Maybe I'm overthinking it and shouldn't care?
GTS are great! I like both and continue to use both. I liked the GTO because of the longer length option that isn’t found in the GTS (yet). You’re going to love them!
@@MitchOnTwoWheelsI see, Im also tall (196cm - 6.4) and skinny, I I ordered L size, as the website recommended. So I agree +3cm would be great 👍 anyway, Im excited to try the new bibs
Hi Mitch, just got a pair of these, and the chamois sits so low, it doesn’t cover my sit bones. I have many pairs, never had a problem like this. Could the shorts be defective? Thanks
I cannot speak for Rapha as a comparison as I don’t own any. However, from my experience with Assos as a brand and the research I have done prior buying any, it’s fairly common knowledge that it is the golden standard in the market currently. My own feedback is the same, it is the best cycling kit I own, and I have added more to it in my own wardrobe. It’s expensive, yes… but you get what you pay for. I hope that helps.
I own 4 pairs of Assos Bibs purchased over a span of 7 years. Last year I decided to give Rapha a try. What a waste of money. I rode in them twice. Unlike Assos, the Rapha shammie is stitched in one place, hence it folds when you move on the saddle and irritates the sensitive parts:) Now they are handing in the closet as a reminder to stay loyal to Assos:)
Awesome video 👍 I was about to buy the GTS but since i prefer longer rides maybe the GTO:s is better for me. I guess you have tried the GTO:s out now so whats your verdict compared to the GTS?
@@MitchOnTwoWheels Sounds good, thanks for the reply. Ordered myself a pair; my first quality bibs (i have just bought in the $600 range so far) so hopefully they fit me as well as they did for you 👍
Bought 'em too, thanks for the video! I'm a little worried about the shorter front-end of the blue part. I like that a lot on my Equipe RS S9 that it's like a preshaped 'cup' that holds your man stuff very comfortably with slightly thicker/softer fabric than the thin fabric that goes up to your belly. Could you comment on this? It might still be there, but maybe just not in the blue color, but some other kind of fabric. I see they call it "Sundeck Superlight" for the GTO's on the Assos site? Is it still comfy on the situation?
Very comfortable and easier to access for a tinkle haha! I’ve been very impressed. They are my favourite bibs I own and have since bought another pair.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thanks! I'm going to try them later today. Wanted to have new bibs suited for longer rides, hopefully these are it! May I ask what your height/weight is? I'm 1.93m 80kg myself, wondering if I should go for the L or XL (ordered both sizes). My Equipe RS S9 is an XL and it's about perfect, but definitely shouldn't be any looser. I mainly chose XL for the length of the straps and legs on the Equipe, but the GTO has the +3cm option and maybe less compression than the racy Equipe, so a GTO in L might be comparable to XL Equipe fit wise...
191 cm and 90kg myself and went with the Large +3cm option which their fit finder recommended. Fits great. I also wear their Equipe bibs in Large without issues as well.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thanks! I probably have the wrong size Equipe then haha, I'm new to cycling so wasn't sure how tight or loose a bib short should be. Comes down to personal preference too of course, but I see many people with comparable height/weight as me go for the M or L 😅
Is this a performance review or a beauty pageant parade?? Where is there anything remotely close to test data?? "I'm really excited about trying these things out". Cue the Shirley Temple "oh, goody goody goody".
Very useful video! Thank you, keep up posting reviews with close ups of apparel ! :)
Will do!
The size of the situation is little different between the two. Great video dude.
Thanks!
Great video. How's the sizing of the GTO compared to GTS? Should i stick to the sizing of my GTS?
Sizing is the same. Although I went with the +3cm length version as I’m tall.

Probably just needs to break in. Shouldn’t be lumpy though… so if it persists talk with Assos. All my bibs are lump free.
I'm considering the c2 gts. After using both do you feel the premium of gto is worth the extra?
Yes. They are much more comfortable. The straps anchor the shorts in the back better which keep pressure around the waste more comfortable. Also, I find the leg grippers on the GTO much more uniform and easier to adjust.

The straps are the best part!!!! Don’t overthink them… they are insanely comfortable and work well with any kit.
I just ordered GTS. Are they bad? I just curious why would you buy a GTO after GTS

Probably the wrong size.

Would you say Assos is kinda top end as you can go when it comes to cycling bibs? Compared to Rapha and other companies

@@MitchOnTwoWheels yup! That does help. Thanks for the reply
@@xBobby Agreed. Rapha is really poor quality next to any of my Assos bibs, and the pad isn't even remotely as comfortable.

Brutal! Assos is the gold standard to me.
Is the difference night and day between the 2? Trying to see if i can justfify the extra funds of what they are asking
Yes.
