Hi! Which Assos bib would you recommend for gravel riding? I was checking their website and came across the Assos Mille GTC Kiespanzer C2 (the one with the back pocket). Do you recommend any other versions of Assos shorts? I’m planning to take long trips next summer, so I’m looking for something that will provide the highest level of comfort.
Likely go with the Mille line… from there you can choose the features or riding style you like. Warning though, they won’t end up being a single purchase.
In 1989 while in stationed in Germany......I went to a bike shop and got my 2nd pair Assos bid shorts. The owner looked at me and said - "I see you know the best!" I tried other brands (Castelli,Rapha) but nothing is as good as ASSOS.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels the second pair lasted 15 to 16 years (maybe longer)....I returned to Europe to race for a German team in the Summer of 1992. However, in 1995 to 1998 I went to law school so they didn't get used much. Then I got serious back into cycling when the Paul Bunyan trail expanded and connected to other trails (old railroad beds that got paved) in Northern Minnesota (only a mile from the lake cabin). One summer I would alternate 70 miles one day and 35 the next. I needed to do this - I got married (and my wife being Indian and an amazing cook) - I went from 175 to 217 lbs. in 2 years. In 2 months I was able to drop back to 162lbs. Prior to getting back onto the bike...I got my 3rd pair of ASSOS with the Green pad. Since watching your video today, I ordered that pair of Assos bib shorts since I will be up at the cabin all this Summer.
I'm around your dimensions at 6'4 and 200lb. It seems I am between the L and XL sizes. Do you think this being a comfort fit that the L is more suitable? Have yours kept the same compression in the years you have been wearing them? Thanks for the great review and content Mitch
They feel the same as new… most bibs would loosen up a bit. I haven’t found that to be the case with these. Your best bet is to try both sizes? I would guess a large GTO would work tho.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels fair enough…if these ever go on sale/archive,I will still snag a pair to have in my collection. I noticed a big difference between GTO and GT jerseys…didn’t expect that, hopefully the material holds up.
Great review! I’ve looked at your other Assos reviews and I know that the GTO is your favorite Bib. My question is what are your thoughts on the Equipe RS S9 bibs if the majority of your rides are 60-90mins with wknd rides being 2-3hrs. I currently own Giordana FRC-Pro bibs and have no issue with them. I would like to try my hand at Assos. I found a sale on the equipe RS S9 for $149 and a pair of the basic Mille GT bibs for $99. That’s a significant price difference from the $350 GTO bibs that aren’t on sale. I want to try the Equipe RS out but seeing your review and reading from others about how the chamois is thinner just curious what your thoughts are considering the price difference. Thank you in advance
Remember that Equipe line is tighter fitting than the Mille Line, which is more comfort oriented. Think of it as Race vs Endurance (that’s how I see it anyway). Both are great choices to be honest… I’ve done plenty of 3hr rides in Equipe line, and didn’t have a problem with the thinner pad. For a first bib, it’s hard to pass up on $99 Mille GTs to see what it’s all about (try out the fit which is similar to the GTO) and check out the quality. The Equipe will be a more painted on version that will have a line of lady’s following you 😂
@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thank you. I have been using Assos bibs since 2010. I don't have any of the new Mille line, but my 10 year old bibs are still holding together. The black fabric is starting to sun fade! And I am sure that the chamois is not as good as it was. I also hang dry my bibs, but I wash them in the regular warm cycle. I am sure that cold is better for them.
@@MitchOnTwoWheels I can buy decent shorts for a fraction of the price. The price is completely unjustified. Moreover, the description of these shorts on the manufacturer's website is marketing gibberish.
Love these. Have been really impressed with the new RS Targa shorts I picked up recently as well.
Awesome! I told ya 😉
I bought my first pair 10 years ago and they last and are my perfect shorts! I only buy Assos shorts n bibs
Awesome! Great feedback.
Do you have the other versions?
Quick update. I ordered a set of Mille GTO bibs based on the strength of your review. My Assos bib collection is overdue for updates!
You’re going to love them… well actually your Butt is going to love them. I can’t wait to hear your feedback.

How is the durability of these for ‘gravel’ riding. Any obvious reason to avoid? Or should I stick with the GTC series of bib shorts.
I’d stick to GTC. Usually the placement of the Shammy itself will be designed around the riding position of the bike.

Are these the best? What is your hands down “the best choice” for Assos bibs?
Mille GTO are my favourites.
Hi Just wondering what you use to wash them and how do you wash them
Regular laundry… hang dry, no issues.
Great videos! I'm looking to alleviate sit bone pain, do you find the insert in the mille gto to be better at that than the basic mille gt?
Yes absolutely. Although sit home pain will likely have more to do with your seat not fitting correctly.
Would you still recommend someone starting out 2 years later get a set of Mille GTOs?
Absolutely!

If I feel little scratched between two legs with my ball😂 should I get a bigger size or smaller. Thank you. Appreciate if you can reply this
Like the shorts are bunching up? Or not tight enough? What does the size calculator say?
I have the gto for 1 years already, is great
@@MitchOnTwoWheels i just check online I think I got a size bigger than they recommend, may be that is why
What is your laundry process? Do you put them in the dryer?
Never in the dryer. Normal cycle on cleaning (cold water), and hang dry.

7:15 where did you order these from?
Thanks love your videos
Assos direct.
Where can you buy and with discount?
Keep your eyes open.
How tall are you and what kg? I’m in between sizes and debating
6-3, 205lbs.
Is the gto worth the extra compared to the gts?
If you ride longer then yes.
Are these shorts overkill for shorter rides 2 hours or less?
Not at all. I use them all the time for everything LOL
@@MitchOnTwoWheels Thanks
Shorts for such a lot of money, it looks very bad.
They’re great!

Really? Which brand and what type is better than ASSOS?
@@eheuvel6708 Probably something on Ali Express that works well for 30 minutes of riding a week.
