Great driving. To put that lap time in perspective, it's already faster than the official lap record in F2 car and much faster than the official lap record for Formula Renault 3.5! The real F1 car is obviously much faster still but this wasn't true race spec car so that was a great lap time.
That Kalle dude is quite possibly the best driver in thr world. Before anyone starts talking about differences in Rally1 and F1, im gonna say I know that.. Even Michael Schumacher said Rally1 drivers are the best drivers in the world. And Kalle being the youngest Rally1 champion ever, he wins his second Rally1 tittle next year and decides to take a sabbtical and then spends his time kicking butt in drifting and Porsche-series. Now he is testing F1 and being instantly quick. Think about that.
That's a huge variance in weight, power, and of course grip between a WRC and F1 car. Amazing progress in just a few minutes! +10 seconds from Sainz's record lap.
If I say compared to a road car, it’s bullshit cause a rally car isn’t near any road car. F1 are big go carts roughly speaking I think Rally driver can deal with road cars better but overall it’s just something different. Like football, baseball and basketball, who have better skills with a ball ?
For hot laps on a track? No the F1 drivers are the best in the world but overall you could definitely argue there's many more aspects to driving rally cars fast and that the rally guys are more skilled overall
Pretty sure he'd be hold back a bit cause he wont wanna crashed his first experience. Also lots of buttons to learn in F1, so if he had a day or two, im sure he can do 1:12 to 1:11 consistently.
Being 5-6s off qualy pace is a good effort for so little wheel time. Hard to say how much of that is special skills until you give him enough seat time to prepare for a proper race weekend and do all the practice and qualy sessions. That'd be the true tell. Anything other than that will look good just because you can always knock off whole seconds at a time every lap, when you're given so few to get up to speed with.
Finns are so damn good drivers. I was expecting him to do really well but he definitely surpassed my expectations. After Häkkinen and Räikkönen, this is Iceman, 3rd edition.
6:38 Most drivers in an F1 car given instructions from the engineer: "That was pretty good but you pressed the brake pedal only 80kg. It should be closer to 150 kg for max braking performance." Meanwhile, Kalle locks the brakes equally fast to real F1 drivers. His only mistake was that he couldn't react fast enough to locking, release the locking and re-apply the brakes not to overshoot the corner that much. Still great performance for the first lap to not burn the whole tyre or crash the car after accidentally locking the tyre.

No offense, or take offense.. WRC tracks are far harder than a Formula anything track.. There number of variables in Rally is truly variable...
Before watching, i already know hes gonna do it and do it very well. Rally drivers are different breed of racer
Plz give him Checo's seat! Imagine the marketing behind it. Isnt Red Bull meant to be bold? Plz give us fans the opportunity to witness this guy's talent in f1!
Yes because 10 laps is more experience than Pérez 10+ years
@bonelessbeef Do you really know who Rovanpera is? F1 would be a walk in the park for him bro. Lol
@@henry247buddy he's seconds slower than F1 drivers on one lap pace. There's no way he's going to be competitive over the course of a race. Not to mention he lacks the sponsor money that Perez brings in.
@@goobingtons You know he can practice right? The fastest lap seen with this car at this circuit was 1:13...s by Marc Webber btw. You know he's just won a race on this track right? Lol you're saying that based on 10 laps? Do you know who tf he is? 😂
Never works the other way round, no modern F1 driver has done anything remarkable in a rally car. Even Kimi was only middling and of course Kubica was up at the lower end of the quicker drivers but he had that really awful off.
I met Rovenperä,s dad several times when he was doing the British championship as my car was prepared by the same team. Top bloke as is his son.
F1 gran prix winner carlos Reuteman was the only one to be at the podium in two wrc events in group b cars. 3 rd in Argentina in apeugueot group b car. Also third in a fiat 131 brava group b car
He's not just drifting but also Porsche 911 Benelux cup
Listen, they said it
I do believe Kalle could be among top 10 in 2 years time in F1
I found the 2025 replace driver.
Well he is 16 seconds slower than Verstappen here so a lot of work to do.
You have no clue who you are talking about here 😅
@@ChuckBeefOG Just give him about 10 more laps and he'll get there
4:20 that formula renault sounds so nice
Faster than Perez!
Kalle was the best rallyedriver at 9 years old
Now he is a WC…🤷
So I am not surprised that he would perform as expected 💪
He probably would have been significantly faster with some sim time beforehand - learning braking points, gears, entry and exits, etc.
That engine was also more than likely tuned down to make corner exits a bit safer etc. That 1.15 was actually a very good run everything considered. Kalle wouldn't be last in qualifying if he had a bit of practise (and Red Bull's car). Competing a whole race would be a different story (he's not used to those g-forces).
There's no way he was going to drive a few laps in an actual F1 without practicing the track beforehand with a sim.
The best driver of all times !
Get him to F1 full on to dominate there as well.
Great video, music was way too LOUD tho... Calm down a bit, it's not a turbo V6, let us hear the F1 car.
I wish this existed when Loeb was in his prime! ❤️
Not taking anything away from this surgeon behind the wheel! Amazing driver! ❤ and an amazing video! ❤️
It would just be cool to see my childhood hero in the same situation 😁
Yes, you can. Just not very well.
If anyone can, Kalle could though.
Great driving. To put that lap time in perspective, it's already faster than the official lap record in F2 car and much faster than the official lap record for Formula Renault 3.5! The real F1 car is obviously much faster still but this wasn't true race spec car so that was a great lap time.
Ive just understood Haas and Toyota connection a bit better
Already better than most of the other younger drivers after just 10 laps
The car is the RB8, right?
Yes! It's the 2012 Sebastian Vettel World Championship winning car 😍

I was curious to see his emotions after riding F1 for the first time... 🗿
Kalle doing great? No surprises!
I think would be a lot hard for an F1 driver to do well in Rally than the opposite. Kiddo was born to drive!
Bro is better then perez already
Perez is over 11s faster per lap.
@ not in this car. And ofcourse perez is faster, it was a joke
Kalle is just so good man wow 😲💯🎶👏👏👏
KALLLEEE
That's a huge variance in weight, power, and of course grip between a WRC and F1 car. Amazing progress in just a few minutes! +10 seconds from Sainz's record lap.
Wow he should definitely transition
Beautiful! Well-done video.
Quick question for a debate. Is a rally driver better than a f1 driver? In my opinion, yes, a rally driver has more skills. let me now your thougths
If I say compared to a road car, it’s bullshit cause a rally car isn’t near any road car.
F1 are big go carts roughly speaking
I think Rally driver can deal with road cars better but overall it’s just something different.
Like football, baseball and basketball, who have better skills with a ball ?
For hot laps on a track? No the F1 drivers are the best in the world but overall you could definitely argue there's many more aspects to driving rally cars fast and that the rally guys are more skilled overall
No, F1 is much more elite, limits are much higher.
Pretty sure he'd be hold back a bit cause he wont wanna crashed his first experience. Also lots of buttons to learn in F1, so if he had a day or two, im sure he can do 1:12 to 1:11 consistently.
He had my vote as soon as he spoke.
Being 5-6s off qualy pace is a good effort for so little wheel time. Hard to say how much of that is special skills until you give him enough seat time to prepare for a proper race weekend and do all the practice and qualy sessions. That'd be the true tell.
Anything other than that will look good just because you can always knock off whole seconds at a time every lap, when you're given so few to get up to speed with.
would be great to see Kalle competing in F1
Rally drivers are on another league 🔥Best of the Best.
Finns are so damn good drivers. I was expecting him to do really well but he definitely surpassed my expectations. After Häkkinen and Räikkönen, this is Iceman, 3rd edition.
Great driver, great team... Love it.
Kalle Rovanperä is most talented driver at his generation. He can drive everything very fast at very little experience.
The current livery suits the RB8 very well.
A bit cheeky keeping the HRC logo in there, tho...
