      I don't think you heard enough from Vivaldi.
      You can't say an "favourite piece" or "the most epic/best piece by.." in classical music .
      Each piece has a story to tell , an feeling to transmit and a beautyness to hear.

    • @Killerbee4712
      @Killerbee4712 4 года назад +18

      @@linaresigor Yeah, you're not wrong. Dont forget that there was also many limitations to what baroque composers could do. It was either violins, cellos, or brass like cornet or hornpipes and the harpsichord. Plus, vivaldi was a violin virtuoso, so composing for violin was the easiest for him. Its still quite spectacular that he could come up with so many "ideas", even if they are very similar to the next.
      Another example would be mozart, who although wrote some of the best pieces, the other lesser known ones are quite repetitive. You know when you hear a trilled perfect cadence, it is Mozart, it is a type of style composers often develop. Still, good talk

    • @linaresigor
      @linaresigor 4 года назад +1

      Killerbee47 The limitations were out there to everyone. On Vivaldi’s case there is a lot of repetitions on the violins if you compare his others compositions, so I don’t think we can talk about style problems in this contex. Well I am just a music appreciator not a scholar, so I don’t think my opinion counts as much. But yeah, good talk! Thanks for the information!

    Добро души, кто сердцем незлобив,
    Кто, суету мирскую презирая,
    Сумел прощать, злобу смирив.
    О, счастлив тот, кто к истине стремится,
    Кто хочет стать полезным для друзей,
    Кто хочет мудрости учиться,
    Кто совершенствует себя, познав людей.
    Но мрачен тот, кто сердцем хладным
    На злобу злобой отвечал,
    Кто никогда обиды брату
    Душой надменной не прощал.
    В душе того любовь и правда,
    Как чудный дар, не расцветут.
    И в час сомнения мирского
    Покоя муки не дадут…….

      I developed quite a crush on ole Amandine over her Corelli concerti grossi - then I realized that those meltingly beautiful cadenzas were likely the work of her prize students - Flavio Losco in particular, but also Helena Zemanova, Alba Roca, Yoko Kawakubo....I wondered for years why exactly Amandine repeated the work of her teacher Chiara Banchini, who recorded all the concerti grossi with HER students at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Maybe Amandine wanted faster tempi, sharper transitions - I go back and forth between the two readings, I like 'em both - or maybe this is just part of the pedagogical program at Basel. I could find out, but I guess I like not knowing....
