  • We get asked many time what kind of siding we use for our portable storage buildings. Here is a short description of the process to manufacture the 3/8" LP SmartSide paneling for sheds and barns.
The manufacturing process of LP SmartSide for outdoor portable storage sheds and buildings involves several steps to ensure a durable and high-quality product.
The process begins with the selection of raw materials, including wood fibers, resins, and waxes, which are combined to form a wood strand composite. This composite is then subjected to intense heat and pressure, creating strong and consistent panels. Next, the panels are coated with a proprietary blend of zinc borate and resin overlay, providing protection against fungal decay and termites.
After coating, the panels are cut into desired sizes and grooves are added for easy installation. The final step involves applying a factory finish, which includes a layer of weather-resistant paint or stain, giving the LP SmartSide a beautiful and long-lasting appearance. Before shipping out our storage buildings, we apply another final finish of outdoor stain selected by you!
Throughout the process, strict quality control measures are implemented to ensure the product meets the industry's standards for strength, durability, and aesthetics.

It’s not difficult to be better than T 111. We had a customer with a whole house sheathed/sided with it. We kept having to replace panels. Battens and caulking around every window and door. It was a continuous war on rot.

Why not Zip or Forcefield- both painted with Acrylic Latex?

Thanks for your opinion. We have had very good results with this siding and have decided this is the best option for our sheds and portable buildings. The buildings still look excellent with the original stain!
