I’ve recently gotten into pc gaming and I love it. I built my first pc during the winter. The only thing is, as someone who has a learning disability, it’s been extremely stressful trying to learn all the different terms and how to make sure everything works correctly. It’s a big change since I’ve been on console my entire life.
Edit: Thank you all for the kind messages I really appreciate them all! I will definitely use all of your advice:)

i was going to get a 5000x cpu back then to upgrade my ageing 7700k, but beacuse it was the last line of hardware that would be supported. i thought it would be better to hold of and wait for 7000 series..which is what iv done. I do think i wasted money on getting a 3080 though. its not enough for 4k gaming.

Got my RTX3080 just a few weeks before the prices went through the roof by the end fo 2020. CPU I7 9700K wasn´t maybe the best decision. Nevertheless I will wait a few years to replace the system. Microsoft Flight simulator runs constantly at around 60fps at 4k. Cyberpunk 2077 needs definetly a stronger hardware to run on ultra with 60fps in 4k and RT on.

Thank you for this. It's a difficult time for new buyers like myself. My daily work machine is actually just a Dell laptop that's on its last breath. All year I've been looking at building a PC but whether it be money issues or market issues, I'm finding myself almost in Q4 wondering if I should keep waiting. Like this laptop, i usually buy lower mid tier to save money and then in a couple years I'm obsolete. I'm attracted to building a PC because of the longevity and I want the best quality I can afford, but being at the Crux of a generation leap makes it difficult. Opinions flying everywhere, more hype than ever before from manufacturers, fan wars, the market crashing, prices bungeeing - there's a whole entire element on top of just trying to learn the basics and choose the best build. It's reassuring to hear creators saying not to rush into new launches or waste money on maxed out builds unless it's really what you need.

    • @keblin86
      @keblin86 2 года назад

it's a hard one especially on the cup of a new launch but you have to try block all that out and go for what you need right now, if you urgently need it now then buy what u can afford right now. Can you stretch with ur current laptop and wait a bit? Maybe wait if you can otherwise go for it. There should be some awesome deals on current stuff. Without knowing what u do it's hard to say what to go for but you can't go wrong with mid range stuff for most things. The 5600x CPU should cover just about everything and it was recently on sale at such an amazing price lol, even the 5600 will do for most work scenarios.
I bought a 5600x knowing soon new stuff was coming, however that ended up becoming an "unknown time length" which btw, is now lol. So I would of been waiting ages. I am glad I didn't wait.
There was another time, ages ago where I paid a lot of money for a graphics card right before a new graphics card generation was coming out but at the time I needed to do it. Sucks that I could of literally doubled my performance by waiting a few months or got the same card I paid for at half the price BUT I had no choice then, I needed it asap. It just depends on your circumstances at the time. I do tend to wait for most things and see what prices are like once things are out then weight up do I really need the extra performance for that much more cash, if it turns out I don't then I just pay less and get less performance but enough for my needs! It's not always easy to know what is right for your needs and honestly I keep thinking about that a lot recently. There are some great youtubers and content creators but not a lot of them actually explain each budget level and to the person watching who is clueless, they could end up more clueless by the end of the videos lol. I'm thinking of trying to do something to help people but it's hard to know what to cover and it's hard when you don't fully understand the tech side yourself haha. Sorry I did not mean for this comment to be so long!! EEP

@@keblin86 first off, I love gaming and I'm just sick of being stuck at low performance. My current PC can no longer handle games, the thermal issues got so bad that I'm pretty sure the hardware is fried and I can't even run low-spec games now. For work I don't need to do any crazy 3D rendering but occasional motion graphics and video editing is both part of my job and a hobby. I do a lot of graphic design which requires multitasking of CPU dependent programs so I was originally going to go for a 360 TI 5600x build since it seems to be unanimously the best price to performance, however, I recently considered bumping it up to the r7 instead of the R5 since it seems the seven line is supposed to be geared more towards productivity. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've been watching sales go by and chomping at the bit wondering if I should take advantage of them I don't think I can wait another year or more.

@@samijune5824 ah very similar to me then. I used to do web/graphic work and funnily enough I am about to get back into a bit of web work lol. Though only personal and more as hobby now so nothing major. I can tell you straight away if you are going to get serious with editing more ram is better. That combo you mentioned should be great. The 5600x is a great processor but with you mentioning those work tasks I would possibly go bigger if you can afford it and if this was a year ago I would say do it now BUT I would not recommend buying bigger right now regarding a CPU, if you can hold off I would wait and see what happens with the next batch of new CPU's. I know nit sucks waiting but it won't be long now and hopefully soon we can see the prices of everything then pick something. Ultimately though, you are going to end up with a sweet setup by the end of this so try to just hang in there a little bit more. You waited this long, you can wait a few more weeks/months surely? You got this!
I don't know much about the AMD side of things btw, especially gpu's but I do hear nvidia is better for productivity side of things, if you do editing/streaming etc. Though I am also biased there. I love Nvidia for the GPU side. This was my first time going amd on the CPU and although it's great I am also a bit biased there. I prefer intel lol. However it doesn't matter too much at the end of the day if it does the performance I need.
What resolution are you aiming for in gaming and refresh rate?
Also, if I can help in anyway let me know. Probably can't but with your spec being very close to my current spec hopefully I could help. I am 5600x with a 3070 and 32gb ram.

However, there will not be any new upgrade except for the GPU as I like to build a PC and forget it and I only plan to upgrade the GPU in a few years. I mean the 3070 is more than enough since I'm only playing at 1080p right now but that extra power would have given my PC more longevity because if its anything in comparison to the 1080 which even today 6 years later its still a good enough for 1080p high settings on most AAA games

I didn't understand the buying a 3080 a week before the 4080 part, that was my plan exactly haha
When the 4080 will launch, the 3080 price will probably go down a lot, also it's very likely that the 4080 will not be available in a few months due to high demand by enthusiasts, meaning that buying a 3080 a week before the 4080 launch means I get it before it's price rises again.. it's the sweet spot

something youre not mentioning is with the new 40 series gpu's etc is you need every other component upgraded and the main thing, is the power consumption!! the gpu and cpu's that are coming seem to be very power hungry to say the least. and with everything going on with the price of electricity going through the roof, i really dont think its a good idea to be using that much more power, which is going to cost you more weekly to run. when you can play the best games out now just fine with current spec gpu's and cpu's. that use far less electricity.

Prices of PC parts are lower now - RAM, PSU, GPU and CPU. Mobo is still crazy expensive for some reason. Intel 12600k because it is cheaper, newer and run faster than AMD's counterpart 5800X. The new generation PC next year will most likely use new PSU with ATX3 standard, which is a lot more costly and a lot higher power consumption from what I heard. I don't need to run a powerhouse to play warzone and apex legends in high setting, thus I am just going to get the PC now.

It dropped so much already. I got mine a few weeks ago actually cheaper than some 3060ti models.

if you gonna keep thinking like you should wait for the new ones , you will never be able to build anything, just buy when you are ready to buy and dont wait.

I'm new to PC building, and oh boy is this a headache! Part of me wants to jump into a AM5 motherboard to future proof for the next, what, decade or so? But how many limbs will I need to sell to get in on the ground floor?

you hit the nail on the head PC Centric. I have recently upgraded from a r5 1600 to 5600 and with my 1060 3gb i get 300-600 fps in Fortnite from 120-160 on performance mode. I am waiting for my 3060 ti I paid $620 tax included. Sorta thinking i do not need it as i play WOW and FN .i went with a 1080p 165hz monitor as i had a 60hz. Not being up to date on everything i had no idea 360hz is the new and 240 is more common. considering returning the monitor to get a 240/360 and at same time thinking again Do i need it? im no pro. But these digits we chase in the pc world can be overwhelming and empty the wallet

    I got a mediocre pc from 2013/2014 with a 1060ti.
Looking really forward to create a new setup with AM5 and the next gen graphic cards

Buy now if you Need to upgrade. otherwise, hold out a little longer for new AMD CPU and GPU's, New Intel 13000 series CPU's and new nVidia GPU's ... really bad time to buy in my opinion.
Buy your Case and 1000+ watt Power supply, nvme/ssd drives, etc. while you wait for the for the core parts. I would go 1200-1300 watts on power supply to future proof. You want your PS to run about 50-60% of total power requirements. (you may score a 4090 cheap when the 5000 series come out, you will need that 500 watts for just the card alone.)

Waiting for to see what the prices do on the 3080 12gb since they started up production on them again. Price is too close to the 3080 ti to justify buying one now. Maybe I should just go with the 3080 ti instead of beating up my GTX 960, lol. Wonder if the onboard graphics are better on the 12700K vs the 960?

jsut built my new system with a 5800x3d and rx 6800, chose to build now instead of waiting for the new cpu's simply bc ddr5 on the new am5 platform is jsut so expensive and not worth it atm

Great video! My pc is 5 years old, im running a vega 64 r7 2700x and im looking for an upgrade. Im fed up running my games on low settings LOL... looking to upgrade to a 4k monitor, new 40 series nvidia gpu, and one of the new ryzen cpu and motherboard, ddr5.. etc, might as well go all in and make it last another 5 years haha.

My current GPU is the 1050Ti. I'll probably upgrade next year when the mid range cards such as the 4060/4060Ti releases.
