It only costs about .05-.1 seconds to at least get a flash of your dot or front sight on the target. We are accountable for every round we have to fire in self defense, and you get SO much more accountability with just an extra .05-.1 of a second. More visual info is better. World Champion Ben Stoeger thought this video was ridiculous, along with other great shooters who are all better than this guy like Grandmaster XrayAlpha, Velox Training Group, and JBS Training Group.

@@musicman1eanda is that what you would say to a member of the special forces be them from whatever country or army in the world? I do agree with you on some points but at the end of the day it all comes down to practice practice practice or and over again which builds muscle memory I think you will not argue about that point. So I wasn’t trying to say that it was a absolutely perfect system for everyone in modern society or on the street to employ. Although it was a very simple and beautifully described and executed piece on the subject. Now as for all of the examples of experts you have mentioned and including yourself do you really think in the (and I sincerely hope you or anyone else NEVER has the misfortune of this) event that someone genuinely pulls out a piece on you that your mind is going to stay focused enough and you will be able to control the massive amount of information overload that slams into your mind in less than 0.2 of a second. Your going to look for that front sight? Or just fill your pants then look down as you float up at what was your container on this planet? Somehow I think unless you have thousands of rounds in pressure shooting practice it will be the later. No offence intended whatsoever and please reply I would appreciate a conversation about this with you about it. Have a beautiful day and more importantly stay safe and healthy 🫵🏻👍🏼

@@SkunkPunch73Muscle memory doesn’t exist all that information is store In a part of the brain called the saddle that sits in the middle of your skull around there anyway muscle, can’t remember it’s a tool ,your brain can think it remembers all of your organs and muscle must be in tandem I can tell you this too it is by no means a bad idea to use a knife in close range when you know they can’t get that gun out in time before you close distance of a few feet and stab. a knife wound is a hell of a lot worse to fix than a small projectile around the size of .355 I will say this , the guy in video is a bit of a charlatan cause point shooting is a tiny topic in the concept of combat shooting , he doesn’t mention how to utilize certain grips from cover such as the C clamp and etc and I honestly think your going to learn more studying Army field manuals than you would on RUclips for the entire kit and kaboodle in combat shooting basics , that and if you compete it fills the role of pressure shooting too which i suggest you give a one gun or a two gun a go they are wicked fun and are great training for not just speed shooting but the vast majority of combat shooting techniques sure you will prob get shit on first few times by an Sti 2011 or a super duper MK18 but legit just get a solid handgun and rifle combo you can shoot well and to shoot a competition or buy comp targets end of the day as long as you train dynamic shooting positions and static with multiple targets you should be able To get a good self Defence standard. Keep in mind I shot my first competition with an FNX.45 T definitely not comp standard and I still nade 14th of 37 shooters so I scored in the upper 1/3 with no prior competition experience and some stages and comps are harder sure but I was going up against STIs with 24+ round mags in stages I mandatory reload as I only had 15 and all stages were 20+

Training to not use them and still get accurate hits is a good idea to minimize the chance of stray rounds.

Covering the target with the back of the gun is how I used to shoot grasshoppers at closer ranges with a pellet pistol as a kid. I knew the sights would be high, but not by how much, so I visualized the bore axis in my mind & used that. Shoot a thousand grasshoppers or so with a one-shot pellet pistol, you get pretty good and fast at it.

Just learned one more point blank range target shooting method. Larry Vickers shown another style. Yours is the third style, a left thumb or trigger finger aiming method. Larry Vickers shown another style.
I went another route and studied how the gunmen of the old west in the late 1800's. Revolvers at the time only had blade front sights. No rear sights. It was impossible to have a proper sight picture without a rear sight. Plus, many gunmen at the time were quick draw specialists. No time for sight alignment. You had to draw the revolver and shoot in a second.
This is my method. First you have to know your dominant eye. Most people are right eye dominant. Now hold up your fist and extend your thumb. Close your non dominant eye and look at your thumb. Open your non dominant eye and you will be seeing that target that is obscured by by the dominant eye. Now get your pistol or revolver. Don't worry about the sights. Just look at the rear of the pistol or revolver. The image of your handgun is what your dominant eye sees. The non dominant eye sees the target to the left of the gun for right eyed dominant shooters. This image is super imposed in your mind. When the two images are overlapping, pull the trigger. You will hit exactly what you're looking at. Tested this during a shooting class using a laser/computer movie. The computer marked the location of where you shot. The scenario was the 21 foot rule. The computer was set for 12 foot distance of an attack. Absolutely no time to aim sights. Only thing you can do is draw and shoot. I was looking at the assailants face. The marker from the computer showed the "hit" in the middle of the forehead.

I feel like people stress the sight picture so much that you forget about trigger control and grip. Proper sight picture means nothing without grip and trigger control.
Instead of “squeezing” the trigger I find that in a combative setting you should try to press it to the rear as quickly as possible WITHOUT disturbing the gun. This is difficult with handguns, because the trigger weight is typically more than the gun. Which means your grip has to be ABSOLUTELY perfect and tight. It’s very easy to jerk the gun around when pulling the trigger quickly, and it’s very easy to shoot tight groups while just slowly squeezing the trigger and letting the gun go off.

Using your finger you will build bad muscle memory, I learned that years ago. Put a empty magazine in your hand like you are shooting and point your finger at a Target and you will see where the magazine is pointing.

His complete wrong, the way of getting good at point shooting is by actually learning how to align your sights properly and efficiently every time with a consistency on fast speed. Then you practice high stress drills or scenarios for example; use of force training or drills with a shot timer to make you go insanely fast, this two ways allows you to need to point shoot under stress. Training this way creates muscle memory on how to do it the right way, for in the event you have to point shoot your body and brain knows how to properly present the pistol and align it close to the target making you have better shots.
The way his teaching it in this video would literally just create bad habits and would only make you wonder where your shots are going every time. You don’t train to point shoot, you train to shoot properly for in the event you need to point shoot. Bottom line is that properly shooting your gun every time, literally trains you to point shot for when you need to go fast!

Ask yourself. If the evil you had an optic and was moving around, would this still work out for you?

Just for clarification, when he mentions "the backplate of the pistol", is he referring to the rear of the slide?

Learn how to point with your index, then learn how to point with your thumb, then learn to point with both, then learn how to point with your arms and fingers
This all sounds stupid, but when you can naturally always be on target in a split second at close range it's pretty handy

At the gunshop Close your eyes bring the gun up then open your eyes and see where the gun is pointing. Then buy the gun that fits your natural point.

I heard spec ops guys paint a large white dot on the rear of the slide to use that as their aim point, similar to what he said in the video but actually paint a dot on the gun.
