- Watch the trailer for Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1, starring and directed by Kevin Costner. In Cinemas June NOW.
Academy Award-winning visionary filmmaker Kevin Costner directs New Line Cinema’s vast “Horizon: An American Saga” Chapters One and Two, a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. A story of America too big for one film, this true cinematic event also stars Costner, who co-writes with Jon Baird (“The Explorers Guild”) and produces through his Territory Pictures.
In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, “Horizon: An American Saga” explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won-and lost-through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America…
Costner returns to directing for the first time since his 2003 critically acclaimed hit “Open Range,” and revisits Civil War-era America, the setting for his 1990 blockbuster and directorial debut, “Dances with Wolves,” which won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. He produces alongside Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard, with Danny Peykoff, Robert Scannell, Armyan Bernstein, Charlie Lyons, Barry Berg and Rod Lake executive producing.
Horizon: An America Saga - Chapter 1 in cinemas June 28.
Kevin costner dancing with wolves, open range,Wyatt earp, hatfields and mccoys, yellowstone and now this❤❤❤ this guy knows how to make realy good western movies.
Open range was awesome
All those movies are junk
@@jackburton2680 Yikes
@jackburton2680 Apparently you suck and are a troll !
@@jackburton2680 Go back to watching the 27th Avengers film then
Really really hope this movie does well. It looks incredible! And I miss the good ole American Western
Cant wait to see it.
It won’t
I bet it won’t even make its budget back, Costner wants so badly to sniff those glory days, to just bask in it all, the glory, the Oscar’s, just one last time. Maybe he’ll get there one day, but I can guarantee right here right now, he won’t be getting there via Horizons.
I feel bad for him because it’s his pet project and he’s poured so much of his personal wealth into it, and really shot himself in the foot by leaving the only good thing that happened in his career in the last 20 years, that being Yellowstone, which is honestly terrible but I understand the appeal to middle America, I get it, but he left that all behind and very abruptly and sloppily as well mind you, just to do this film, and I like Costner enough he’s alright, but this will end badly for him, no doubt in my mind.
This ain’t the 90’s any more, he just can’t accept that.
@@jodythomas4324 might not make its money back, but a lot of what you said is very debatable. Outside of Yellowstone, he’s been in at least 10 objectively good projects in the last 20 years. Also Yellowstone is far from terrible. Great reviews and a huge audience. So not sure what metric you’re operating on there outside of your own opinion. Which of course you’re entitled to, but phrase it as that, not a fact. Yes the 90s are past, and movie business is not what it was. Few things make profit. But if you have the money, which of course Costner does, why not throw it at a passion project while theaters are still in business
@@jodythomas4324I'm happy to tell you. You are wrong. 😊 this will be Epic.
Cheers.
The score alone is epic. This is how movies used to be made. Can't wait.
also seems a total story. not focus on people from the wagons. but a grand story set in the American west. what a time that was.
Same I felt like I was watching a movie trailer from the 90’s (in a good way).
I hope that is from the OST, because most trailer music are “temp tracks”, because often the film is not scored until late in post production- like only a couple/few months before the premiere.
But with this trailer hitting so late in the game (it just debuted about 2 weeks ago at the Canne Film Festival😳), it probably is the actual score we’re hearing!😃
I could not have said it better, top comment!
Been a long time since we've had a western that even mattered. I'm glad Kevin Costner the one that brought it.
Deadwood was fire
@@User-54631 Yeah, but that was over a decade ago (aside from the movie)
Open Range is a pretty good film with Costner.
@@User-54631The show was good but slow and the movie sucked
Hostiles with Bale and Wes Studi
I want to sit and watch a Kevin Costner EPIC FOR 6 HOURS PLEASE! I love his Westerns!
I just read that his plan is to make 4 films.... so 12 hours epic... magnum opus?
Please be quiet
@@brettlinthicum6649try taking your own advice.
Always glad to see a Western, not too many of them on the big screen nowadays, not too popular with young people, but by god they’re a classic of film history and timeless stories of humans trying to survive in a hostile world
Westerns are very popular in Europe. The vastness of the land, the stories it holds. Result is spectacular movies.
The Most Important Period in US History...other than Founding.
You mean trying to steal from native American?
Typical American, stealing then whining about it. More like thefts trying to play victims
Westerns are where the REAL superheroes come to play.
Did I just turn back time to the 90s?
If you did, its a welcome return compared to the garbage in the cinemas the last 5 years or so.
Good decade
@@User-54631 Best.
That's exactly what I thought! Such a 90s feel to the trailer. It the song I think
@@FrankCastlesConsciencethere’s been plenty of good films in the past 5 years and there were plenty of bad films in the 90s. Your confirmation bias is your problem.
Dances with Wolves changed my expectations for what a great movie should look like. Kevin Costner continues to meet and beat the expectations he set so long ago.
I am Korean. When I was young, I loved watching American Western movies with my father.
My father passed away a few years ago, but even now, when I think of American Western movies, I think of him.
I hope this movie is a big hit
Me too. My father passed in 2010. He always had westerns to read and watch.
When it comes to westerns Costner is taking up the reigns for The Duke and Clint....this is gonna be good...
I like Costner, and he can walk in their footsteps, but he can never fill the boots of the Duke and Clint.
I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, The Owtlaw Josie Wales being one of my favourite films. Not so much John Wayne. I personally feel that Kevin Costners Western movies portray a much more realistic view of how the old West really was. I can't wait for this new chapter to begin.
I think Costner grew up in south central LA
@@carbonking53 agreed...its just nice to see him doing it..
reins!
It's an instant classic going into the collection of great Westerns.
Another fantasy-suffused oater by one of the world’s lamest actors… retch. Americans can’t get enough of clowns in famers’ hats.
Kevin Costner is almost 70 and worth a quarter billion dollars, and yet he's still acting, directing, and producing AMAZING entertainment when he could be off on some private island somewhere. One of the last of the true greats.
Kevin Costner and Western - I already love that movie.
Looking forward to this film. Reminds me of 90s magic like DANCES WITH THE WOLVES
Coming on UHD 4K BR this year!
@@jimcameron1234 Finally.
@@jimcameron1234are you saying Dances with Wolves is coming out on 4K this year? If so what are your sources? I just googled it and nothing came up. I’ve been wanting a 4K of this for years.
Finally. Real Hollywood.
Kevin Costner is one of the greatest directors of all time & I'm glad he's come back! ❤
He is?
@@deadpatronushave you seen Dances with Wolves? It’s one of the best made movies of all time.
@@deadpatronusthe guy made Dances with Wolves
An epic western on the big screen with beautiful cinematography? I’m in.
The good news is that the “critics” didn’t like it. That means it’s going to be outstanding. Count me in. 👍
I've always been fascinated with the Oregon Trail/movement of families to the Western territories. This looks epic!
A modern film, but one that you don’t want to turn off, because it is that old and almost forgotten art, real cinema, not propaganda.
We are so back.
He only makes westerns based on actual events, true history. Can’t wait!!
i have not gone into a movie theater for20 years, but i will for this one. if nothing else just to show support for only having 7ish weeks between the 2 parts instead of the normal 2-3 years for every other multi-part movie out there.
Thank God he gave us Kevin Costner! ❤ Films like this ignite the soul!
I have just watched this superb movie at my local cinema in a near diserted screen sad to say modern audiences just do not go to movies especially quality films anymore. I see the movie has flopped very badly and has already been pulled locally so I was very glad to have seen this on a big screen tonight. Kostner and his film deserve much more!
Kevin Costner,The king of western movies.
Nope.........that would be Clint Eastwood.
🤨🤨 🤨
C'mon, that would be John Wayne....
Clint for sure
That’s a joke, right?
Words do not begin to describe how excited I am for this movie.
Finally Hollywood is back with something very unique, I loved Dances with Wolves and no doubt this will be instant classics as I love Western movies even though I'm not American
Bot comment? This is not unique nor does it have any chance of being an "instant classic"
@@EuropeDominate funny you would say that
@@H8M0ndays hmm?
Im very happy to se a new era of great Western movies/showes. Missed the last one thanks to my young age.
And looking at whats popular right now I belive it will do good :D
I just love Kevin. Period.
I know I’ll never meet him, that doesn’t matter. I will always love Kevin. ❤
Rolling vistas without CGI, & an epic, sprawling- & yet intimate story -- my body is ready!
No CGI? Took a supercomputer to de-age Costner as much as they did.
No cgi is usually invisible cgi
@@loganfeal5728
And I'm ok with that- CGI should be a tool to elevate the practical components, not a crutch or replacement
Really sorry it bombed in the theater. My wife and I saw Horizon in the theater and it was awesome on the big screen. If you look at the first movie as a book in the process of world building and character development through cinema it will fascinate you. The photography and scenes created for the movie were panoramic and captured the soul of the frontier along with the majesty of the wilderness. This first movie created a terrific foundation for a great story with characters you care about. We absolutely loved it and hope, at the very least, Netflix and Costner agree to purchase the rest of the series.
This is cinema right here man. Teleporting you to a different era. Music is on point. Ill be there on day one
Kevin has worked his way into the conversation of being one of America's greatest western actors. Up there with Alan Ladd, Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and the great Walter Brennan. I knew he was special when I first saw him in Silverado. As for this Saga, or any other western, I watch with conflicted heart because I'm pretty sure, Native Americans will not be properly portrayed. Not out of ignorance but out protectionism. The protection of how we as a nation got to where we are today. Let's now sugar coat the fact that this great country was built by trampling over anyone or anything that stood in the way of its progress. I won't sit here a lie that I'm not enjoying being born, Black and American because I can see the alternatives all over the world. I hit the lottery being born in America BUT being a student of history, I also have to pay reverence to those that paved the way and NOT forget the innocent peoples who suffered in order for us to be here this day. In the words of Forrest Gump, "and that's all I got to say bout that." :-)
And you said it all👍👍
Well said. ❤
Just watched this and it was great 👍🏼
This is on the watchlist - with Kevin Costner you know every time its gonna be good 👍
This has Oscars written all over it ! You may aswell hand them out now ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
See that's how you do a trailer. Great imagery without spoiling the whole story.
Kevin Costner still has it, Dances with Wolves , Wyatt earp , Open Range. The guy can do any Western drama and u know it's gonna be good 👍, will be seeing this in the movies
Open Range is one of my favorite films. I think we're in good hands with Horizon.
don't forget Silverrado
Honestly, no other genre can quite capture one's spirit like a great Western.
because it's a genre?
RDR2 made me in love with the Old West aesthetic. I discovered a whole new genre I like. I discover Kevin Costner and now I got chills thinking of this saga coming. Though phisically I am as far from the West as from the late 19th century.
long live the native americans
Very tired of people flying around in yoga pants and showing off their super human strength. Glad to see Costner doing another Western.
Sighs* inserts RDR2 disc
This looks gorgeous. A real reason to go to the movie theater again
I've seen this movie and it's awesome! It doesn't deserve the bad reviews. A masterpiece in cinematic arts. 10/10
Dutton and Jenkins back at it again.
Another epic saga from a very good director. And, he always has the best supporting cast as well..this should look great on the big screen…
Just saw it and it was awesome
This looks really good.
We definitely need this
Glad to see some positive comments for the trailer this time around. The first trailer a couple months back had a ton of trolls complaining about colonialism and exploitation etc. Most of which have probably never seen Dances With Wolves. Most of which wouldnt even think to respect their ancestors for helping to build the country which gives them the freedom to complain about it.
Kevin Costner is an American original. I hope this does well. Ill be in the theater the day it premieres.
Is Dances with Wolves where you set the bar for knowledge of colonialism and exploitation? That's what you recommend to the high schoolers to get them up to speed?
tldr
Thank GOD there is still quality shows available on the internet !
This truly has all the makings of a Great Western Epic. Been quite a long time since we've had one of these. Though I really do enjoy the Prequal Yellowstone TV shows.
Owd Kevin loves his Westerns! He's been in two of the best Westerns ever made so this bodes well!
Finally movie about men and women! No lgbt, no blm. Just an old school movie
This movie looks epic. It looks like it's worth watching for the cinematography and music alone.
This is great. I love American sagas. I love westerns. I watch this tris everyday.
Sheridan when he stepped back from Yellowstone "I hope his film is worth it"
Oh Sheridan, I think it is going to be VERY much worth it.
Considering it got a 7 minute standing ovation at Cannas
I believe in Keven Costner!
Western’s have so much potential and I hope this lives up to that! It looks good!
I shall attend with great excitement and anticipation.
I cant wait to see this film. Its supposed to be a two part film and like three hours long. Like Costner's other westerns, you just dont want it to end! He always does such an amazing job. ❤
Kevin Costner was born for this. I really hop this film is great. I miss Westerns so much, unforgiven was the last great movie for me.
Anytime I see a new western film advertised and Kevin Costner I know it’s going to be good.
Returning to the proud tradition of villainizing native americans.
This looks so original and unique...said no one ever. 🙄
I can't wait to see this movie next month. I think it's great it's going to be great love Kevin he's an awesome actor.
Going from oklahoma to cali took me 2 to 3 days by car.
So to think that people had to travel across america by carriage or walk is mind blowing.
The rail (which was still a way off) cut a journey of months, & in some cases years (depending on the weather)- to a few weeks.
We definitely take it for granted that we can be somewhere in mere minutes to hours, to a couple of days at most these days...
One of the rare movies nowadays that is a must see in a cinema.
The man loves so much his country that he always risk it all to made movies about it ! 🎉❤❤❤
God Bless KEVIN COSTNER he is giving us exactly the movie we want to watch, with exuberant desert, non CGI oriented, awesome cast, beautiful cinematography, a Classical Western since we are absolutely sick of Superhero/Marvel/Disney Woke-ish movies
Kevin Costner diretor espetacular de volta com nosso faroeste, música, história, fotografia, paisagens espetaculares viva o cinema ❤❤❤
I'm very excited about this movie. If the trailer is any indication, it's going to be a favorite for years to come, at least for me. However, as a card-carrying member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, I wish a filmmaker would create a movie depicting my Oklahoma neighbors, the Comanche and Kiowa. Nothing at all against the Apache, Sioux and Cheyenne out there, but a film involving the Southern Plains Indians would be a refreshing change. That being said, having parts one and two only in theaters is genius.
Shout out to FDR for creating these incredible national parks!
This makes me nostalgic for 90s epics.
This will actually get me to go to a theatre! Can’t wait.
No CGI just pure cinema storytelling at it's finest.
There is CGI. In almost every movie nowadays. You just don’t see it because it’s used sparely and in a clever non-obvious way.
This may just be the one that brings me back to the cinema.
Kevin C + Western = awesomeness 👌🏻
Kevin Coster rides again!
He sure knows how to sing too. What a talented person!
I hope this is good and Costner gets some (additional) recognition as a result. He has put so much into this I hope it does well.
From 00:20 to 00:50 it sounds like the soundtrack from the movie OBLIVION
That's great the opening dates are so close together.
Excited for another EPIC Western.... looks amazing! :)
Kevin Costner in a western is an American treasure. Kevin, take my money 💰
Kevin Costner,no need to comment further ❤
1983 was incredible, i hope Costner brings some of the Yellowstone style with him
This film looks amazing. Just hope it lives up to the trailer
What's the music? Is it the original score from the movie?
i never go to the theater but for this movie i am,really looking forward to this
The John J Dunbar multiverse? Looks like a KC classic. Excited to watch it.
The history is the same in all countries. American history is similar to Russian. They came to foreign lands, moved into other people's houses and now they consider themselves to be in charge.
This has that real good 90s feel
THIS LOOKS SO GOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you see the opening part of the teaser... "Sorry Dance's with Wolves did it better than this." Then you get Kevin Costner's name slap you in the face... "Okay, I'm listening...Sir!" Then follows beautiful scenery and cinematography... you can only hope Costner still has that magic and he keeps the H-Wood executives off his intellectual property the same way John Dutton would off his actual property.
This looks visually-stunning. Will definitely have to watch this in Imax. Very excited.
Finally, Kevin, you've done the colossal of your dreams! I will definitely watch it ! It's going to be as fantastic as he dances with the wolves! Life to the Native Americans always!
The critics give their reviews, like the way Joker leaves clues. Cryptic negative reviews means it's not "broke" enough for the agenda party in charge.
