@@satioOeinas Probably, yes! 😄 But I watched the (or "a") director's cut of Troy eleven years ago. I specifically remember a scene in the beginning where Hector confronts Paris about a secret affair (Helene) the night before they sail from Sparta back to Troy. Not sure what this one will be about. 🤷🏽♀️
the problem with Director's Cut is that music is changed so much to original that it's like watching different movie sometimes.. Please release original cut with old music.
This Movie had every right to be so much better then it turned out. The Casting was Near Perfect. Eric Bana/Brad Pitt as their respective Hector and Achilles was a once in a lifetime setup.
I remember it getting panned heavily for historical inaccuracies and anachronisms but it honestly was fairly good. "Buhh the god stuff wasn't real hurr hurr". Well yeah. Obviously Dingus.
The original soundtrack when achilles puts his sword out agains boagrius was epic and fits the scene perfectly , this one just completely ruined it and I ask why ? 😅
Anyway, we see here in the movie a king who fights his battles: Odysseus Well, not technically his own battle, but he's at the orders of Agammenon, fighting for all the Greeks, so it could be considered his battle.
This movie shows an underrated version of hector. Hector was equally strong as Ajax and skilled as achilles. This movie shows that achilles killed hector within couple of minutes which is highly impossible. It would have been a long fight.
This movie wanted to make a more grounded, more realistic Troy rather than a mythical one. These are "real people" and there is nothing supernatural about them. Achilles is also not immortal in this film and doesn't have any superhuman abilities, he is just a man who is a highly skilled warrior. There is no such thing as "fighting for days" in real life between two people. Most fights end in seconds, some last minutes, very rarely they go on for a long time and if it's long then both are probably severely injured by the end if not dead with these weapons involved. I like the original Iliad but I prefer this more realistic "what actually could've happened" approach to the film rather than gods, demi-gods, supernatural magical stuff etc.
One of my favourite movies of ALL TIMES!!! Watched it on release...studios had big BALLS back then, not like now, i swear the last time ive seen something this big was Kingdom of Heaven/Mongol and few others probably.....all of these movies came out more than 15 years ago! Hollywood is completely dead.
Achilles should have killed the evil King ,he had a great point that unfortunately ,because they never do that but it could have saved billions of lives over the years ,more .
Theatrical version is far, far better. The music here doesn't fit any scene. It's way to dramatic in non dramatic scenes, and way too non-dramatic in dramatic scenes...
"At this point"???.... This Directors Cut was released in 2007... Stop, take a breath and think about what you actually know before you say something. Too many people are too quick these days to blame Hollywood for this or that when they don't have any of the facts right. I've see people like yourself even go so far as to blame Hollywood for movies that weren't even produced in the United States.... Hollywood is rife with problems, yes. But lazily blaming them for most everything that occurs in the media is also a cultural problem that needs to be worked on.
Who's the guy at 5:22 saying "Look at the men's faces..."?? He sounds identical to a voice in Sea of Thieves but I don't think it is an actor related to that game, Edit: It's John Shrapnel, now deceased. The actor who plays the Mysterious Stranger in Sea of Thieves really sounds like they're channeling this guy here.
Make these types of films again Warner. This was a great phase in the early 2000's. Also, the directors cut needs a 4K release.
Petersen destroyed the Iliad on purpose with this abomination. One of the worst movies of all time.
Mad max
@@panorama4526 Terrible take

Troy was... without a doubt... one of the best movies I've ever seen!
That is why no one will remember your name. Coldest and best line ever.
Rubbish line. Shows a person of excessive ego and ironically low self esteem.
@@ejkalegal3145 no, it as a cheeky way of breaking the fourth wall and having Achilles portray himself as a man who knows he is legendary.
And there is a legend that the boy here is actually Homer who is remembered just because he wrote about Achilles.
Massive line
@@Kontorotsui I was wondering if the boy indeed had a name, or if it was mentioned elsewhere. Thanks!😅
my most favorite scene and above all the dialogue between Achilles and Agmamnon
I love historical war films and this is one of my favourite.
The last samurai, 300, braveheart and kingdom of heaven are some of the best
no they aren't
You also just picked some of the most historically inaccurate movies to come out of Hollywood. But yeah, they're all great movies :)
KOH Directors cut takes it for me. Truly an epic film.
Wow, you actually did manage to list all the absolutely ZERO historical accuracy movies out there))
But, yes, I also love such movies
I'm talking about great movies not historical accuracy.
If you want to learn history from Hollywood then you're biggest idiot.

Trojan war and Alexander the Great are hundreds of years apart.
Fact: Pitt suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon during filming, the irony.

Exactly that. Hate the directors cut. Really wish they'd release blu ray of the theatrical cut
Yup
Well, that's the point of a director's cut.
This is the director's intended score of choice.
@@CinemaRescored and its better more dramatic and tense
The worst is how hard is to find the theatrical cut on blu ray.

I agree. Changing the soundtrack ruined it.
