    Wow, that is one of the most thorough installation videos I have ever watched. Not just on smokers, but anything. Thanks. I'm still thinking about getting the 560 and wanted to see what I might be in for with this.Thanks Nathan.

    Installed this today on my 800 - followed the video and no issues whatsoever. These replacement plates are substantially thicker than the pathetically thin factory plates. Also, no friggin way that insulation is going to survive once the factory sheetmetal burns away. It is fragile and the charcoal/lump moving against it will tear it up. My factory plates burnt thru after 12 cooks, most of which were low and slow so they didn't see much high heat at all. Masterbuilt is full of crap. Thanks Klotes!

    Worked like a charm. I did one thing differently: I used C-clamps before the part where you said installing the long wood would be difficult to install sides to the cooker. After the wood was install, I remove the clamps. Nice and ease.

    Just received my order today! Fantastic fit and finish on every part. Can’t wait to install and cook.
    I highly recommend any of these upgrades right from the start as I wish I had done. Would’ve saved time and aggravation.

    Nathan - Do any of your current stainless steel mods fit the new Masterbuilt Gravity 800 model with griddle? Do you plan to offer mods for the 800? Thanks.

      The firebox is the same on all of the Masterbuilt Gravity feed grills..so it should fit.

    Anybody know what that insulation is made of? The only thing I know of that could handle that level of heat is asbestos.

    Great mod, I am looking at buying an 800 soon. Have masterbuilt actually contacted you at all regarding any of these mods? They make total sense.

    Hi Nathan, I've watched your video a couple times and I have a few questions.1 Would it be any advantage to keep the old steel plates for double wall protection? I plan on installing the mod before 1st use so they would be new. 2. The original gasket you tore and replaced it with the Lavalock. We should just scrap it off whether it's torn or not and replace it? 3. The insulation you re removing, is that the actual firebrick? 4.It looks like the back wall had no insulation behind it, is that correct? 5. I assume the wood supports will just burn off or should they be removed? 6. Does the top hopper keep the new pieces in position since it slides in to the bottom? Thank you.

    • @KlotesMods
      @KlotesMods  4 года назад +9

      the old steel plates have to be removed because the extra thick new plates are alot smaller on the inside because of the thickness that why in the video i say you have to cut about a 1/4" of the insulation off to fit in the new plates. 2 if you dont tear the factory gasket leave it on there but i would still use the lavalock i provide but stick it the the bottom of the upper half of the hopper. 3 yes the insulation is the masterbuilt is calling the firebrick 4. the back wall had insulation on it. it was stuck on the the sidewall of the hopper and the steel came off so i just left it on there no need to remove it but you need to remove yours and reinstall with the stainless 5. the wood supports i just forgot on the video to say to knock them out i do think they probably would burn out but to prevent any charcoal clog ups its best to just knock them out once the hopper is all back together. 6. yes the top hopper does hold the plates in place

    Why not replace with actual firebrick? Like the Chargriller has?

    Nate these are GREAT products. Constructive criticism please list your site as text at beginning middle and end of video. I have watched all your videos and only hear you mention where to buy one, but its something-mods so not very specific. I have a 1050 and like your 560 vent over your competitors. Do you offer a vent for 1050??? Please list site in text.

    Nathin, I can not get into marketplace on facebook. It saying something about me not having an upgraded account or something. I waited 45+ days and tried again and facebook does not give me access.
    Can I buy your firebox mod another way? I am also interested in the back vent cover but I have not tried to link to that yet. Your video did not show you opening the hood after install. So I guess there is nothing special about that.
    Help please

    • @KlotesMods
      @KlotesMods  2 года назад

      dont need the mbb replacement kit. just reuse the insulation with the stainless plates that i sell. if for some reason you break one of the pieces of insulation then yes i would by the replacement kit just for the the insulation

    Seems like a lot of work instead of just getting the LSS mods firebox. How is this any different / better then that one?

    • @KlotesMods
      @KlotesMods  Год назад +1

      first off it isnt way more work it takes like 5 mins more time to do it right vs puting a bandaid on it and having more problems later. the 4 piece is wayyy better because it allows the stainless to move as it gets hot. if you dont know stainless move/warps wayyy more than regular steel so having separate pieces helps alot. the solid sleeve warps alot ive seen some that have enclose the space by almost half. the 4 piece does warp was well but its impossible for it to constrict the area because the plates sit inside channels and are held in by the hopper itself where the LSS is just hanging loose at the bottom and can realy constrict the space and cause the charcoal to bridge.

    • @PeighUpRC
      @PeighUpRC Год назад

      @@KlotesMods appreciate the info. Since all stainless steel will warp with high temps why not use a different material like actual fire bricks?

    • @KlotesMods
      @KlotesMods  Год назад +1

      @@PeighUpRC because of the limited thickness that they can be and there is already ceramic fiber easiest thing to do is cover it with something thin enough to still work but protect the fiber and not flake away like the mild steel that comes with it like the factory plates do.
