    The fact that modern cars share or potentially share data with third parties is why I am keeping my current car as long as I possibly can as it is not connected to the Internet. Also I try to make sure that I control the permissions on apps that are on my iPhone so that they don't share data excessively.

    Congratulations on producing OVER 100 Episodes! Having recently visited the ‘Watches of Switzerland’ showroom in The Wynn Esplanade (Las Vegas)… WOW!… I have to say that I don’t see any timepiece that will replace my Daily Seiko SKX 007 in the near future. It’s a beater watch, it’s not worth robbing me, although I love it’s history (with me)… I’m not worried about losing it (once at Aylen Lake last year for about 10 months) or breaking it. But if I were to consider a more premium timepiece… I’d love to see a Patek Calatrava (White face with Roman Numerals) or a SINN U50 (on a NATO or Rubber) on my wrist. Thanks for the video.

    Great videos! In regard to cars sending data…..on BMW’s at least, you select the amount of privacy under your profile, in car it asks how much info you want to share with them and it’s up to you to select the level of privacy, I’m sure other manufacturers ask these same questions, so it’s up to the driver to configure when new.

    I like your show and I think you have good chemistry together that makes people want to watch the channel. Why do you think there is a lot of brand loyalty from people. I have a friend that will only buy Ford products because his dad always bought ford products. I have a brother in law whose dad worked at GM and he only will buy GM products. My dad only bought GM products as I grew up in Oshawa and there was a GM plant here and I have never had a GM car other than a Pontiac Vibe which was actually Toyota and it was my favourite car. I have had mostly Honda's with the exception of a Nissan truck once and a Ford mustang, which was my first car and was a total lemon and I probably would not buy another ford even if they have gotten better. I have tried on two Occasions to buy a Toyota but could not due to the long wait time for the product. Why do many people stick only to one brand ?

There are and will be more and more hybrids with very good mileage and like Zack mentioned for certain areas (being CA or US) is a very risky proposition to hop on the EV wagon.I just bought an ICE car(hybrid) that I am planning to use for some years to come and I am honestly not afraid it will be obsolete by the time I may think to change it and/or the EV technology will become a more appealing option, ironing the kinks, more affordable, better infrastructure etc Or maybe there will be a new technology that will pop up sometimes. Who knows, But for the time being and for the foreseeable future ICE will stay and whoever says otherwise may be simply BS ing you

    Newer vehicles and phones no longer have physical SIM cards that can be pulled. They use embedded electronic e-SIM. I rather like being able to see information about vehicle status and use on my phone. What I'd like most to see is a requirement that all vehicles transmit identifying information to each other - sort of an electronic license plate. This would reduce some of the hit-and-run and aggressive behavior nonsense. And all vehicles should have continuously recording surround cameras like Tesla for the same reason.

    Agree with Andrea, its the batteries that will be the big expense for an EV. Battery plants in EV's are supposed to be good for 10-20 years. The original Tesla's are just hitting that 20 year mark so we don't really have data on how long a battery plants will last past 20 years for mass produced vehicles. That said if you are keeping an EV I would extend the warranty if it covers the battery plant. Battery place replacement costs 10-15K.

    I mean this respectfully........... Everyone deserves a livable wage no matter what they do for work. Should other jobs pay more absolutely, but the bare minimum job should be enough for an okay living. What you said about baristas was very boomer-ish. I was a Starbucks barista for 3 years before I was a truck driver (I now make 100K). And let me tell you this. Barista was a harder job. Any job is a skilled work and they deserve dignity. Should people in trades nursing schooling and what not get get paid more yes but the people on the bottom should make enough to live on.

    • @Ela-cw7fi
      @Ela-cw7fi 5 месяцев назад

      I mean this respectfully.
      All jobs are not created equal and to think that EVERY SINGLE JOB should provide a livable wage is not realistic.
      Your comment about how hard you worked has nothing to do with determining your wages. You can use a fancy name but you made/served drinks in a coffee shop - albeit Starbucks - its still a coffee shop.
      Hear me out -
      10, 15, 20 years ago, a job at a restaurant, whether it be Tim Horton's, Starbucks, Burger King, McDonalds or in retail were designed to be PART-TIME jobs for students, individuals who wanted to fill a stop-gap. This was the reason why we (individuals, students, families) could afford to grab a decent meal, or consume a drink at a relatively reasonable price.
      Fast forward to 2024 and now everyone wants to turn these jobs into a career and expect the employer to be responsible for footing the bill. Wages are only a percentage of operating a business and people assume that regardless of profit or loss, the employer should guarantee an hourly or annual salary, benefits and bonus.
      How does a business make a profit?

      @@Ela-cw7fi and two more things. Do you think I give a flying crap about a corporation that doesn't pay their employees well enough? Somewhere a domino has to fall especially here in these states. And I don't care how it falls or where it falls because at the end of the day. This is some grade A b.s. I will never feel bad for corporations. My generation probably won't ever freaking retire. It's plain to see they do not care about us. Why should we care about them?.

    Why did you bring up Hyundai tracking if you didn't know they did? Be careful outing companies...

    • @andreaspencer9813
      @andreaspencer9813 5 месяцев назад

      I wasn't outing anyone, I was simply stating that two viewers reached out to me to say they bought a new Hyundai and the feature to track your driving is no longer available in their vehicles. They don't need to worry about data being shared as it doesn't exist for them in their vehicles. However in the same New York Times article about LexusNexis sharing GM data to insurance companies, it also stated modern cars are internet-enabled, allowing access to services like navigation, roadside assistance and car apps that drivers can connect to their vehicles to locate them or unlock them remotely. In recent years, automakers, including G.M., Honda, Kia and Hyundai, have started offering optional features in their connected-car apps that rate people’s driving. Some drivers may not realize that, if they turn on these features, the car companies then give information about how they drive to data brokers like LexisNexis “Telematics Exchange,” a “portal for sharing consumer-approved connected car data with insurers.” As of 2022, the exchange, according to a LexisNexis news release, has “real-world driving behavior” collected “from over 10 million vehicles.”

    Tesla high cost of mechanics, what does that mean? Maybe that person can clarify. Battery is a concern but the MG EV just announced a life time battery warranty. We know this is always evolving and competition will drive those prices power and lower.

      Hourly rate. Is on the high side on cars out of warranty. I should also add that parts when needing replacement are also expensive compared to domestic or Japanese brands that have a large aftermarket production capability which Tesla does not.

      Oh and! 😊My question had nothing to do about the battery, which has a seperate warranty. It was about the general warranty.

      @@Rob_Townships I called a few local shops where I live and the labour rates are no different. What parts are being replaced?

      @@vancity2349 no worries. The 200km seperate battery warranty is great. So I have zero battery concerns today. The extended warranty Tesla offers is what I was referring too only, it’s to cover the general warranty, which is separate.
      For briefness in my question, as Zack asks 😜, I mentioned only the labour. But I could have also mentioned the extended warranty covers parts defects etc. So parts and labour can be costly on teslas. That’s the only reason I’m thinking of extending

      Outback bouncy?? Have never heard that one. I drive a 21 Outback Touring and already at 90k no problem what so ever and space ride bigger fuel tank. I will stick with the Outback all day. Plus you can get the turbo in the Outback.

      @@thomasb.1124 obviously the Outback appeals to many people. My father in law who’s in his 80s loves his. He’s had 2 at my suggestion because it’s basically bullet proof.
      But the steering is vague at best, and its suspension is soft and bouncy.

    Lexus Nexus is the most despicable data collection company in any industry. Insurance companies nowadays are also among the most despicable businesses and are taking advantage of the situation. My premium went from $47 a month on March 2020 to $158 a month now. Amerika the land of thieves and Canada is perhaps the same.
