I just had implant surgery last week, and so far, things are going well. I’ve been following post op instructions to a tee. My dad had dental implant surgery a few months ago. He had a steak a day or two after surgery and developed an infection at the implant site . . . he’s not very bright 😂
Thank you for good information. He's a great, trustworthy doctor.
Thanks for the briefing. I’m about to have an implant procedure and now I know what to expect and be able to discern what is normal and what is abnormal. Will probably eliminate any unnecessary calls to my oral surgeon!
Glad we could help!
@stanleybarton I am so happy for you!!!! I hope everything goes well.
What if you need all teeth removed and will get implant supported dentures but i have a tendency of clenching my teeth while sleeping, how would i avoid adding pressure to the implants?
Very informative thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video. Clear, informative graphics and great presentation from Doc. This is the best implant post-op instructions in RUclips!!
Wow, thank you! We always appreciate your feedback
Great video filled with tons to very useful information! Thanks for these tips as I will be seeing the dentist very soon for a consultation for implants! I'm not so afraid anymore😃
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your implant procedure!
Great video. I just had a dental implant yesterday here in Thailand. The doctor spoke quite good English, but didn't explain everything to me as clearly as you did in this video. Will be sure to pay attention to all the points made here. Thank you doctor.
Glad our video was helpful! Thank you for watching and if you have any other questions or comments, please leave a comment!
Whether implant surgery was painful
How long was your recovery/pain?
GOOD EXPLANATION.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for explaining stuff, you have repeated what my surgeon said and I thought he was being awkward not putting my temps in !
Glad we could help! Hope your recovery is going well!
I am impressed.. Watching from Saudi Arabia
Glad we could help!
I had a tooth extracted and an implant placed the same day. How long before the swelling peaks and should start to go down? Thanks for creating and sharing this video. It was very informative.
It will take a couple days for the swelling to start settling down. Using an ice pack on and off for the first day and taking medications as directed can help to minimize this.
I’m glad this video helped! Hope you have a good and quick recovery
Just had four implants done!! Wasn’t that bad
Awesome!!
Thank you Doctor !
You are welcome! Glad we could help!
2 implants placed yesterday, both perforated my sinus. Dentist is waiting to see how healing goes and if implants take. If they fail to integrate I need to start over, but I cannot afford to start all over 😢
Hoping for a good and easy recovery process for you. Keep us updated with how things are going over the next few months!
@@smileonyouandblessedsmile thank you. At my follow up yesterday, things seem to be healing, although we have to wait awhile to assess integration, etc... But so far, no pain or infection (of course the antibiotics were on board until Monday). I asked how far into the sinuses the implants were and the dentist said 1 maybe 2 mm. From what I've heard, I think this was good news. He said the membrane will heal and so will the bone.
Gonna have my first teeth implant in 3 days.
How did it go? Hope this video helped to answer any questions you might have had after your procedure!
@@smileonyouandblessedsmile it went well and smooth. And i didnt feel any pain/swelling at all after the surgery. Now i need to take good care of the implant before the crown placement in 4 months time.
@@Siaomi24 That is awesome to hear! Wishing you a quick and easy recovery!
what about exercising and going to the gym almost no body talked about this .. at what week i am able to hit the gym and lift weight .. for both regular dental implant and sinus lift?
We recommend that immediately after the procedure, you do avoid any heavy exercise. After about 3 weeks, you should be ok to go back to the gym, but may still be good to avoid any heavy weights and heavy cardio which may require you to breath heavier. We want to be as gentle as we can with the sinuses for the first couple weeks. Hope this helps!
do you know if there should be a blood clot covering the titanium rod ? I noticed it's visible and thought it should be covered as a part of the healing process?
It depends on the technique your surgeon used when placing the implant. Some will be done all in one-stage where they will leave a metal healing cap exposed through your gums which you may see inside your mouth. There are other situations, where surgeons will choose to cover up the healing cap with your gums.
I know I am responding months later, but if any concerns, make sure to reach out to your dentist!
What about numbness after implants are placed? My lip, chin and a few teeth on my lower right side are still numb one month after the impants were placed. The implants have felt fine. No pain. No infection. The dentist said the nerve gets pressured and there can be numbness for weeks, even months. It is not uncommon. What can be done to get the feeling back sooner? Massage not really working. Massage the nerve area or massage the numb area? B Vitamins were recomended to heal the nerve.
Sometimes numbness can occur after implants are placed. Sounds like your dentist has made some good recommendations for how to take care of the area. I would certainly agree with everything they have recommended! Massaging the whole area will help! Just make sure not to put too much pressure when massaging the numb area.
Whether now your numbness is okay
@@vishnuvinu-gu9xz I still have some numbness, but I think it is improving very slowly. It was never full numbness. Maybe 30%. Just feels like a puffy, rubbery lower lip on the right side and a little rubery feeling on the lower right jaw. The jaw is much less. At this rate, it may take a year for it to fully go away, but at least it seems to be heading in that direction, although very slowly. I've tried a number of things. Not sure I can say anything has really worked other than just time.
Whether this process was painful
And also for placing a implant literally it takes how much time? Like one hour or else
My implants healed wonderfully, But the crowns they installed are hurting my surrounding gums, and the tooth next to the implant is sensitive. He did have to cut away some gum material that grew around the implants while I was healing,In order to put the crowns on. Its been a couple of days, Im hoping my gums heal and my tooth looses its sensitivity
Although its hard for me to say what is happening exactly, it usually takes a few days-weeks for things to completely settle down. Hope things are starting to feel better, and if not, might be a good idea to reach out to your dentist.
Any updates? Did the pain go away?
Thank you
Our pleasure! Hope your recovery process is going great!
Where can i get a simple text version of this, I need visual prompts, for me utube is mostly useless.
You can likely get a copy of the instructions reviewed by looking up "Implant Post Op Instructions" on google or your favorite search engine!
I had a full mouth implants 12 on top first and 12 on the bottom, and no one told me any of this. I'm on my first set of temp teeth and still no info how they will take them out.
How old are you??
Alcohol was not mentioned. Is it okay to have a drink or two a week after surgery?
We generally recommend refraining from alcohol for the first few weeks after surgery to allow your best chance at recovery. In addition, you definitely do not want to be drinking if you are still taking any antibiotics or pain medications!
Is the no pressure on the site only important in those first few months when the implant is new? I have TMJ and I clench and grind my teeth like crazy and i feel like im going to damage my implant. What do you recommend?
It is very critical especially in the first few months after your implant placement. Your dentist will most likely design the implant crown in a way that it should not be affected by your clenching or grinding. But wearing a night guard given to you by your dentist is always a good idea.
I got 3 implants, I am miserable... Thanks for info.. dentist didn't tell me this info!
I am sorry to hear that... Hope you are doing better now! I am glad this video was able to get you some good information. Please make sure to share it with any friends or family who may be also going through a dental implant procedure!
@@smileonyouandblessedsmile much 💕 thanks!
I cannot go a month without blowing my nose or sneezing. It’s natural
We understand that blowing your nose or sneezing is a very natural process, that sometimes cannot be completely avoided. Just make sure to try your best every time to avoid doing so, just to make sure to give yourself the best chance of healing. Hope this helps!
@@smileonyouandblessedsmilethat would be very hard for me. I suffer from very bad allergies & sinuses. But I need implants asap!
Sir i have placed two implacnts of my two front upper tooth and its already 3 months. I want to ask that how i much time will i hv to wait for the final crown after putting my abutment
The time that you need to wait before the implant is ready to put the tooth on depends on a number of different factors. This can include considerations such as: the initial stability of implant when being placed, quality of bone into which the implant was placed, or the need for extraction or removal of infection before placing the implant. Depending on all these factors, your doctor will have recommendations for how long you may need to wait.
If you want to find out, never hurts to reach out to your dentist to see around when you would be ready!
Can you workout after surgery?
Depending on the extent of the workout, its likely a good idea to wait at least 2-3 days before going back to working out.
❤️
:-)
Hey, very informative. I enjoy smoking pipe tobacco. I wonder when I can continue? Thanks.
I feel bad, had six implants this week but im vaping.. nobody said anything about it either.
Generally staying away from any type of smoking is the most ideal for the healing process of the implants. The longer you can stay away, the more benefit you will get!
Never..its bad for the gums
I had my implants done with clearchoice...this video is more informative than anything they told me
Oh God am bad with my sneezing. what to do what to do?
Try out some of the tips that we talked about in this video! But I definitely understand that it is not easy.
Hi so do not eat on that side much for how long ? its been 9 days now for me and i see a small metal post is that normal? is it possible for that post to fall out?
Hello! You want to try avoid eating on that side for as long as possible until you get the tooth installed on top. The small metal post that you see might be the healing cap that was placed, but if you are concerned about what you see, it might be a good idea to reach out to your dentist!
@@smileonyouandblessedsmile yes that's what i am doing no chewing on that side at all .
Avoid smoking for how long ?
Forever. Smoking is bad for the gums
@@sallyhamimed7712 Smoking is bad for everything but my question is when is it critical to stay away from smoking.
Thank you
As another commenter mentioned, ideally best to try to quit smoking when you can! But for your implant healing, you definitely will want to avoid smoking for at least a few weeks while the tissues are closing up around the site.
Ohhh my!! My implant didn’t heal 🥹🥹 could these reasons be why it did not
There are many reasons for why an implant does not heal properly, some of which may have been mentioned in this video. Hope you were able to get it checked out and hope you are starting to do better!
Very informative thanks
You're welcome!
