    It would be interesting to see if you can set up the camera (exposure etc) for the best live feed and then fix up the onboard recording with some suitable color grading. ND Filters and motion blur are going to be the problem though... you can't fake that very well.

      The O3 camera is compatible with the ND filters for the Avata. Yes you wont be able to lock the shutter speed but you'll be able to get the auto exposure in the right range

    • @xjet
      @xjet Год назад +1

      @@cobynweston8124 The problem is that you don't really want motion-blur in your live-video feed. It can obscure small details that are important when you're flying close proximity or at speed. For example, it's much harder to judge exactly how high you're flying (at low level) if you've got a lot of motion-blur. If such things aren't important then no problem but, as Chris so correctly states, this probably isn't the best option for proximity or fast flying anyway.

    For the GoPro I highly suggest an ND-Filter, Flat Color and a fixed exposure at 180°, i.e. 1/60 at 30fps. If it is overexposed and has to pull detail back from a bright image, you get this kind of mushy oversaturated sometimes overblown look with pumping auto-exposure that you just see here in this image. I bet with the right settings the O3 will loose even to a Hero 9 - in your comparison it dealt a lot better with high exposure though. (the Mini 2 does as well - somehow the Hero9 really has a weak spot in bright light. This was quite a hard learning curve for me in the sunny swiss mountains, too :)

    Well I'd say comparison between gopro9 and O3 wasnt fair.
    First - you can use NDs on boths cameras. But the biggest issue I think is running GoPro at 30p and DJI O3 at 60p. There's 2x more frames on the O3 unit, that's why I think some shadow details were mushy when comparing them side by side. Fair comparison would be to run them at same frame rates and resolutions.

    • @ChrisRosser
      @ChrisRosser  Год назад +1

      I understand the desire to want to set the framerate the same on both. However, that takes away the key advantage for the GoPro which is that it doesn't have to run at the same framerate as your FPV camera. 4k30 is better for motion blur and image quality.

    Only downside is, that your filming settings are your FPV view settings (including fps affecting latency, colors, exposure etc). This could even be an upside if you're trying to do cinematic shots, as what you see is what you get. But definite downside if you're trying to fly crazy freestyle but want your footage to have more cinematic settings

    • @MrPashee

      Sometimes it's downside but for cinematic video you have to use manual settings all the time. So it's very good to see real recorded image while shooting. If they do, I wouldn't think those effect the 4K recording image quality, do they? Because if they don't, we could adjust the Goggles 2 to fly into those shadows by raising the brightness, and maybe a small amount of contrast for balance. That way we could eliminate the issue about flying aggressive freestyle, and close to objects in the shadows, with brightening up the Googles 2 image. 🤔
