From personal experience the gropo beats the o3 in a bunch of areas. Low light it is far superior at, which wasn't really captured in this video. It clearly can capture more colors, the o3 footage looks more dull and is more difficult to stretch in post. The bitrate of the Gopro is noticeably higher. And finally, the dynamic range is a bit better on the gropo. Of course the o3 is amazing for what it is, but the gopro is still king for image quality.

Shoot in 2.7k60 or 120 and EIS off in wide FOV, I have files that are 150mbps, then feed that footage into Gyroflow for the lens correction and smoothing if you desire and then export in 4k. I sold my hero10 bones because I didn't feel I needed it anymore, the money went towards more o3 airunits 😁For commercial use then GoPro is going to be valuable, but for RUclips content for funsies then O3 ALL THE WAY!!!

absolutely agree but have we lost sight of what the aim is here? are we trying to shoot a grammy award winning movie or just fly and maybe share footage of an awesome flight? the fact O3 is even being compared to GoPro speaks to the fact action cameras are dead unless your doing it for film instead of fun freestyle.

@@RookieRay This is sort of how I view it, especially when the decision is naked gopro vs o3. Am I being paid for it? I'll risk the brittle naked gopro. GoPro 11 and into the future will be improved noticeably much better than O3.
But if you're just filming your own freestyle clips is it really worth that extra weight and drastically changing how your drone flys to get 10bit and better dynamic range especially in shadows? I say no.
The one thing that holds O3 back 5:18 is being able to shoot in motion blur (low FPS and double the shutter speed) eg 30FPS 60 shutter speed to get juicy motion blur - if you do this you must fly with 30FPS in the goggles. For freestyle always use 100FPS in the O3 as it has the lowest latency regardless of resolution, don't use 120FPS it has more latency than 100FPS.
Is GoPro worth the weight trade off if you're a actually trying to get a video shot of something? Of course, because your goal is no longer freestyle flying and fun - its filming :)

The GoPro footage definitely has a lot more room for color grading, but I think I liked the look of a lot of the O3 footage right outa the cam better. Was the GoPro set to Protune and the O3 to D-Cinelike?? That is a really good point about cam exposure tho, trying to see in the dark trees is already hard enough on analog. I like to be able to see my flights after the fact. But I haven't bothered to make a flight video in two years. When I look at my footage the biggest limiting factor is my flying not the camera. Most people probably learn faster than me. But I'd say if you're starting out a GoPro isn't worth it until you can fly well.

I have 2 O3 quads and an Avata, from my experience flying 3 of them with my Hero 11, the DJI O3's footages (in 10 bit) is nowhere near the Gopro Hero 11 in term of image clarity, dynamic range and color reproduction, especially in low light or flying direct to the sun. DJI's image look dark in the shadow and burned out in the highlight, color looks dull and very hard to color grade, the most frustrating part of color grading O3's footage for me was the color shift while changing direction of the quad away or toward the sun.

O3 is enough if you're not professional. Downside of the O3, DJI forgot INAV and Ardupilot flyers exist, the OSD is lacking, they only support BF. BF OSD glyphs are way less than INAV and Ardupilot. Next time, do better, DJI.

  • @evilgeniusfpv4098
    @evilgeniusfpv4098 Год назад

The O3 us sharper and has more detail in what it can see. The issue in my mind is having to fly what you shoot in. 30fps I think would be hard to fly accurately. Gopro wins in dynamic range, and the fact you fly whatever video you want, but the color science and image quality of DJI are superior. But is that the question? If I had to chose I'm going to say Gopro even with all the hype above because of versatility. That said I fly an Action2 😂

I love the idea of the weight savings.
    3.5" + 03 is a compelling little package...
but the adjustability of frame rates and just the better image will keep me tossing on a GoPro...
but building a 10" will fly that with just o3... why loose another $300 if something happens...

The gopro makes my quad almost twice as high leaving 5 centimeters of space above and under the quad where there was 10:) Making gaps more challenging and potentially more expensive. Also your example is great: I would hate to use the O3 and go back to 2.7K for 120fps to slow mo that sweet action where the gopro can do 4k/120 (which I love!). But I would chicken out adding the extra money on the quad flying over water doing fast chases. I even chickened out indoors chasing karts:) Then I see those indoor shots of the O3 in low light and wished I had the balls to use the Gopro (mini 11). I would call the O3 my pussy camera but I think that would come across differently

I love lighter kwads, and I was on the same boat trying to not use GP and only the O3. I found a very simple settings on O3 that I am really happy and I am not using any action cam for more than 6 months. The settings is 2.7 120fps and camera settings on auto EXCEPT EV +0.7 that is it. No problem with low light anymore. 🤘🚀

That o3 cam on the stem is probably what's causing jello.

One of the big decision factors with me is the fact there is no mic on the o3. Also the color and dynamic range on the GoPro is quite a lot better, I really appreciate good image quality.

Try setting EV +0.7 it helps a lot with dynamic range
