Hey man. Would you be able to tell about benefits for a married man who is joing the army (does the army pay during the basic training for housing, for hard time ? Etc)

First time out of AIT and I went into the office and stood at parade rest and I got told to relax and they handed me a box and I ended up holding it for 10+ minutes and I had a staff sergeant apologize for not seeing me holding it that long, it’s crazy how different it is.

My unit was in Germany. When I wasn't in the field, I had time to travel and party. It was one of the best times of my life.

My son is 18 and graduating basic training in 3 weeks. When he calls once a week he says it's hard. Then another week it's not so bad. He seems to be struggling and as a mom I just feel bad for my baby being so far away and I know that day to day it's hard.

I was in OSUT at Fort Benning. Well sometime in the middle of my cycle the name changed to Fort Moore. But honestly OSUT sucked. There were very strict rules and barely any freedom until around graduation time from AIT. My company basically got treated like we were in red phase the entire cycle. Now what’s even worse is that you’re stuck with the same people in the same place for 22 weeks basically, doing the exact same thing every single day. And then it wasn’t until I got to my duty station when I realized how completely different the “big army” is compared to how tradoc is. In the big army you have more freedom and nobody is there to hold your hand. Basic training and AIT just teaches you the basics on how to survive and live in the big army. Although some things are still the same.

I’m leaving for basic at fort Jackson in four days. I’m really anxious about it but I’m trying my best to keep a positive mindset.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I served in several bad units where they would screw soldiers over to make themselves look good

Have you made a video of things that can get you kicked out of the army? I just started to do some research about the army because I'm entertaining the idea of joining the army. But I'm just afraid of not being enough and getting kicked out.

i spent 2 years in TRADOC.... not a chapter or a med board... just went to basic, got recycled, then went to ait (ima 68w btw so it was at fort sam) got recycled for trouble, then i got reclassed to 92F (petroleum specialist) and started my cycle, got recycled, then i had to wait the long process of getting chaptered. currently Jan. 15, 2023 and i'm re enlisting and i have to go back to basic 🥲
