RUclips is really giving me an insight into farming. Learning a lot of things I had no idea about. The one thing I already knew, farming is a lot of work.
More risk than work because I don’t count fun work as full work. It’s difficult to make good money from farming. It’s also very dangerous if you’re not paying attention. Man vs Machine = Machine ALWAYS wins. Absolutely must be thinking of safety with every decision you make around equipment.
Farming hay is time consuming but a way to make it faster is u can get a baler where it has the rake behind da tractor and the baler behind the rake so it gets it done faster and u don't have to worry about the bale coming out all wonky
@Hudson Funk i have just uploaded a grass cutting compilation to my channel please feel free to check it out and drop a like sub and comment if you enjoy
As someone who's lived in the city all their life and gone on holidays in other cities only, I find this really fascinating. A really good insight into farming and what the large hectares of land are used for when you see them on the train
Great to see that you and your Dad can work so well together! He must be proud! You guys have a ton of money invested in your farm and equipment. You seem to have that "Gitter Done" attitude and I wish you all well.
It’s nice to see a fellow South Dakotan show the world how we farm in this state. I just discovered your channel, loved the video and keep up the good work!
@@cookcattleco.5731 No need to use a tedder when your cutting .........standing dead grass........way over mature ! Of course theres no need for them ..... weeeeeee
The great thing about your video is that you give your viewers the sights and the "sound". This adds "Realism". Many others play music during the entire video. In my opinion, viewers want to hear the tractor run and hear all of the other noises. We want to feel like we are there. You provided that in your video. Good Going!
It's fascinating to me to see these videos! The amount of time it takes and the amount of equipment needed, plus the very satisfying outcome! Thank you Cole for making these videos! It's a lot if work but you make it very interesting and intriguing to watch! Look forward to seeing your videos! Love the Dad stories too, and Ellie!
We shared this video with my preschool class! I loved seeing the lines you made while cutting, raking and bailing! It was perfect!! Great aerial photography, that was soooo cool!
Thank you for the interesting video and bringing this sort of content to the non-farming world. You have a knack for teaching and explaining things from your experience which is very useful! Well Done!
Wow !!! Absolutely wonderfull crop of hey in that awsome long field.. excellent video good job on the footage an also nice to see that someone else does some thinking ahead before loading an unloading of bales an cropping ..we too did the same .. as well as the skipping of winrows .. sooo much better than taking sharp turns as it’s so hard on equipment making tight turns .. my dad taught me that too..👍👍 I can soo relate to you as you say you learnt from ur dad .. jus 4 yrs ago I got diagnosed with a incurable disease an crippled bad a year later my dad got lung disease an I lost him jus not too long ago.. my mother an I couldn’t keep going with the farm an had to sell everything .. I’m from Ontario canada..but have been down in your area several times over the years an love the farm land there .. thanks an stay safe while getting the crops in.. 👍👍
Just discovered you! Nice. I enjoy seeing South Dakota and Wisconsin farms on here. I use to live in SD for a few years. Box Elder, SD near Rapid City. Little more hilly terrain there. Black Hills. Passed by you many times driving between WI and SD on ol' I90. South Dakota is such an underrated state in terms of beauty to me. Anybody who doesn't like rural living would disagree, but I sure loved it.
Used to go to Punjab every summer during high school. Did lot of farm work. Farming life is tough physically but man so much better than city life. Milked buffalo and cows with hand helped lift bales of wheat.
Great and very instructional video 👏👏 I'm so glad that you shared your past mistakes. Will help us green horns from possibly damaging a lot of machinery 👍👍 thanks
I feel like such a city guy, I had no idea farming took so much work and used so much large machinery. I don’t even know what you use those stacks of grass for. Very interesting👍🏽
Very interesting how hard work it is to make food for livestock. Even though "hay delivery day" (just 1 bale for my horse, we're boarding on a self-catering horse barn) is that one annoying day of the month, I always love to open up a new bale once it's in storage. Hay smells soooooo good. 😌😌😌
Don't be so hard on yourself, young man. Live, love, laugh and sing. Be sure to tell you how much your loved. Life is easy, joyful and we are powerful creators.
Very informative, precise and some fun, what else ? I see that american farmers (I'm French) don't all use brand new and expensive equipment, and high tech devices to run their business, but you're doing here quite a good job ! Thanks a lot for sharing
Great video! Well done. Just what I needed because we are getting ready to buy equipment soon. It’s good to start getting this process in my head and start the brainstorming before we even purchase the equipment.
I loved this video!! Thank you so much for filming your work and editing so well!! This was so aesthetically pleasing ❤🙏🏿 and your music choice was awesome 👌🏿 I love me some tall grass, it is such beautiful foliage! I also really love how grass is harvested and dried for farm animals food, it's like the rice and beans for livestock lol. Your equipment is so cool and I really appreciate how you explain your methodology and the history behind why your process is the way it is. I've wanted to learn how hay bales are harvested and im so thankful to have found your wonderful video. I'm looking forward to learning more about your farm life!
Awesome video. You make it easy and simple to understand. I see those big bails on a farm by my place and I wonder how the hell did some guy roll that huge bail ? I thought it was hand rolled. Nice to see how it is done and you mastered it with best techniques and don't waste a minute on it. Thank you
Hello, very interesting way to hay. When mowing we use a front mower and a side mower, so that the freshly cut grass is not contaminated by crossings. Greetings from Hessen / Germany
Last year we got a new Case IH Quadtrac 620. I’ve personally put 50 hours on it just going through all the pasture we have. Dad doesn’t like it when I joy ride but than I remind him he did buy it for me. 😂
ken lucas It is. Gets used a lot when I’m at school. They use it for the discs and planters thingies. That and we donate our time at the mudbogs sometimes so that’s fun. I’ve only pulled one truck out tho. Usually they only want dad doing the driving 😂
I was wanting to know if you could do a step by step video on how to hook up and unhook all of your hay equipment to the hay making tractors and which hydraulic hose and lever does what and the light plugs and wiring harnesses as well and how the hay equipment works and operates and how to operate the hay equipment and how to get the tractors and hay equipment ready for hay season and how to mount and hook up and dismount and unhook the round baler monitor and the power cords and wiring harnesses this summer and so if you could do a dedicated video on how to do all of that stuff step by step I would really really appreciate it?
I live in Southern California, but I am very intrigued by this video. This video was very interesting and I like the use of the drone and a various different cameras and angles used. Very informative
Please feel free to check out my most recent video as i have made a grass cutting compilation all with the use of drones it also features a bit of raking aswell. If you enjoy please feel free to like comment and subscribe
Great video and love the overhead views. Have no clue what I just watched however as I have never been in the country nor outside of the city limits. With that said, this was really informative.
love these tractors dad has a 6910 and a 3140, 3350 they never go wrong. awesome vid mate. Im from the uk and all our grass fields are on a bank which makes hay making very uncomfortable in the cab :)
Since you have a bunch of video technology in play anyway making videos, have you tried putting a camera on the back of the cab facing the implement(s) and a monitor in the front of the cab so you can see how its operating without having to crane your neck around all the time? I have a tiny hay operation so it wouldnt be practical for me, but I get really tired of spending hours looking over my shoulder and have frequently thought about trying to rig up a mirror or something. It would take practice getting the hang of understanding what you were seeing, but I think in the long run it would pay off in comfort and productivity.
Thank you, I learned a lot from this video. I am always fascinated by the large round bales of hays along the highways. How do you put the plastic wrap on them?

Watching the hay process is very relaxing. You make it look easy, which it isn't. Thanks for another educational vlog.

a great one, i loved it
Forget farm sim I want to do it for real. Anyone hiring?

Today is Dec 21 2021, what a difference a couple years makes! That’s farming for you! This last summer was a heck of a drought. . Amazing!
Love the smell of fresh cut hay. As kid my dad did square bales at 50 pounds. So us kids would not hurt our backs
