I love the addition of Maya Hawke in this season. She's a natural for this role.

i don't comment often but i have to say your theorising is not annoying at all in fact it's one of the best things about you as a reactor! you're so clued in and you actually pay attention to the show youre watching it's so refreshing! i've seen so many reactors talk over or completely miss main events and ideas in shows they watch and it feels like they react as a chore rather than something they wanna do but the way you actively pay attention to the show and you remember things and theorise what's gonna happen really does feel like watching along with a friend it's so nice please never stop

Yes. This. I got impatient and temporarily started watching another channel get to season 4 and obsess over Billy in episode 4. it was painful… as one commenter on their page eloquently said: they have the emotional depth of a puddle. Cocoa couch is worth the wait!

You might be the first person I've seen react to this who didn’t immediately disregard Steve's thought about the music. Especially starting last season, there's a tendency to treat Steve as very ditzy, but he's actually really smart in a few specific areas. Despite Robin having a great ear for sounds and being in band, he's the only one who noticed the music, after all. And that the Demodogs wanted live bait last season and ran off not because they were scared of him but because they were being called. As always, super insightful of you :)
S1 played November 1983, S2 around Halloween 1984 (remember they went trickortreating with Max), S3 now plays before 4th of July 1985. It has a fresh new vibe because it's more like a summer blockbuster than an autumnal horror.

Season 3 starts with a flashback to June 1984 & then jumps forward to summer 1985. Steve & Billy have graduated high school. Nancy, Jonathan, & Robin just finished 11th grade. Eleven, Max, & the boys will start high school after summer break...
Season 4 start 5 months after the end of season 3 in March 1986. Nancy, Robin, & Jonathan will be high school seniors & the "kids" are in 9th grade.

Season three is a love letter to the 80s. I was Nancy’s age during this time. The Duffer Brothers got this time period down perfectly. The mall, the clothing, the music, the town pool, the carnival etc.
steve and robin are the greatest duo ever to be on a tv show, shortly followed by steve and dustin. fight me.

What? Mike hasn't done anything, him and Eleven's relationship is having problems from OUTSIDE parties sticking their noses in their business. Hopper and Max are the problem.

Every creator I’ve seen react to ST never puts those two things together which is so odd to me because he’s very recognisable considering he looks like The Terminator which they joke about a lot in the show 😂

Please watch Orphan (2009) if you haven't already, its a thriller/horror and its amazing. Great acting, really heartfelt and sweet scenes, a very memorable intro and so much more. You MUST go into it blind though! :)

THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR i wont spoil anything until he's reached certain episodes i want to talk about, but i really believe this is the best season. Everyone was talking about it, everyone was making aesthetics out of this season and it was such honestly a fun time to be in the fandom. The humor is great, new characters become my new faves, the music and the colours are also just my favorite part of this season. I cannot wait to watch his reaction this season omg
edit: not sure if he noticed this but, Billy's dad kept a lock on the outside of his bedroom, meaning Billy could've been locked away in the house if his dad really wanted to do so. As he also said, we understand why Billy behaves the way he does and why he is a sub-villain, but after three watches myself, and noticing things like this after a friend pointed them out to me, i started to feel for him and get really into caring for Billy more than i did before which honestly wasn't a whole lot
So many moments in season 3 that show the true villain of the story it crazy … he really controlling Billy. The way he acts and moves and talks sounds like the final boss Can’t wait for you to get to season 4

Hated how they treated Will this season, I get it they’re all growing up, and dealing with a lot now but Will just wanted to finally do something normal and be casual with his bros and they wouldn’t even give him that?

Prob the weakest season imo, a bit less plausible, but still some great moments, great villains and a bit more gross horror in this one. Prob the slowest start to a season though.

When this season first premiered, I was a bit too ambitious and decided to binge it in one go. That's when I realized that binging shows actually gives me a literal headache (just from the stress of watching TV for like 8 hours straight), so I'm happy to digest the whole thing slower this time around 😅
When I binge seasons or shows, I just don’t remember 90% of it afterwards, which sucks cuz I’d like to remember what I watched so nowadays I try to not binge any shows lmao
Watching this season, I kept thinking how they really nailed the mall. It was exactly how I remembered it from my childhood. Even the handrails and skylight reminded me of the one I went to as a kid. Then I realized that they filmed this in Georgia, and I looked it up... it was filmed in the old food court of the mall I used to go to! So this is _literally_ the mall I remember from my childhood 😂

Just personally, I feel like Hopper suffered a bit of a character assassination this season, Hopper may have had a bit of a tough exterior, but he was always holding his emotions back. This season just seemed a little bit of a different person altogether that didn’t learn the lessons he did the last two seasons. Somewhat the same with Steve, but it is encouraging that some criticisms the show took for season 3 was adhered in season 4.
God, I hated what they did to Hopper. His character this season is one of the reasons s3 is my least favorite. Him saying "what is heart-to heart?" is so weird when he has a heart-to-heart with Eleven in season 2... he was very closed off in previous seasons, but he wasn't emotionally dumb.
Robin joins the gang! This is my favourite season because of the colours, how much fun people are having, and how cheesy it can become. The plot line with Steve, Dustin and Robin is my favourite, it was just so much fun. Season 4, while not my favourite, is peak cinema though. Like holy moly they amped up everything. Season 3 is my favourite because it was the most whimsical. I knew this would be right up your alley as well. Let us know which season is your favourite!
And no, we love your theories! Talking about the show and putting clues together is what makes you a great reactor. That, and you're just wholesome and got good vibes only. I love how you could sympathize with Karen Wheeler in these two episodes. She and Ted likely don't have any passion left, and that's basically how any kind of cheating starts in reality, but instead of condemning her for her flirtations with Billy, you were super understanding. Love that.

I know you dont really watch this kind of stuff, but it has been a big part of my childhood, an edutainment series by Dave Hood called "Real Wheels". This series has several thirty minute videos based on real world technology and jobs utilizing various vehicles,all with the motif "There goes a...", I believe the first one they released was "There goes a firetruck". It was their proof of concept video, and a very cool watch even grown up. The music in this series is also pretty exceptional! A whole channel was even dedicated to finding a lot of the lost music! Robin is the voice actor for Anxiety in Inside Out 2 since you didn't notice it. I believe Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton (Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers) are still dating which is cool. They started dating back in 2016 or 17. Cary Elwes is also in a really good comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Same director as Spaceballs, the Star Wars parody (Mel Brooks).

Eleven had nothing but misery her whole life, and she finally get joy with Mike and Hopper wants to rip it away all cause he see's her as his replacement daughter. And Max's rants about trashing Mike is just infuriating.

Oscar, I just discovered your channel through your Stranger Things reactions (ST has been one of my favourite shows of all time since it first came out in 2016) and you’ve already kept me company through a few all-nighter study sessions :) I’m super excited to start a new season with you for the first time. Season 4 takes the cake for my favourite, but this one is so rewatchable. I think they try to draw inspiration from a completely different aspect of 80s movies/pop culture each season, and I love the tone & aesthetic they chose this time. Also the introduction of my favourite character, Robin!! I was skeptical about her in the beginning but she’s the best.
I for one love your theorizing! You notice the little details others don’t and I can tell you’re thinking deeply about the characters, mysteries and messages of every show and movie as you watch. That’s why I have so much fun watching along with you. Even for a show like this where I’ve watched it a thousand times and can probably quote every line, you still manage to point out things that I’ve never really thought about. Keep doing what you’re doing!!

This season is the most dividing amongst fans - you either love it or hate it. Im in the first group - the vibe of 80's, the colors, I looove every El's outfits - they are so good. It also gives totally different vibe cause it's happening during summer and not fall like previous seasons. Many people don't like the gore aspect which happens a lot in this season (like those exploding rats) which is totally fair.
Also I just love love looove hearing Hopper say "daughter" talking about El. Like we all know he loves her as if she was his real daughter but hearing him actually call her that, not just El, makes me giggly hahah

Having said that, I love every season, even the "worst" one (which I still thought was great). Season 3 is my second favourite because I think it really brought some freshness to the formula of the first 2 seasons with new characters, a different time of year, the whole change the town is going through with the mall, etc. The season brought a lot of changes, but it kept the important things that make the show work so well. The only reason season 3 isn't my favourite season is because season 4 came out and raised the bar so much higher than I thought it was possible to go.

"how many children are you friends with?" steve's just a single mom who works two jobs, loves her kids and never stops okay
Maya Hawke (Robin) was a great addition and that's the thing about Stranger Things it keeps adding new characters but not superfluously. When they add someone or even introduce you to someone you only see once you never know when they'll be utilized in an important way. It's one of the things I love most about this show.

This isn't my favorite season, but I'm glad you're continuing with this show. That being said, we would've never gotten Robin if it wasn't for this season, so pros and cons, I guess.

yeah, the chemistry between Joyce and Hopper is palpable since the beginning, they have such an amazing relationship where they can rely on each other and everything but Bob was a surprise in season 2 I guess to not make it so predictable... and now I don't think the problem is that she doesn't like him, but that she hasn't yet considered the possibility of having another romantic relationship after what happened with Bob, she's still grieving...
I am so glad we are in season 3 now. I am enjoying all your reactions and comments for Stranger Things so much! This series gets more and more intense and I find myself having to remind myself to breathe . It is so easy to get caught up in the scenes sometimes . I really Love the shopping at the mall with Max& El their bonding is a long time coming but so worth the wait. It gets El another outlet and she has been isolated most of her life for some good reason's but Papa basically treated her like a lab experiment showing praise when she did things that only pleased him and his studies .
The Joyce thing with Hopper is that she really was in love with Bob... Bob was the first decent guy ( reflection on ex husband ) out of high school that showed a real interest in Joyce . In the beginning Hopper was dating around even with the town librarian so he was not looking for something with Joyce at first. I will not say anything else about that right now.
At least with Hopper he is learning to give El some room to become more than an experiment and a little more room to become her own person.... I love that for her.
As for Billy I know he is a grade A jerk but I never wanted anything like what happened to him . He was dealt a bad hand to begin with as a kid and it just didn't get better for him.

What you may not fully realize as an Aussie, is that there are almost no malls in the USA that still look like that anymore. (Nearly every American mall has either been torn down and redeveloped, or is run down and nearly empty of stores.) So that entire mall was an actual massive SET built for season three of the show!
I feel bad for Billy. His only male adult to look up to is his dad. Who probably was abused like he does to Billy. Billy was made into a bad person. Does that excuse what he’s done, no. But it’s so real and happens all the time

Max poisoning Eleven's mind when she won't hold herself to the same standards is the funniest part of this season 😂Lucas is incredibly lucky that teenage girl friendships always have a slightly toxic element to them. Mike truly never grows up though, constantly lying is never a way to win anyone's heart. He is also a bit toxic. The transition into the teens is so well done!
Season three has to be my most rewatched season it's definitely my favourite
