just checked the service manual, it specifically mentioned both the oil plan plugs need to be opened to drain. Im suspecting the bottom of the oil pan might not be a flat one.
@@piterol85 yes correct ..... I did both , I think its the same oil but they probably have a divider "maybe" to make sure the minimum amount is available at any given time while riding .....
So I don't think the Rebel even has a light on the screen , so mine takes exactly 4.5 quarts when measured when the bike is on stands , level and upright.
I have a quick question. I saw that you change the filter for the DCT and you did not have a O-ring or replace any type of O-ring. Does the DCT filter need any type of O-ring at the end before you screw in the cover? Because I recently got an oil change on my bike and it started leaking oil from that area. I would really appreciate a response back. Thank you
So I hope I understand your question , If you watch the video around the 8:50 mark , you can see that when the 2 screws come off , there is only a spring that pushes the filter back onto the engine , the back of the DCT filter has a built in oil seal as seen on the video ....... Where the cover attaches , there is no gasket or seal , however as I stated , that cover as well as the housing the cover fits into is delicate and soft metal so if someone used a screwdriver to get the DCT filter out and damaged that area it would most certainly leak oil .... But if that is not the case and everything is unharmed , there should not be any oil leaking.
Hi I recently purchased all the parts I need to do the first service on my 2024 Honda Rebel CMX1100.. the Honda dealer sold me: 1) Oil Filter 2) DCT Filter 3) 2 x sealing washers for the oil drain plug and the dct oil drain plugs 4) A rubber o ring (that I assume goes onto the cap for the DCT Filter. So I assume yes there is a rubber seal on the DCT cover but mine is a 2024 model you mentioned yours was 2021?? So maybe this was added on the newer models??
Btw nice video I have never done an oil change on a DCT so I was totally unsure how it's done.. thanks for the help.. Now I just have to wait for the bike to arrive.. get 600 miles on it then I can do the first service.. lol I like planning ahead I am not even getting the bike delivered for another week and half. 😂
@@KJsSchoolOFMotoring very interesting , mine doesn't have that so obviously this was introduced in the later years as a design change. good luck sir !
@@KJsSchoolOFMotoring you will love it , they are great bikes ......I am selling this one in case you know anyone who wants a really clean well taken care of Rebel 1100 DCT ....... and my price is dirt cheap.
@@HomeTech_Pro I think it's pretty clever. I was expecting to need to fill two different reservoirs, but this is much more simple than I initially thought. Good video!
If you think about how a normal clutch works.. that is sharing the same oil as the engine (unless its a Ducati dry clutch) so this just has both of the clutches using the engine oil. From my understanding DCT stands for Dual Clutch Transmission.. 1 clutch controls 1st, 3rd and 5th and the other controls 2nd, 4th and 6th gears.. the ECU then controls which clutch engages and then predicts and pre selects the next gear. Seems like a very clever system. I cant wait for our new bike to arrive so we can start to offer Category A automatic training for our students.
Please tell me why that makes a difference ? What exactly would that information do for you ? I mean you are using 1 oil for both engine and transmission , You will drain both plugs and then replace filters and fill one hole ....... ???? So what does me telling you which drain plug is for engine and which one is for DCT help ?
I know where the dip stick is, i wish you would have pointed it out though in the end. Great video, i will definitely save it.
Noted , thank you sir !
Looks good one thing you might consider. Before you put the covers back on that cover the access to the dct filter, test for leaks.
Great point!
Nicely done! I can follow those instructions very easily! Thank you for making it so simple and easy!
man thank you so much for that great feedback , I really do appreciate it !
Thanks for the tutorial! Very well done.
Thank you appreciate that !
awesome tutorial, will be doing mine 600 mile soon🎉

Do we have to do the oil reset on the screen how do I know how much oil to put in.
Thanks

I have always wiped the oil filter seating faces. And wiped out the cavities.
I am kinda scared to do that since most times your rag or cloth leaves residue and lint , and that would be disastrous if it got into the engine.
My European owner's manual recommends 10W30 oil. Is it different for you?
yes , 10W-40
nice job!
Thank you appreciate that !
So there is no separate fillers for the the motor and the DCT, both just one filler and they mix together???
Fill spouts, not filters, both motor and DCT use the same filler spout?@@HomeTech_Pro
Correct sir , sorry for the misunderstanding , They are indeed same or 1 that is shared. @@TomWhelan-u1k

Hey buddy , that means a lot to me , Thank you and keep watching the other videos ......
Out of curiosity, is this identical to the Africa Twin DCT?
Sorry , I don't know the answer to that.
Yes, the Rebel 1100 DCT inherited the Twin Parallel engine from the Africa Twin
how many quarts do you put in? Thank you! I found out it's 4.4 quarts.
exactly 4 & a 1/2 quarts.
It’s odd that the dct and the engine uses the same oil.
Not sure why .... But its good, you only need 1 type.
