I have spent months researching into teaching yourself to talk French quickly and discovered an awesome website at Magic Language Method (check it out on google)
Don't be scared to speak, the native speakers will be happy you are trying! And depending on the language they are very grateful you try to learn their language.
S7veN Whoever you talk to must be assholes, the majority of people I know don’t worry about people with accents. I know your struggle though, my spanish still sounds sort of American
I never had anyone to speak with. Even if I know the correct pronunciation, my mouth fails to form the word bc I never actually said it out loud. That's pretty sad
MAjaLeahHB their are language apps you can put on your phone and talk to people all over the world that help you as long as you help them with a language you know fluent that they want to learn... you can message them or call them veery helpful
MAjaLeahHB tandem is the phone app and another is conversation exchange . Com < that's a website but you can use on computer or regular internet on phone
i took jimin's jams same, I just recently thought about learning Korean even though I've been listening to kpop and watching k-dramas for a while. I'm really excited about learning it :)
i took jimin's jams I recommend watching dramas... they speak very clearly in a slow, steady pace so people can understand. Watch with subtitles of your language and when you are confident enough, start to watch variety shows :)
i took jimin's jams same here, i started learning simply because of kpop but when i started actually learning at christmas, i looked more into korean culture and everything, its a beautiful language :)
Kim Thompson Try language Transfer, you'll be speaking. You can follow the tracks though Sound Cloud. Its free. They have 47 Swahili tape. its based in three Michel Thomas method. You'll be speaking immediately. Couple that with the Duolingual app. Also free.
Good advice! I learned Portuguese and now I'm starting on Swahili. I'm enjoying myself! The Biggest Roadblock to Learning a Language: GIVING UP! It does take LOTS OF TIME.
I feel like a loser only knowing English. Especially since I took six years of Japanese in school but I've forgotten basically all of it....what a waste
Chiann Gates Watch anime ! I don't really want to learn japanese, but with anime and some grammar and stuff you can have the basic level ! I can understand plenty of japanese words and never learn it on my own !
I would also suggest Japanese game shows they are so funny, even with no subtitles they still make me laugh, though you can find subtitled stuff. :) podcasts can also be fun
yeah watching anime and dramas will help a lot if you wanna learn japanese that's what i'm doing atm. i've never been into asian culture but after watching anime i got into it then starting to listen to kpop.
Trying to learn Korean! I started off with Japanese because of my Japanese friend opening me up to all the food and culture, I can hold a conversation but I've realized I'd like to visit Korea, the fashion is probably what draws me in most lol
True! Every single word of you. Especcially about forgetting about fear to speak and just have this practice! Spometimes you can find online some natives and just exchange your skiils in languages! Now I´m learning spanish by myself and every day trying to "cover" my life with spanish speech - listening to the music (read lyrics! sing!), watching videos, speaking - even with my cat - if I have noone to chat with... just to help my brain to get used to the sounds, my tongue to get used to new moves) everything is possible! I BELIEVE)
I’m half Puerto Rican and took Spanish classes in high school, my mom has made me listen to Spanish music all my life and I still can’t speak Spanish. I want that to change, I want to be more fearless, but my family has been kind of abusive about me not learning Spanish all my life. I’m not sure what to do to become more fearless, but now that I’m away for my family I want to try! Thanks for the video
You’re dead right! And I do agree with the tips you’re sharing in the video. I’m from Bulgaria therefore my native language is Bulgarian. I’m really fond of learning languages, discovering new cultures, communicating with many people, etc. Because of my love for languages, I decided to apply for a language school where I chose to attend to English and French classes. Then I got obsessed with Mexico and its culture so I made up my mind about taking up learning Spanish on my own. It was tough in the beginning but I found loads of new friends who helped me develop my knowledge and vocabulary. Then the fear of speaking came. I thought my accent was appalling and I was pretty ashamed of it. Then I met a girl from Spain who was a volunteer in Bulgaria for a short period of time and organised some classes on speaking only in Spanish. When I shared her my problem, she assured me my accent was excellent, the grammar and vocabulary were correct and there was no reason to be concerned. Actually this was the moment I did believe in myself and overcame my fear of talking to people in a foreign language. Months later, when I went to Spain for a week, I was speaking only in Spanish and I was our family translator 😂. I was able to feel the magic of speaking fluently, with no obstacles. Natives were amazed and it was a pleasure to have such a conversation. Once again, your advices are incredible and there’s no doubt the belief is the first and most important step. 👏🏼
Yep, just started! I only know some numbers, pronouns, and a couple of other words. Very early in learning, but I've always been fascinated by ASL, so I figured maybe RUclips could get me started!
This was so encouraging. Thank you! I have been trying to learn French but keep stopping and starting. I am moving to Senegal in a few weeks so I need just give it ago. I would also like to learn Yoruba. I can't wait for the series :D
Thank you very much for your advice! This really helped me view language learning differently. I think sometimes we get so caught up in our fears that we hinder ourselves from succeeding in what we're trying to accomplish. That's definitely something I did. So thanks again for your helpful words:) And I just wanna say that you are a very beautiful woman. Have a great day!
Dral Sny After mistreating, enslaving, and killing some people for decades it will be tough to gain their trust back because they might forgive you but they will never forget what you did to them. Thats why the joke might have another approach for any other ethnicity.
You speak about it as if this generation were the ones who did all of those horrible things, and as if black people now were once slaves. What our ancestors have done and who they were don't define us now. We define ourselves. Obviously, what happened was a tragedy, but it shouldn't reflect on white people today, just as much as Isis shouldn't impact the view of normal, peaceful Muslims.
Unfortunately Americans are naturally too tribal and too ignorant to understand this concept. People are always going to want to find a way to divide themselves. Asking for any kind of reasoning or intelligence in 2017 is too much.
Gracias por compartir. Estoy aprendiendo español y creo que es muy interesante para aprender otras idiomas y especialmente ver gente joven hablando muchas idiomas.
Tengo quince años y quiero hablar muchas idiomas. No he hablado nada exepto Inglés :( El año que viene yo voy a aprender chino en escuela. Lo siento para mis errores!
I love what you said about not being afraid! If we think of how children learn to speak. They are so motivated and they soak in every detail of communication and they are not afraid to try. They just repeat what they know until someone corrects them here and there.
What you say about motivation is TRUE! I believe the secret to learn a language is LOVE. When you love a people you will have a great desire to understand and communicate with them. I speak Chinese and I know I became fluent because I LOVE the Taiwanese people. That's really #1
"Motivation" I'm from Brazil and study English alone, and the video that motivated me to continue learning was "How I Learn 8 Languages". Aquele video é incrível, pretendo aprender Francês!!!
AMAZING TIPS YOU ARE A WISE WOMAN!!! Estos tips son lo mejor que uno puede pedir o escuchar! Esta es la raíz para aprender cualquier idioma muchas gracias por compartirlo con nosotros, you’re such an inspiration for me! “They believe in themselves” that’s so true!
Im a brazilian guy and i am struggle to learn English. The mainly problem is motivation, because sometimes i just stop to believe. It seems like i am not able to speak fluent even studying a lot. Currently i have been learned more ways to improve my listening. Anyway your videos are helping me about my confidence. Tks a lot dear!!
Saulo Pedrosa Go on italky.com. You can hire people to speak to you in the language you want to learn. I’ve been wanting to start tutoring there to teach people English. I’m working on my Dutch.
Lola Bint I'm learning Syrian dialect. I've been getting a lot of help from conversation apps. Conversation exchange dot com and the phone app tandem. Their are a bunch of Egyptians that will help you learn but they want help with English or another language if you know one.
Lola Bint I love it I've meet some really nice people from all over Saudi Arabia,Egypt,London,Syria,Lebanon. Even people just here in the states that are on work visas and want to learn English so they can get a promotion. And they really enjoy helping with Arabic. The Tandem app is nice because it lets you make calls from the app and you don't have to give out your whatsapp number and after every call the person writes a review about you and how helpful you were. I've learned a lot with CE and Tandem and have only had them for about two weeks 😊
Just got back from living in Brazil for 4/5 months. I wish I knew all of this prior! Speaking and not being afraid to speak a new language is so important for our learning process. Knowing this and your other helpful tips I can continue to learn Portuguese while relearning my native tongue, Amharic. You are very inspiring. Thank you!
I wanted to learn Japanese because I'm really interested in the culture, people etc. (and I love anime lol) and I even got textbooks and grammarbooks but I gave up because learning to read/remember the Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji was so hard ._. Now I finally got some motivation to start over again, thank you!
Do it, I'm learning Japanese too💓💓💓✌🏾I'm a big anime fan too, but I love the culture and everything else too. Otaku for life. Now I'm about to start school because I've always wanted to be a surgeon. I'd love to practice in Japan.
I am so inspired by your videos! I have heard of 'polyglots' such as yourself, but I have never seen them in action, let alone a woman of color seamlessly transition between languages.
impressive, I understood you when you spoke English, e mais impressionado com teu português, eres um show em castellano, lo hablas img bien; also, I understood italian a bit which I studied for 5 years, French am just getting started, and your other languages which I can't judge because I don't understand it motivates me to continue learning other languages, and a reason to subscribe to your channel...felicidades....
She is simply amazing! My first lenguage is spanish and I already learned english by myself, now I want to learn german and korean and this is what I needed to motivate myself and go for it... you are such an inspiration.
Thank you so much for this video!!! One of my dreams is be a polygote and see someone like you who really is one giving all those tips makes me believe in myself and makes me want to work really hard to get it. Thank you so much!!!
I want to learn Chinese Mandarin! It seems like uncharted water where I'm from! I wanna explore that water!! Great message about not being afraid!! My motivation is that I LOVE to connect with people and build community. My family and I have dabbled in Spanish and would practice at Mexican restaurants. I asked myself "why haven't I ever learned any Chinese Mandarin??" because we would go to Chinese restaurants a lot too! My friends have always told me I have courage to always put myself out there. I'm excited for this new journey
I have struggled learning Spanish at school because I’ve never really been motivated to learn the culture of the language. I started learning Hebrew at home because I’m very interested in Israeli and middle eastern culture. I’ve emerged myself completely and I absolutely love it!!!! I’ve learning the alphabet pronunciation and now I am learning the writing and grammar and learning how to form words. It is a bit of a challenge sometimes because it’s very different form English and I’m 13. 😂 but I’ve noticed it’s much easier for me to learn than Spanish because I’m actually interested. Thank you for this video!! 💞💞💞💞
This video is the basic... (basic, basic, basic)... to learn any new skills.Another basic i can though of is 'persistence'.Thank you for this video. You are a good motivator. The way you speak shows your modestly. I have seen other motivation videos, where they sometimes speak with pride.Really love your humble attitude. (Y)Love from Bangladesh.
Thank you so much for this video. I started watching it just to get some tips because I'm thinking about starting to learn a language, but I came away with so much more. I think so many people should watch this video, even if they don't want to learn a language, but if they want to do anything in life. Your three tips; motivation, believe, and don't be afraid, can be applied to doing and learning anything, can be applied to achieving any goal. I just wanted to say thank you so much for this. xx
Hi. I'm really impressed that you are able to speak 8 languages! I'm learning German now at Goethe but I'm having hard time with the grammar and sentence sequences or the use of akk/dat/nom. I hope I can learn something from you like how to remember.
I totally agree on the fear factor. In my experience working as an ESL teacher some students were stuck because of fear. They just weren't able to achieve progress because of that one obstacle they just couldn't overcome. It's like a hickup. I just want to ad though that you have a quality that I think is distinctive of smart people, confidence. It's magnetic, and you got it! Love your videos.
It's my goal to learn many languages!! I'm not sure yet how.. Uni, self study or like a language course.. So expensive tho but i hope i'm able to do it. I didn't have the chance to learn it in high school unfortunately:( I'm almost 18 and i only speak 2 languages but i really want to learn many more. Languages are so interesting and beautiful. Thank you for your video's!! they give me motivation :)
Girl, I am so impressed and so happy that there's a women on youtube with a Vlog about learning languages. My first language is Spanish and of course I now know in english. I was so impressed with your Spanish like wow it sounded completely fluent so amazing! You go girl! keep inspiring others to learn as much as they can. much love.
You are absolutely right on all 3 points, Eve. I am trying (at 68) to learn both Spanish and Latin dance, after falling in love with Cuba (and a Cuban woman, of course). I visited Cuba 5 times this year. So the motivation part is totally there, But I catch myself saying how difficult they both are, and also being afraid to ask women to dance even tho i've learned lots of moves at this point. And also speaking english when at a mexican restaurant because.....i'm afraid....Exactly as you say...gotta just do it! Another great video!!
My first language is Spanish, my second one is English I'm not too good cause I don't practice it as I would want. And I just discovered your channel and I'm so motivated to keep on learning and practicing! Thanks ❤️
GIRL you stole my heart when you said you started to learn portuguese. I'm brazilian, and i'm really interested in italian, german, russian and i'm thinking if I really want to speak Spanish. You're incredible and really beautifull!!!
people get movitavted by watching shows or movies from a different conutry and I honestly kinda learned Turkish by watching Turkish drama or movies for years just by hearing their language and reading the English sub titles ALOT, and then later on in the years, I got used to the words they were saying and knowing what they meant, I didn't even have to look down on the English sub title.
These tips are solid. I'm learning Spanish and I never hesitate to talk the little Spanish that I know to native speakers and it helps me a lot. I believe the biggest reason why most people are afraid to speak to the native speakers is because of feeling embarrassed. People get stuck in their comfort zones and wouldn't risk getting embarrassed by mispronouncing words, not knowing how to put the correct sentences together, etc. You'll never learn the language if you're afraid to speak with the native speakers.
This really inspired me! I'm currently taking Afrikaans (South Africa) at school and i'm really struggling. I always thought "Oh, I'll never need it my school is english and doesn't have such high standards". That was before I moved and now attend a bilingual (2/3 Afrikaans 1/3 English) school. Still struggling but I've gone from like 40% to 60% in Afrikaans. I'm thinking about trying Dutch because Afrikaans is based off of it.
yikesgtg hey! I want to learn Afrikaans. I can understand it pretty well as my parents have spoken it around me my whole life but I'm terrible at speaking it. Do you have any tips for this specific language?
I'd recommend finding an Afrikaans series or program on a topic that interests you (there are a few good ones, but unfortunately, too many low quality) - if your parents speak it, you should know the culture, and that's the most important part to understand the "reasons" for certain sayings. Etc. The grammar is really simple, so you should pick it up easily. Apparently it is the easiest language in the world for an English person to learn, so good luck! (PS. Ek is Afrikaans)
I agree with you completely. (I only speak 3 languages so far, plus my native one.) Motivation = love. Believe = overconfidence. No fear = self-control.
Lilmama jaiteh i think it is yea. if you dont want to get confused and get a cross over you could learn languages that are not like the other language. for example spanish and polish. or sweedish and French. or chinese and spanish. whatever you want cus theyre not similar in any way so it helps. however, if you learnt two languages that are very similar like spanish and italian, or spanish and portugues then maybe it will help because theyre so similar so its kinda like expanding your vocabulary from both directions. if you want to learn a language for free theres duolingo.com. they also have an app too. completely free and they have loads of languages to chose from, and you can learn as many as you want at one time
its def possible to learn more than one - probably as long as they're not really similar. like learning spanish and portuguese might be a struggle but im learning spanish and korean at the same time right now and they're VERY different and not easy to mix up
Mandarin is my mother tongue but English is my dominant language (ive been living in England for 9 years) i really want to be fluent in french and I'm wondering if I could just move there I would pick it up like I did with English. I'm 13 and everyone says children pick up a new language best
HAha yeah im 13 and i know 9 languages so yeah it is true children do pick it up easily and french is beautiful learn it its so i dont know how to say it like sounds like music to my ears
It's a really difficult language, infinite grammar rules (and exceptions), hardcore conjugation, hardcore spelling even for native speakers. I know what I am talking about, I am French haha. It will definitly be easier if you live in France, no doubt. Little trick: some people like to learn a language by listening to native speakers, I chose to listen to let's players because it is easy and entertaining. French let's players that you can follow on youtube: Squeezie , Amixem, Cyril/SUPERKONAR, Wankil Studio, Joueur du grenier, Bazar du grenier
I have all the grammar structures and a lot of vocab collected over my four years of learning Spanish. I'm jus too afraid of using it, I'm so thankful for this video and I think I finally realized I need to let go of the fear of making mistakes and not being understood because that's how people learn right? From mistakes :) excited to watch more of your videos and continue my journey to becoming more fluent in Spanish and learning Japanese
Tu m'inspires!
I agree with speaking, it was massive progress for my russian. BUT, there should be mention you have understand the language as well , because speak to someone and don't understand her/him is in most cases useless.
I'm trying to learn Russian at the moment. Do you have any tips for me? I'm new to Russian, and I'm watching videos and trying to read texts, even though I don't understand it. What sites, apps, text etc did you use? And what method to learning Russian did you find most useful?
My mother language is Czech (also slavic) so I had it little bit easier, than you, I guess. Along with learning russian, I experimented a lot with methods how to learn. I can share more. If you want, write me via lang.tomasb.eu/contact/ I think I saw you on FB :)
I agree with you when it comes to fear of speaking because I went through the same thing when I was learning English. I would get be afraid of speaking out because I didn't want people to judge because of my accent. But with time I gained confidence and let go of the fear and I actually started talking to more native english speakers and I can say i feel more comfortable now. Getting familiar with the culture and talking to native was definitely what helped me improved my English.
For anyone out there, I was wondering if you had more time to learn a language as a working adult or college student? Currently a college student, but I find it hard to find time to focus on academics and clubs while learning another language :(
I have more time now as a working adult. I took a Japanese course while I was studying at university and found it hard to focus on my degree plus the language course. I did the whole year of Japanese (every Wednesday night) but I didn't get to sit the final exam because it clashed with my deadlines and assignments for my actual degree, so in the end I didn't get a certificate for it :(
Learn the basics of the grammar with duolingo. Listen music in your target languaje when you are doing meanless task such as walking, in the bus. Watch movies in the target languaje, or watch youtube, there are many famous youtubers with english sub. If you are interesting in something such as tutorials to learn something you can find it in youtube, just use google translate to know how to search t in youtube. Use wikipedia in that languaje you want to learn. And play with ba ba dum to learn more vocabulary. I hope this help you to start learning that languaje!
Okay just discovered you but I already love you. I'm from Burkina Faso and love learning languages. (I speak Spanish, French English and now I want to try Portuguese) thank you so much. You motivated me to do it
I learned English through tv series with eng subs. But I can't fined tv shows in german , spanish and french with subtitles in the internet. May be someone here know where i can fined some.
That was a lovely video. Thank you! It was important for me to hear that. I've always been afraid of making mistakes and you're right. Making mistakes is the end of the world. It is actually what allows you to open new doors and go beyond your comfort zone.
Ummm I have a tip but it's mostly for like characters, like the characters u should see an image example: 人 means person and the character looks like a person. But u also have to pay attention to strokes as well like 妈 and 吗 , since they have different prefixes they obviously have different meanings.... idk if this helped u
Yes! proud African sister from another mother I am from Africa ( Angola ) I also speak different languages. But I want to learn more. Yo vivo en Dallas Texas. I came from Angola to Texas knowing nothing but Portuguese. girl believe I am so proud of myself how many languages I learned living in USA. People think I am super smart but for me it was just self motivation. Can we be friends? I feel like I found someone almost like me. Like we say in Portuguese OBRIGADA querida !
I am fluent in English and French, as I go a bilingual school- I'm beginning to learn Spanish and Korean, as my mom is from Seoul and my best friend is Hispanic. I'm starting Mandarin next year at school, so I'm super excited about that too. (Also, I'm only 11 lmao so I don't have tons of time to study 😂) So by the time I'm in college I would love to speak 5 languages... Any language recommendations?
The Nerdy Narwhal that's amazing! I'm turning thirteen and I'm fluent in Arabic and English, but now I'm teaching myself ASL and French. Good luck learning Spanish and Korean :)
I'm going to take Spanish in school next year and I'm teaching myself ASL. I know a lot of words but right now my signing is like a mixture of PSE and SEE.
The Nerdy Narwhal Try Hungarian, Serbian (btw if you learn serbian, and you can speak at least bit smoothly, you will understand like 50% Russian, trust me, I know English, Hungarian, Serbian, German, and currently learning Korean, also my friend knows a bit Turkish so I hear from her some Turkish words, lol, good luck at laungages, laungage learning is beautiful)....... 😂😊💓
I'm learning Spanish and I have a couple of fluent friends but like every time i try and speak to them I freeze up and get awkward an forget what to say, like I have no problem talking to my teacher or relatives in Spanish I just can't do it with my friends and it annoys me a lot
I am learning some Chinese just by learning song's, and though I am just beginning, I am so fascinated with everything Chinese, especially Beijing opera. I love your videos, they are very encouraging and helpful.
I am fluent in English and Hindi, and i know some Spanish but am still not completely fluent! I am now starting French by myself and I am 13, but I believe I can do it!
fun dip is there another disgusting thing you would like to say? Damn I just was offering my completly uninterested help. Of course I'm not available for people like you. You're the reason this world is going to hell. You better grow up.
Have a great day girl!;D
I only speak 1 language. But interested & motivated to help my 2 year old son learn French, Chinese Mandarin & Spanish. We started 2 months ago with French and he knows french greetings and how to count to 20. I learn too ;) Merci Beaucoup. Au revoir. X
Thank you so much for this video, I just wanted to tell you that you're such an insperation for me, I was born in South Africa and grew up in America but had to move to Germany because of my Fathers work (Grüße an meine Deutschen da draußen) and I had lots of trouble growing up here but I managed anyways. But the sad thing is, is that since the third grade I wanted to learn French but never got to because I didn't get into French I got into Spanish but I thought to myself that it won't turn out that bad because my teachers told me that if you learned Spanish you can learn French easily. So right now i'm just watching your videos and thinking to myself that one day I will speak fluent french and your videos help me for some reason so thank you for that❤
Sorry for commenting every video you posted about languages but you made me got so excited about it. Your tips were everything I had to hear to go out of this laziness vibe I was in. Thank you, love from Brazil ❤️.
You are SUCH a bad-ass, Eve! I am also a polyglot; I am fluent in four languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese). I am really struggling with my newest language, Arabic. You helped me understand why. I haven't made any effort to understand the culture. In my case, Syrian (learning Syrian [Eastern] Arabic). I am going to engage with the culture...learn about the people, including current political/war conflicts.
Thank you for this video! I have been learning Spanish by teaching myself for awhile now, but I am wayyy too afraid to even attempt to speak it with native speakers because whenever I do, I get something wrong and it's so embarrassing - I feel so judged! Sometimes I want to quit. Hearing your perspective is really valuable and next time I get the opportunity I will practice again without fear. Thank you! :)
you are so inspirational omg i'm currently fluent in two languages and learning 3 more, one by teaching myself, and your videos have really motivated me to continue on! thank you so much for all of these tips :]
These tips make 100% sense. I have been learning Polish for 8 years because that's what my parents speak. I went to school since kindergarten and I have to say that all that time was thrown away. I throughout time have given up, even if my parents plead me to try, because it's been too long. It's just too painful to speak by myself or to others. I am too afraid to make a mistake because of some people that I surround myself with. Some people don't care, but if you don't know, polish people are the most judgmental. I wish I can improve because it's affected my entire life and has brought so much pain. So ya, learn it, cause it will always be worth it.
Excited for this series! I can speak very very limited German from what I learnt at school but some things have stuck and sometimes I can understand basic things from peoples conversations. This language sticks for me but I see what you're saying about interest in culture. So I'm going to learn something else!
🇨🇺Our first Spanish retreat in Cuba is done and was a success! Join us in Cuba this October. All details for round two in CUBA! ➡️ theurbaneve.com/cuba-spanish-retreat/ 🇨🇺
TheUrbanEve Your adorable. And very correct about Motivation being first
About the trip to cuba??? How did you travel in the lockdown
I have spent months researching into teaching yourself to talk French quickly and discovered an awesome website at Magic Language Method (check it out on google)
Don't be scared to speak, the native speakers will be happy you are trying! And depending on the language they are very grateful you try to learn their language.
This is true, and they are usually very happy to help
Not true in my case , Im really scared of speaking English since pretty much every time I try to speak it I get mocked and they make fun of me :/
What if they laugh at you
S7veN Whoever you talk to must be assholes, the majority of people I know don’t worry about people with accents. I know your struggle though, my spanish still sounds sort of American
Gravity™ same here my spanish sounds more American
I never had anyone to speak with. Even if I know the correct pronunciation, my mouth fails to form the word bc I never actually said it out loud. That's pretty sad
MAjaLeahHB try listening to music and sing along
MAjaLeahHB their are language apps you can put on your phone and talk to people all over the world that help you as long as you help them with a language you know fluent that they want to learn... you can message them or call them veery helpful
I completely fooking understand this sadness
ladydede88 What's the app?
MAjaLeahHB tandem is the phone app and another is conversation exchange . Com < that's a website but you can use on computer or regular internet on phone
I guess at first I started learning Korean because of kpop, but now I learn it for myself because I find it extremely rewarding and fun 😊
i took jimin's jams i'm looking to try and learn korean, do you have any tips?
i took jimin's jams same, I just recently thought about learning Korean even though I've been listening to kpop and watching k-dramas for a while.
SAMEE :D Plus I think the language is very nice.
Don't forget to turn on notifications for more language learning tips! xx
I'm starting a german lesson series! First video will be uploaded later today :)
TheUrbanEve I really wanna learn how to speak Swahili. I just can't seem to stay commited to studying it
Kim Thompson Try language Transfer, you'll be speaking. You can follow the tracks though Sound Cloud. Its free. They have 47 Swahili tape. its based in three Michel Thomas method. You'll be speaking immediately. Couple that with the Duolingual app. Also free.
Het zou leuk zijn als je Nederlands gaat leren 🙂.
>It should be nice if you are going to learn Dutch 🙂.

Suelynn B
I feel your pain 😭
I tried learning Japanese also but I barely even know the basics
Chiann Gates Watch anime ! I don't really want to learn japanese, but with anime and some grammar and stuff you can have the basic level ! I can understand plenty of japanese words and never learn it on my own !
I would also suggest Japanese game shows they are so funny, even with no subtitles they still make me laugh, though you can find subtitled stuff. :) podcasts can also be fun
yeah watching anime and dramas will help a lot if you wanna learn japanese that's what i'm doing atm. i've never been into asian culture but after watching anime i got into it then starting to listen to kpop.
so basically if you really enjoy something but it's another language it will motivate you even more
my first language is French❤ English was my second now I want to learn Korean
CindyN Cole moi aussi hahah mais c'est à cause des k-dramas et du k-pop lol
화이팅!~ ^^
Black Swan I'm learning French at the moment and when I understood your comment I got so freaking happy hahahahahah // I AM LEARNING KOREAN TOO
CindyN Cole awesome! My first language is English and at the same time I learned to speak Arabic, but now I'm learning French and ASL :)
Black Swan lool je vois
Trying to learn Korean! I started off with Japanese because of my Japanese friend opening me up to all the food and culture, I can hold a conversation but I've realized I'd like to visit Korea, the fashion is probably what draws me in most lol
Japanese is really hard for me 😥😥😥
How’s it going now
You’re dead right!
I totally agree with you. We must work hard if we want to learn any language
@@deutschmitpurple2918I want to speak and practice English and Spanish. Can you help me?
IM SELF-TEACHING MYSELF SIGN LANGUAGE LOL! ANYONE ELSE?!
Carol ASL I know the alphabet and some words but I'm trying to learn more! Good luck in your journey ❤️
yess i'm pretty much fluent in sign-language!
Yep, just started! I only know some numbers, pronouns, and a couple of other words. Very early in learning, but I've always been fascinated by ASL, so I figured maybe RUclips could get me started!
I have been trying to learn for a while now, I know a lot but could always know more!

This was so encouraging. Thank you! I have been trying to learn French but keep stopping and starting. I am moving to Senegal in a few weeks so I need just give it ago. I would also like to learn Yoruba.

I’d love to learn Yoruba, Swahili, and Xulu! Too bad no one here in Indiana, USA speaks any African languages 😭
moi aussi ! j'apprends francaise encore (for like the fifty millionth time ,, but this time is the time I'm going to make it to fluency!)
That's that black girl magic
E. H. Bristol we got that natural talent
What if a white person said that? You'd be mad lol
I"m a language professor and I really enjoy your tips and your knowledge. You're awesome!
True, she is perfect
Gracias por compartir. Estoy aprendiendo español y creo que es muy interesante para aprender otras idiomas y especialmente ver gente joven hablando muchas idiomas.
De nada, me alegro que el video te pueda ayudar en aprender más!
Tengo quince años y quiero hablar muchas idiomas. No he hablado nada exepto Inglés :( El año que viene yo voy a aprender chino en escuela. Lo siento para mis errores!
addiewantstosleep but you know a second language! Keep heart you will learn another one soon. xoxo

I love what you said about not being afraid! If we think of how children learn to speak. They are so motivated and they soak in every detail of communication and they are not afraid to try. They just repeat what they know until someone corrects them here and there.
your voice is so soothing:)
What you say about motivation is TRUE! I believe the secret to learn a language is LOVE. When you love a people you will have a great desire to understand and communicate with them. I speak Chinese and I know I became fluent because I LOVE the Taiwanese people. That's really #1
"Motivation"
I'm from Brazil and study English alone, and the video that motivated me to continue learning was "How I Learn 8 Languages".
Você falou bem. :)
Saulo Pedrosa Go on italky.com. You can hire people to speak to you in the language you want to learn. I’ve been wanting to start tutoring there to teach people English. I’m working on my Dutch.
Saulo Pedrosa you write it very well!!! 💜
It takes time and hard work. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, just learn from them, mistakes are natural, they are a part of the learning process.
I love how you say "Let go of fear" . Your break down was excellent
The best way to learn I think its live around people who only speak the language or devote at least 1 hour everyday and to do it constantly.
My daughter goes to an at home daycare and the woman is from Venezuela. She teaches me Spanish words and I love it! :)
I'm Learning Arabic.. it's hard and you're right.. fear of speaking it out loud/to others and makes me nervous
ladydede88 ahhh what dialect? I'm trying to learn as well. Egyptian for now :)
Lola Bint I'm learning Syrian dialect. I've been getting a lot of help from conversation apps. Conversation exchange dot com and the phone app tandem. Their are a bunch of Egyptians that will help you learn but they want help with English or another language if you know one.
ladydede88 Ah, okay! yeah, I'm so nervous to do that tho hahaha. but I'll attempt it.
I've learned a lot with CE and Tandem and have only had them for about two weeks 😊
ladydede88 that's great omf! I'll be sure to check them out!
Look up JALUP (Japanese level up) website.
Muito obrigada, muchísimas gracias!
She's brilliant and beautiful.
What a deadly combination
I want to learn Chinese Mandarin! It seems like uncharted water where I'm from! I wanna explore that water!! Great message about not being afraid!! My motivation is that I LOVE to connect with people and build community. My family and I have dabbled in Spanish and would practice at Mexican restaurants. I asked myself "why haven't I ever learned any Chinese Mandarin??" because we would go to Chinese restaurants a lot too! My friends have always told me I have courage to always put myself out there. I'm excited for this new journey
You are a master. My new motivation is you!!! ❤
Come to my house! I live in Sao Paulo but Im from Sergipe (super close to Bahia). You are such an inspiration!!! We could visit it all! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Go to fluent-forever.com, and thank me later.
same!!!! I'm fluent in German and English, but my French sucks and I wanna learn Italian bc my host sister is from that country ...

Girl, I am so impressed and so happy that there's a women on youtube with a Vlog about learning languages. My first language is Spanish and of course I now know in english. I was so impressed with your Spanish like wow it sounded completely fluent so amazing! You go girl! keep inspiring others to learn as much as they can.
much love.
Summary:
1. Stay motivated.
2. Believe that you can learn it.
3. Don't be afraid to speak it.
Eve, I'm brazilian and I know English and Spanish and I want to learn sooo much more and you're such an inspiration! Tks for motivating me❤
Learning languages is cool and all, but this is great advice for life in general. Preach! 🙏🙌
Jim Parfitt Thank you! And yes, just go for it!
You're incredible and really beautifull!!!
people get movitavted by watching shows or movies from a different conutry and I honestly kinda learned Turkish by watching Turkish drama or movies for years just by hearing their language and reading the English sub titles ALOT, and then later on in the years, I got used to the words they were saying and knowing what they meant, I didn't even have to look down on the English sub title.
im Turkish! thats great, wow us turks are known for drama movies lol XD
I'm trying to learn ASL and Spanish
Lizzy Anne I'm learning french in school and I'm teaching myself ASL

Queen Elizabeth como te esta gustando el español?

I can't wait to share this with my students! I'm a teacher of German, but I love learning languages, too. These things are so true!!!
I also know 3 words in isiXhosa from a few of my african friends although I struggle with the clicking sounds 😨
yikesgtg hey!
How do you know when you can move on the the next language? And is it possible to learn two languages at the same time ?
Lilmama jaiteh i think it is yea. if you dont want to get confused and get a cross over you could learn languages that are not like the other language. for example spanish and polish. or sweedish and French. or chinese and spanish. whatever you want cus theyre not similar in any way so it helps. however, if you learnt two languages that are very similar like spanish and italian, or spanish and portugues then maybe it will help because theyre so similar so its kinda like expanding your vocabulary from both directions. if you want to learn a language for free theres duolingo.com. they also have an app too. completely free and they have loads of languages to chose from, and you can learn as many as you want at one time
Emily Booth thank you so much , I agree
get to b2 level in the language first, then move on.
I think when you can comfortably express yourself and have a conversation with decent grammar is when you can move on.
its def possible to learn more than one - probably as long as they're not really similar. like learning spanish and portuguese might be a struggle but im learning spanish and korean at the same time right now and they're VERY different and not easy to mix up
You can tell she is passionate when she speaks, she has a beautiful blue aura :) You are such an inspiration ❤
If I'm 18 do I still count like a child? hahaha :( omg I'm so impressed about you. Congrats! :)
Mare Faith do you mind helping me with French ?
I have all the grammar structures and a lot of vocab collected over my four years of learning Spanish. I'm jus too afraid of using it, I'm so thankful for this video and I think I finally realized I need to let go of the fear of making mistakes and not being understood because that's how people learn right? From mistakes :) excited to watch more of your videos and continue my journey to becoming more fluent in Spanish and learning Japanese
In which language do you dream or think? I'm really curious.
Hugs from Spain.

Tu m'inspires! Le coréen, l'hébreu et le norvégien m'attirent aussi 😍
Hi again
I just wrote you a message on your blog. I'd love if you'd respond to it.
Hope you had a lovely Easter in the Czech Republic!

Currently a college student, but I find it hard to find time to focus on academics and clubs while learning another language :(
TheHighTides It's hard, but you have to manage your time. Watch some talks about time organization on Ted Talks, I think it will help you. :)
His Highness some spanish shows with subtitles are on netflix & hulu
alypamsol hulu is expensive, and Netflix is forbidden in my country.
His Highness hmm..well there are some youtubers that solely speak spanish. "Wendy y la familia" is one. hope this helps.
What series with eng sub did you see? I'm learning english.:c
spanish right? most of the shows have spanish subtitles. one show was in spanish with english subtitles called "las chicas del cable"
That was a lovely video. Thank you! It was important for me to hear that. I've always been afraid of making mistakes and you're right. Making mistakes is the end of the world. It is actually what allows you to open new doors and go beyond your comfort zone.
do you have any tip for learning chinese?
yes, I might do a video on that!
Ummm I have a tip but it's mostly for like characters, like the characters u should see an image example: 人 means person and the character looks like a person. But u also have to pay attention to strokes as well like 妈 and 吗 , since they have different prefixes they obviously have different meanings.... idk if this helped u
El Feduu. There is a free app called memrise its great. 👍

ShyFlower_ 143 Thank you! I might teach myself ASL..
The Nerdy Narwhal patois! so you can go to jamaica one day❤

I only speak 1 language. But interested & motivated to help my 2 year old son learn French, Chinese Mandarin & Spanish. We started 2 months ago with French and he knows french greetings and how to count to 20. I learn too ;)
Merci Beaucoup. Au revoir. X
You're so pretty

Lo gracioso es que hablo español y veo este vídeo porque quiero aprender inglés jajaja
Michelle yo también jajaja
You are SUCH a bad-ass, Eve! I am also a polyglot; I am fluent in four languages (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese). I am really struggling with my newest language, Arabic. You helped me understand why. I haven't made any effort to understand the culture. In my case, Syrian (learning Syrian [Eastern] Arabic). I am going to engage with the culture...learn about the people, including current political/war conflicts.
going to tackle danish since my boyfriend is 😇
ccisdacute1339 Hvordan går det med dit danske?
Thanks for your video- your presence on line, tone of voice and passion are a joy to the viewers. Blessings
The volume on your camera needs to be turned up more
Thank you for this video!
Thank you! :)
you learned portuguese? you have my respect ;P
you are so inspirational omg i'm currently fluent in two languages and learning 3 more, one by teaching myself, and your videos have really motivated me to continue on! thank you so much for all of these tips :]

You're so beautiful.
Excited for this series! I can speak very very limited German from what I learnt at school but some things have stuck and sometimes I can understand basic things from peoples conversations. This language sticks for me but I see what you're saying about interest in culture. So I'm going to learn something else!
I can't believe you can speak so many languages, you go girl!! Don't let anyone put you down.
Adorei! Sou brasileira e falo inglês e um pouco de espanhol e francês. Vou seguir as dicas!
