Driving my 4th Volvo since 2015, still has 0 issue so far. Great cars and quality! Can’t wait for the XC60 to have the same update and it will be time to change to the 5th one.
I noticed that the car was equipped with Pirelli PNCS tires that have foam inside them, which provides better sound insulation from road noise. Great job, Volvo! I look forward to upgrading my 2021 XC90 T6 to the 2025.5 XC90 T8!
Great review! The car looks good, hopefully XC60 and XC40 will follow soon. I like almost everything about this; the "tablet" needs to be better integrated -- this is Volvo after all. At least the operating system looks much better now, so that's a start. This car is going to look nice 10 years from now, in a typical elegant Volvo fashion.
Sure! Hybrid family SUVs are fuel-efficient, spacious, safe, comfortable, tech-savvy, and offer good performance. That sounds like a cool choice! Hybrid family SUVs can be a great option for a mix of space, efficiency, and eco-friendliness.
Great review Rob. I think it looks great in denim blue and I want my next car to be a blue car. That particular red looked great by but I’ve had a red car and I really want a blue car and I know I look good in denim blue and I loved the three Volvos that I’ve had .
Looks good outside, but the interior screen is not an elegant solution. I don’t know why automakers including Mercedes think it is okay to tack an iPad to a dash. A premium automaker should not settle for this type of solution. Buick doesn’t settle for that. I don’t think Hyundai does. Design a modern dashboard.
The venerable 747. I remember reading about its development in Popular Science magazine in grade school. Its gone through many avionic upgrades and engine improvement over the years, but still couldn't keep pace with more fuel efficient engine designs and finally had to throw in the towel to more cost effective twin engine designs, It just couldn't keep pace, despite it extra large seating capacity. Wonder what the president will be flying next, since Boeing no longer builds anything that large anymore.
Would have been much better if they had increased the battery size to get more electric mileage out of it. Current owner of a XC60 Recharge and loving it. Just wish I could get more than 35 electric miles from a full charge. Oh, and it's a shame they don't have wireless Carplay.
Can anyone give more insight on the B5- B6? I know the B5- B6 began to roll out in 2023. What concerns me is the complexity of the engines, hybrid with a turbo and supercharger. Are there any high mileage B5-B6 engines out there?
I have a 2021 B5, in a XC60 though. almost 60000km on it so not really high. But it's not that much more complex, I think it mostly help starting up the engine and make start stop feature useable. It also help to spool the turbo a little bit and in theory Volvo claim that it will lower consumption in traffic slightly I think. B5 and B6 is same engines, B5 got turbo and B6 is turbo and super charged.
This or the BMW X5 plug-in hybrid? I'm thinking BMW would be the one to get based on CR rankings but this looks quite nice too. The Lexus TX 550h+ would be in that mix too. It seems like the plug-in luxury SUV market is really starting to heat up!
Volvo doesn't provide an electric adjustable steering wheel due to safety issues with electrically adjustable steering wheels. You can get trapped behind the wheel ... btw the air suspension is optional on the B6.
After buying a C40 I have fallen in love with Volvo interior design. However, I would say the XC90 is oddly sized for the US market. I love the PHEV concept but feel they need a XC100 design that is similar to this, but has a couple more inches head room and at least 6-8 more length so it has a real third row. This one is poorly packaged. Myt wife's 2024 Santa Fe has a more usable third row than this.
Few complaints 1: incandescent bulbs? 2: no tinted 2nd row and 3rd row windows? 3: 3rd row is not power operated? And it also doesn’t have straps to easily fold the seats up from the cargo area? 4: if I just stand in the middle of the back area, and press the tow hitch button, my leg is gonna be severely injured. What a stupid design. Conclusion: So much cost cutting for a luxury 3 row SUV.
I would rather go Mazda cx90 or 70! Way more luxurious and modern looking and also $30,000 less. Volvo is outdated. Buick is even more luxurious looking than Volvo these days…
The materials look nice but the interior and exterior design look dated. They look like they’re from 12 years ago. The driver’s display looks dated and the infotainment looks like it needs to be updated as well. The large glass roof helps to make the cabin look brighter. The rear of the center console looks nice. Thank you Volvo for the bench seat option! That 2nd row seat doesn’t move forward enough for 3rd row access. Like in so many “three row SUVs” that third row is laughable for adults. This wouldn’t work for me as a 3 row suv because of that 2nd row. I want a vehicle that can seat adults in that 3rd row.
They are. This was the best interior that why it’s lasted soo long. I do t want a nightclub disco like the Germans. Don’t want a PlayStation on wheels. I’m good on that. Keep it classy and sophisticated
It's not Swedish. It is Chinese-style. It's been a long time since China acquired Volvo. How can you still say it Swedish? If you don't trust me, ask ChatGPT.
ChatGPT called and wants you to stop name dropping.🤣 BTW, to quote AutoWeek, "Production has begun in Gothenburg, Sweden, and US deliveries (of the 2025.5 refresh) start in January." So the vehicle identification numbers, VIN, of these will start with YV (Swedish origin) instead of an L (for made in China) . The EX90 (EV variant) will be built in South Carolina with the Polestar 3 and the VINs will reflect that too.
@@cbotten106 According to your logic, does that mean if Toyota produces cars in the U.S., they become American cars? Would you say that Toyota is an American car manufacturer? Volvo owner is China.

My 1986 had over 480,000 miles on it and I gave it to a homeless person and I have no idea how long he drove it. Somehow I blew a hole in the piston on the 89 model at 288,000 miles. The 89 made a lot more power with a V6 and the 86 had a inline 6 that was like a tractor engine with about 90 horsepower but they were really cool looking. Leather seats, sunroofs, mag aluminum wheels which weren't common in the 80s. I've always wanted to buy another one but I'm big on doing research before I purchase anything. They kinda took design cues from Mazda.. the rims look like CX70 ones and the lateral portion of the headlights resemble the 90.
