I have a question about my father's Mosin.
      Its a very convincing 1939 C.A.I. import.
Serial number on scope and reciever. Real scope, Proper screws, the works.
Thousands and thousands of mosins were produced monthly. Millions yearly.
A certain amount were tested then set aside to be made into a PU.
I know the PU sniper program didn't start until 1942.
      My question is this.
Would ia rifle have been produced in 1939, placed into storage, opened up in 1942, tested, then made into a PU?
Its been bugging us, thank you for your time.

Howdy, thanks for watching! PU snipers were created from new rifles off the production line. However, I cannot speak for every Mosin ever made, so anything is theoretically possible (only a sith deals in absolutes). Please feel free to email me some pictures of the numbers and barrel markings, I'd be happy to give you the Big Sam assessment!

Big Sam the Mosin Man! Stamp videos are so helpful. I worked at a pawn shop for a few years and sometimes finding a specific stamp on the interwebs was impossible. The knowledge that you are giving us is invaluable.

Sam. I have the books and have watched lots of videos. I still don't know what "X Dragoon" means. Could you explain in detail and dumb it down for me? I remember when Ben was still at Classic Firearms and he would open/have opened a crate of Mosins and he would point out the "X Dragoons" I could not figure it out. I thought from book-study they were older and maybe longer rifles??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS Love that pre-1900 you show at "0:59"

Is there a way I can send you pictures on mine to tell me info about it I know it's not a sniper rifle because it doesn't have the drill hole welded and filled in and filed down.

@@BigSamMosinMuseum absolutely, I gotta get a nice picture of the markings. The last couple I took didn't show well because some of the marks are pretty lightly stamped. Its a nice Ex Dragoon that I'm pretty sure got rebarreled when the Soviets took it so its got all kinds of little fun marks
