    I think the problem with most reloaders is they do not realize it is a "machine" that needs adjusting, break-in, tuning and maintenance. I have learned that I had to get a "feel" for my press. Congratulations on reaching 20k rounds.

    I must admit you are pretty good when you get started on something. When you went to reloading you have gone all in. I have never seen anyone advance as quickly as you have. I have a Dillon 550 and went with it because it was dependable and had a great tool head set up etc. Never really trusted the progressives that advance themselves with a pull of the handle. I don't shoot large numbers of rounds as you do but I reload a lot of calibers and love a tool head set up. So, what I have works for me. I am glad that you are doing so well and seem to have got educated enough that you most likely are doing better with answers than a lot of the advice you get. Keep up the good work. Nice video.

    You got the point. This machine takes a few thousand rounds to learn about it. Moving from Dillon 750XL to this one, I did get into multiple desperate situation which made me wonder what stupid design that was. I even requested to return the machine. But after adjusting here and there, it does run more smoothly now, leaving just a few minor issues to be fixed. And yeah, give us that bullet feeder!

      If I'm looking at buying a progressive, would you recommend the dillon 750/550, or the X10?

    • @willxu08
      @willxu08 8 месяцев назад +4

      @@brockedandloaded6034 From my experience, if you're planning to use it for multiple calibers, go with Dillon 750. If you gonna use it dedicated to one cartridge which X10 has, then X10. X10 is a machine whenever I pull the handle, it produces a complete round. But it's too painful to switch caliber.

      Dillon presses are not what everyone claims either. I had two xl750 sold one, they are limited to 5 stations I also have two APEX10 and one of these X10 and all of them have issues that need to be worked out. the X10 is one third the cost of APEX10 only plus on it is the automation option..

    Metering extruded powders consistently is tough with this type of powder measure, it's just the nature of the game. Going to a larger diameter cavity measure will make the problem worse. Stick to a ball or flake powder, I like Win 231 for 9mm.

      Any serious shooter especially a competitive rifle shooter weather 600yd to 1000yd benchrest like i shoot, 100yd to 300yd BR like some guys or even PRS shooters never load their ammunition on a progressive loader nor would they their hunting ammunition. However we all do for our pistols weather for pistol competition or practice which we do not use extruded powder for. No one is going to buy a progressive to attempt to load accurate ammunition or ammunition at all using extruded powder. Would not make any sense.

    • @joecat101
      @joecat101 8 месяцев назад

      @@user-un5my5bw4j I basically said the same thing. In my progressive press I use ball or flake powders. When I use an extruded powder it's for long range accuracy rifle cartridges. Each charge is weighed individually on a Lyman trickle scale and loaded on a single stage press.

    I have to agree with you, the press is great.
    I have been reloading for about 50 years, 15 + with progressive presses. First the Hornady LNL, then the Dillon 650. The Hornady is good, but the pawls are delicate and the primer feed is just ok. The Dillon is better, but not perfect, the primer feed is a bit fussy. The FX10 is near perfect.
    All 3 companies have excellent customer service.
    I have 3-5000 rounds through it, maybe more. I did have one unusual problem with the primer feed. Occasionally a primer would get cockeyed in the primer disc and jam the press. Well, all the progressive presses I have used before had primer feed issues, so I was not surprised, but was frustrated. I called Frankford and described the problem to them. They asked for a picture, so I sent a video showing that the shell plate jerked just as it went into position and the primer in the disc jumped. They sent me a softer spring to go under the ball which locates the shell plate believing that the original was too strong an causing the jump. That helped, and I thought it would be ok. After a while, I contacted them again saying that the problem was better but not gone. They suggested that it could be alignment causing the primer rod to interfere with the primer disc's movement. I replied that I did not think that was the problem because I had been extremely careful to get the indexing right even using the Bragging Rights alignment tool and Dykeming it to be sure there was no interference, but to be absolutely certain, I had lowered the primer rod until it made no contact with the primer disc and the jump went away. I then raised the primer rod into place and the jump did not return!! BUT, when I snugged up the jam nut to keep the primer rod adjusted, the jump returned. Was the rod bent? NO, I bought a new nut from Ace Hardware, put it in and snugged it up. NO JUMP! Conclusion, the hole in the original nut was not perpendicular to the lower face of the nut and when tightened it cocked the rod just enough to cause it to hold up the rotation of the primer disc and the release it suddenly causing the disc to jerk and the primers to jump and occasionally land cockeyed enough to interfere with the shell plate and jam the press.
    Who would have thought that a nut would be defective? Who would check each nut before assembling the press at the factory? I doubt that anyone else will have this issue, but just in case, here it is.
    Other than that one in a million glitch the press has been almost perfect. The only things I would suggest are to figure out how to stop the case feed so that you can make adjustments without having to remove newly dropped cases, and to put larger heads on the bolts you need to remove to empty the powder measure when changing powder so that whey can be removed by hand.
    Frankford has a good one here. I hope the bullet feeder is as good.
