Just got my X10, new to reloading but as a long time dealer tech rebuilding engines I'm confident in my ability to be precise. I'll be watching all your vids lol.
My press should be here hopefully by the end of the week so I have been watching every video you have on it multiple times. I'm very excited to get started with a progressive press and no longer be spending hour loading 9mm on a single stage press.
Nice video! To perfect your setup I would gone with F.W Arms decapper and hold-down dies, the spring loading and centering in them would give you the details you talk about in the video.
No offense to FW but their dies are insane large needlessly, mighty Armory uses flicker springs and are now about to release a newer version of that as well. Easily over 30k rounds with their decapping dies with zero issues and they are used on commercial presses with hundreds of thousands of rounds with no issues and have become an industry standard.
Question please, using mixed bass there are variations in the length of the brass. That results in varying COAL. What’s the fix for this when loading 9mm ?
how were you keeping from feeding new brass into the press while messing with all of the other dies? I've been just pulling the tube out slightly and off center as to not feed brass when I don't want but I may be doing it wrong.
I'm receiving this press in a week or so and will be starting with 223. WIth the full length seating die I assume I want it touching the shellplate for proper shoulder bump. Is that correct?
I bought this press and it looks like it will be very nice for pistol reloading. Everything can be done with one toolhead. But I also wanted to start reloading .223 and 300 BLK. I guess 10 stations doesn't really help much for rifle cartridges. Would you set up two toolheads? The first for decapping, sizing, swaging and possilby priming. Then remove brass for hand trimming, chamfering and deburring. Second toolhead for powder, powder check, bullet placement and seating?
Hello sir, I bought my x10 from midway usa which the first batch that got released to the general public. I cant find much info on when the new cam came out and didn't get anything mailed to me. Was that just a problem with the 50 pilot program folks? Just want to make sure my machine has all the current parts.
I just ordered a mighty armory flare, seater and taper crimp dies. I would have gotten one of their sizing dies but 9mm is sold out. I also couldn't bring myself to buy 2 hold down dies for $50 per die so just got another feankford arsenal hold down from amazon.
Make sure you check for proper neck tension after the MA 9mm flare and crimp dies. I was having some issues and called Wayne at MA. He walked me through detailed setup and now it's producing perfect rounds. Definitely recommend the MA sizing die for 9mm.
At the moment the FA hold down die is not available anywhere. I hope FA steps up production as we seem to wait for months on anything they make for the X10.
Thanks for the video, would it be correct and safe to run down my 308 size die down to touch the shell plate just until it will gauge?.. is thata safe methode for this press?..thank you
Is there a valid rumor that FA will likely release an automatic bullet feeder and seater die that will only occupy one station position, i.e. station 9? Powder check station 8, then crimp at station 10?
Well, that could obviate the need to move the powder drop to station 6 if you wanted a powder check station. I hope it seats the bullets well. Didn't know you could automatically place a bullet and seat it with one handle pull.
I think there was an aftermarket company that used to make a system for Dillon 1050, but it involved a custom tool head and was very expensive. Lee also has a system with little fingers to place a bullet on the mouth of the case below the seat die, but I’m not sure how reliable they are.
You are thinking about the GSI bullet feeder. I have one and it can be either a gem or a nightmare. I was thinking that I might use a Dillion powder dispenser in place of the Frankford Powder system. The Dillon powder has a flaring die guilt-in. I would move the powder dispenser to station #5 and mount a powder charge checker 8:34 in #6, the bullet drop die in #7and have room in #’8 & 9 for the bullet seater and crimped dies. My reasoning is the interference of the Frankford actuating rod with the magnet of the powder check die.
Same question. Can I put the powder drop in the 5th station so I can run a powder check, bullet feeder, and separate seat and crimp in stations 6, 7, 8, 9?
This video has become my "bible" for X-10 setup. Thank you. One bit - perhaps the result of injured hand - your adjustment of the stop nut was off camera, and unclear what you were doing, and the text didn't really explain how to determine the proper "amount" of touch, before locking. The X-10 is really a case feeder insertion point, plus nine threaded die stations for the 10.
In the directions about setting positive stop lock they say to turn till it touches then add an extra 1/4 turn down. You only went till it touched why don't you go the extra 1/4 turn?
Also mighty armory says for pistol sizing die screw down to shell plate and lock down. You backed up a 1/8 turn why? Just asking if there's a good reason for deviating from instructions?
Those instructions on the x10 were written before the press was fully released and I have found many better ways to adjust everything which is why they have me make the videos....once you have all your dies adjusted properly to keep the shell plate level if you add 1/4 turn it will throw everything off again.
As for mighty Armory dies...or any others they usually want camover...you do not want camover on this press. I adjust them till I see them push the shell plate then back them off just enough to let the shell plate return to natural height but still barely touching the plate
You asked for an explanation and I gave you one, I am an outside contractor who works directly with Frankford Arsenal and I explained the instructions were written before best practices in the field could be realized. I held the pilot program group for FA as well, instructions were written even before the pilot program of 50 presses and I had my press for evaluation before even the pilot program was started and have been a part of several changes to the press. FA has reviewed the video right down to the engineer who designed the press. You will find that I correct the instructions in several videos and if you call FA customer service for certain issues they will refer you to my videos that address that issue and they refer them in their live Q&A sessions on FB.

This was vert helpful since I’m a novice reloader. Cheers!
Would you please list the model of each die please. I am new to all this, watched every video many times, as I plan to purchase an X-10.

Congrats on the press...if you haven't already join the official x10 group on Facebook
@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 wish it wasn't on FB. I got put in jail so many times, I just dropped it. My bad.

@@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 genius, thank you good sir.
Silly me, misheard you - and ordered several Mighty Armory "super duty" hold-down dies - no instructions - how to use this please ?

Dang! I already purchased extra tool heads for different calibers. Thanks for the information however. @@JB-ze5gk

If they didn't ship the cam in the box, it should have the updated cam
@bragginrightsprecisionrelo346 Awesome! Thank you for the reply!

The frankford arsenal hold down dies will work perfectly fine.

Why won't the RCBS lockout die work on this press?
Thanks a ton for your awesome videos!
it may very well work, just havnt seen anyone post about that particular die either way
Any idea why primers are crushing and jamming my press one will work them it will just crush one
Great info! and a big help
Thank you my friend
Thanks for the video, would it be correct and safe to run down my 308 size die down to touch the shell plate just until it will gauge?.. is thata safe methode for this press?..thank you
Why do back off first 2 dies?
Is there a valid rumor that FA will likely release an automatic bullet feeder and seater die that will only occupy one station position, i.e. station 9? Powder check station 8, then crimp at station 10?
No rumor...its coming...I am running one on my press now still in final stages.
Well, that could obviate the need to move the powder drop to station 6 if you wanted a powder check station. I hope it seats the bullets well. Didn't know you could automatically place a bullet and seat it with one handle pull.
FA are the first to achieve it to my knowledge...works very well and has a micrometer seating stem

Does the powder measure have to be in the 6th station?
Same question. Can I put the powder drop in the 5th station so I can run a powder check, bullet feeder, and separate seat and crimp in stations 6, 7, 8, 9?
Yes it does. Its the only place it will mount.
Pretty sure the powder measure has to go in station 7, not 6.
I think they have come out with a powder drop rod with a dog leg in it, so it can be moved.

What powder thru die are you using?
It comes with the X10 press. No need to buy a powder tru die.

The press is a piece of crap. Ask me I own one. I may be ok for pistol loads, but it sucks for anything else.
