No problem dude. I'm looking at 400ex's and I've found a 2013 in good shape I'm excited cause I rented one at Durhamtown Off road Park a few months ago. it was a blast
I was just watching one of your videos to see how you mount the FMF my phone bracket to your forever to get that little space or two but I didn’t know how it went on
I have only rode it on the ice with the new muffler so far, so I can't really say for sure. I am going up to ride this weekend though, so I will let you know!
I wouldn’t mind having a 400ex just to go screw around on. Do wheelies and stuff, but I kinda want a yz125 cause dirt bikes are fun and it’ll be easy to maintain with some power, unlike a 4 stroke with valves and shit.
@@adampaolucci9341 cool it seems to run good with just the slip on my 05 trx 400 is bone stock except for my front bumper and pro taper bars.. runs great . Kinda afraid to mess with it. So maybe with just the slip on I won't have to jet it.
@@adampaolucci9341 yeah for sure I can not find that slip on for mine.. I see it for Yamaha but not the 05 trx.. thank you for your input.. do you still have yours.. mine is super clean also. I love it.
+Joseph Krause I love mine, it's a great quad. Mine however does not have reverse, they got reverse in 2005, so that can be a deciding factor if that matters to you, other than that the only difference is the plastics and the seat. When I take my seat off the seat and rear fenders all come off together, I believe the newer ones just the seat comes off. Basically comes down to look preferences
Hey! I’m new to modifying quads and I just got a 2001 400ex a few days ago. I’m looking to get an exhaust but not sure whether I would need to jet my bike first? I don’t know much about that. Would you only need to jet it if your changing out the full exhaust? Or do you need to still do it if it’s just a slip on?
Hello! Congrats on the new bike man. When installing just a slip on muffler it is not necessary to re-jet. You would only need to re jet if you did the header pipe as well, or if you modified the air box at all, as that would change the air fuel ratio and require a re jet.
Adam Paolucci 7 Hey I also just looked it up on the internet if I need to re-jet after installing a slip-on exhaust and it says that it’s necessary. I’m not saying I don’t believe you, I’m just scared and trying to make sure I don’t make any mistakes. I want my bike running good haha
@@mattchop6 You won't need to for a k&n filter. No I totally get it, no worries! Theres plenty of different opinions and answers out there, I can only speak from experience with installing just a slip on, my quad ran great with no issues. I re jetted once I got the header.
@@mattchop6 When I said air box modifications, I meant like running open airbox with no lid, or drilling holes into the lid. Sorry I wasnt clear at first!
Thank you, I love it. And yeah it's a little long, but the grab bar does actually stick out past it. Plus you could always buy an aftermarket grab bar that's longer
Adam Paolucci 7 you can only change it if you cut it off and weld on a new one, thats what people do if they want to change it out. and yeah thats why i havent got the q4 yet, cause it looks like itll smash on the ground if you wheelie too far back and hit the grab bar on the ground (ive done this a few times lol but the stock exhaust doesnt hit luckily)
Adam Paolucci 7 2013, just bought it brand new last year. currently have a pro armour front bumper, with skid plates, nerf bars, tires and front shocks coming soon, also painting my rims black soon. if you ever test out whether it hits the ground id love to hear it, that would help me out a lot!
Your 400 looks like it's in really good shape to be almost 18 years old haha! Nice video and love your quad man
Bass Boost EXTREME Thanks man, haha! Much appreciated

Good video bro. I ordered one last week to install on my 2014 400x
Looks like I made the right choice...
mike17grundy Thanks bro. Sweet, enjoy it man!
Awesome video man. I have a 2001 in the same shape. Just got to Clean it after each ride, n they stay in good shape.
Thanks man, that's right!
Nice! Finally uploading again I see lol.
Thanks! Yeah finally! lol

Joey Goins Did you figure it out?
ok thank you
Welcome
Can you link where you got the exhaust please
Do you still have your 1999 400ex or has it been sold? Nice video by the way.
Yup I still have it. Thanks!
@@adampaolucci9341 Have you done any motor work or is it exactly like the way it was when you bought it?
@@ryan_400x4 The only motor work done to it is I had to rebuild the top end so I bored it to a 405cc, so nothing crazy
Try the dg mufflers
Jackson Wood DG is good, but I like my FMF.
Very good review but maybe a test drive with it
Thank you. Yeah that just gets kind of tough living in a city area.
Good comparison I'm buy 400 ex pretty soon I'm pretty sure it's stock and the the first I'm doing is exhaust so I've been trying muffler videos
Thanks, yeah that's exactly what I did!
Yeah im stuck between an fmf muffler or a dg muffler which I have on my current quad
+Tommy Teske Personally I like the FMF, but I've never had a DG
Yeah I like my dg on my scrambler I have now but it's a 2 stroke I like fmf more on 4 strokes so I'll probably end up getting fmf.
+Tommy Teske Yeah I think that's a good choice
I have a Pro-Circut T4 pipe on my 400ex and it's way louder than this
Mike Lazar Yeah the Q4 is not super loud.
How much was the Q4 (price) and what website did u buy it off
I actually bought it from a local power sports store who price matched Amazon at $289.99.
Did you jet your bike first?
No, I did not have to jet it with just adding the muffler.
what did you use for tracking the decibels?
Grizzly Bear I just used an app on my phone
Adam Paolucci 7 ok
I have a 2005 Honda 400 Ex will that also fit on my quad
I believe so.
Adam Paolucci 7 thank you
Add any performance or just sound?
I have only rode it on the ice with the new muffler so far, so I can't really say for sure. I am going up to ride this weekend though, so I will let you know!
+rzl07375 The Q4 definitely adds some performance in gears 1-3, top end stays about the same, 4-5. And of course adds great sound!
@Honda Havoc Yes I did!

Both are real fun, but yeah there is less to maintain on a 2 stroke bike. Get em both haha
@@adampaolucci9341 sick dude, i can't wait to get a bike, gonna be tons of fun for sure! lol.

Not when I just did the muffler, but once I added the powerbomb header I did.

did you have to rejet your carburetor to richen it up.
No I didn't rejet, it didn't need to be done with just the muffler. I plan to rejet when I get the powerbomb header though.
