Sam teaches Darrin that it's better to acquire what one desires through hard work and to prove that it isn't luck or witchcraft, despite Darrin's quick to accuse her of witchcraft . Love it. This is what Sam has learned by living in his world. She appreciates the gifts that he gives her far more than just zapping up whatever she wants herself.
This scene was uncharacteristic of Samantha. Although she enjoyed and appreciated nice things, she was always happy with what Darrin provided her, and didn't covet material objects. It's hard to imagine her being fixated on a magazine picture of a fur coat.
As I watch this as a 55 year old adult it amazes me how Darrin was such an insecure dud. He had absolutely no idea how awesome Sam and his mother in law were.

Like there, Sam could have said, "Yes, I can have a mink coat any time I want, but it wouldn't mean the same to me as a coat that my husband gave me. I'd rather wait for the gift so I can enjoy it all the more." But no, the script writers put silly fumbling words in Sam's mouth instead and Endora wins the argument. Exasperating.

I grew up watching this when new, and preferred the colored eps with Dick York.Dick Sargent was so grouchy and rarely smiled.At least York smiled and laughed, plus he liked Aunt Clara, and she liked him.That "I Dream of Jeannie" is what got on my nerves.Eden's character was so annoying, and so was her evil sister.

Better than smiling was York's portrayal of Darren's anger! When he was mad it was funny!
