There are times when I am very happy that the only choices we have are “thumbs up” or “thumbs down “.. where is the “LOVE” button when you need it. Thank you so much. The progress I have made in InDesign skills are unbelievable… and you are contributing so much to that.
At first wasn't working, got really frustrated and had to start my booklet - I think I made a mess of the master pages or whatever, but after starting again and following this through it works very nicely, thank you so much!
This really helped and I was able to make a presentation using the Multi state object function. I have watched one of your tutorial long time back and due to the simplicity and clear steps, I loved it. And today when I was searching for Interactive functions in Adobe, you were the one whom I was looking for. Glad that you are making many useful videos in this topic. Will come to watch more. Usually I don’t simply subscribe to many channels but I am glad to sub your channel as it’s definitely worth it.👍
Thanks that was so helpful 🤩🤩 Is there a way that I could share the file as PDF with all the interactions and the text animation instead of online link ?🤔🤔
Thanks again for your amazing teaching skills🙌. I have a question for you! Is it possible to make objects from states to buttons that affect other state objects? For example, I have 5 images stacked on top of each other (and we can go to the next image by arrow). Now, I want to make each image a button, so when I click on them, the specific text from my text state shows up. However, when I try to link them, it only shows me one of the states.
:) It was very useful, thanks a lot! I have a problem though, like in the tutorial I´ve got 4 buttons that go to different animated texts. But when I publish online or even in the preview, not all the buttons work, sometimes only two, or sometimes only 3... Any idea about what should I check?
Nice video! I have a problem with the animation loading on page. Instead of one text area, I have grouped some text areas and objects together. It won't load on page directly, you need to push the button first. I've already tried it 2 times, but it won't work. Do you have a solution? Cheers
Thank you this was supper helpful. Once I get to preview (frame 9:55) after I click the button it bounces back state 1. The button I created was a clear box on top of my image.

I've never created a tutorial on interactive planner, but you've given me some ideas! I would say, if you want something with more options, keep away from PDF Interactive. If you want to keep it simple with button interactivity, tabs, etc.. then PDF would be ok.

Hello Angelo, does it works if the text is not stacked in the same layer but instead is in different layers, so you can change it, if it is necesary? Otherwise it is complicated to read or manage.
Hi Sajith! Please note that Object State interactions do not work for PDF (Interactive). You may want to check out this tutorial to create Show/Hide Buttons for PDF. ruclips.net/video/Ygy0-2OrrGY/видео.html
Hey there! A lot of my latest InDesign interactive tutorials covers how to publish online. Interactive buttons using Object States are best for Publish Online or EPub (Fixed Layout) stay away from Interactive PDF as it won't be supported. Thanks!
Thanks Jocelyne! This is perfect for presentations either online, or exporting as an EPUB (Fixed Layout) and opening in a reader, such as Apple Books or Adobe Digital Editions. You're correct: States and animations won't work in PDF (Interactive). Buttons and other media (audio, video) will open in PDF though.

@@AngeloMontilla thank you. I was just wondering as I may do some presentations and wanted to get creative 😊
Hey there! Object States (Multi-state Objects) will not work for PDF. You can use Show/Hide Buttons and Forms, which works similarly in nature. For example, for a photo gallery, you could create the photos to Buttons with no Actions and then set the actual Button actions to show/hide each image in the gallery. You can check out this tutorial and see how Show/Hide Buttons and Forms works: ruclips.net/video/KKLSieK686g/видео.html I have already set it to the point in the video where I cover that.
Hey, is it possible to have own shapes as buttons? In my case I have a map with a few areas located in there, and I want the exact shapes of those areas as my buttons. (Instead of the basic square shape that gets created). Is this possible? Thanks a lot in advance!
Hey there. Yes you can. I would suggest bringing over the vector (open in Illustrator and copy into InDesign) version of the map. This will allow you to select certain parts of the map and convert to buttons. If you import the map as an image, you won't have that capability. Hope that helps.
Hey there! No, Object States will not work in Interactive PDF. A good substitute to for PDF is using Show/Hide Buttons and Forms. I cover how to do this in my latest tutorial at about the 28-min mark. Thanks! ruclips.net/video/Vz4kpP8cB2g/видео.html

Hi Annabel. This won't work in PDF (Interactive) because it would require Flash for much of the interaction to be functional. Adobe has phased out Flash support so it's better to either export for EPub (Fixed Layout) or use InDesign's Publish Online feature.
Doesn't work for me for some reason, could the reason be that each individual multi-state I have is several elements grouped together i.e. images and text or should this not matter?
Hi Angelo, thank you so much for this tutorial. I am encountering one issue I cannot figure out maybe you have also encountered. I have created a page with the same functionality as yours but when I preview the animation my information text does NOT fly in on page load, I have to click the button in order to make it happen, which I think may be confusing to some users. I tried changing that state to animate on page load by clicking into it, but that is not an option for me, the only option I am given is on 'On State Load'. I also tried animating the entire multi-state object to Fly in On Page Load but that doesn't work either.. Any suggestions?
