I feel like in 2020 there should be a simple plug and play solution for this. Literally every musician would buy it.
@@omxxvi lmak that's what i thought
@@omxxvi there is i just ordered it lol
You might want to check the iRig out
There should be a wireless guitar which transmits audio directly to the laptop using bluetooth
This is 2020 no one gets what they want this year
let me save ur time. what you need is;
1)guitar
3)guitar cables
4)laptop
5)audio interface
6)speakers or headphones
7)some softwares aka digital audio workstation (pro tools, reaper, ableton, fl studio)
8)amp simulator plug-in softwares
why 9 minutes is perfect getting knowledge comes at a price, time
yeah for me as a music producer is more than save because in the studio you need a audio interface and a headphones sooo its better to add just the guitar to the collection rather than adding the guitar and the amp tooo soo expansive
Why do we need speakers and headphones , doesn't the guitar itself makes sound ?
@@AliasZiro Thats why it is called electric guitars :) .
Which probably cost more than an amplifier
Very interesting and detailed video!
My uncle used to play his electric guitar unplugged all the time.
When I got my electric guitar, I got an amp as well but I rarely use it. I just love the sound of unplugged electric guitar, to me it sounds much more intimate and warm than an acoustic guitar.
Bro, since my first amp all I’ve done is sit on the floor and play that guitfiddle! I’ve played since I was 13 or 14 and still sit on the floor with my SG to this day and I’m 45
I have used amps in bands though. I recommend it now and again.
I bought an electric guitar as a surprise for my boyfriend, but couldnt afford an amp. Thanks a lot!
Litteraly me, I bought a 🅱️Ass and amp is too expensive for me
Glad we could help!! :D
Your Profile picture shows how you felt xD
i hope i get a Girlfriend like her xD
Best girlfriend I never had
End up spending more on the laptop alone then on the amp
Sorry to hear that! We were assuming some of you guys have a laptop or computer already. And besides, a cheap laptop will do for this one 🙂
Dan Ill yes, just make sure the speakers you use can handle bass pretty well. It’s easy to break a lot of speakers if they aren’t rated well for bass. (Or don’t play super loud)
Geez what a party pooper.
It's clearly for people who have the gears already, so they don't have to buy an amp, and they just need to use what they have.
Is it that hard to understand?
Theresa Thompson that’s what I’m saying it’s f ing easier just to buy an AMP than just to buy all the freaking gear that you need
Dayat Thamrin r u really commenting the same shit on every comment that says that it’s easier just to buy an amp then all the gear ?! Really man
This is the most detailed video i have ever seen 😗
Thanks a lot!!! We appreciate your comment :D
thanks for the tutorial! so much easier than I thought. i hate how so many videos don't actually show you how to download and insert the plugins into the DAW as I am a noob in this department. thanks for the easy tutorial
holy shit you only have 170 subs? UNDERRATEDDDD i really wanna buy an electric guitar but i have absolutely no wish to spennd any money for an amp so this helped me alot
Thank you so much! Let us know if you get that electric guitar :)
Did you get the guitar?
Did u get the guitar ?
did you get the guitar
Did you get the guitar?
Great detail. You perfectly explained why I should buy a cheap $40 Amp.
🤣🤣true mann
😂
Factss
@@ronijr4918 why is that? 😅
This guy is so cheerful you automatically put a smile on WTF
I will buy an amp.
thanks for such a detailed walk through! having the screen recordings especially helped :)
Glad it was helpful!
That interface will cost me more than an amp.
same mahnn,,!!
Really, what's the point lol?
@@vbnmorbus the interface also makes it so you can hear sounds more clearly, and your mic quality better too, so it's a longtime investment
Buy a behringer
there are free ones duh.. decent enuf to let u play ur guitar in the middle of the night. with less hassle of effect and wires. and the most important is u can record and write songs cause everythings in front of u.
so much help bro, i have had an electric guitar for a little while now and still haven’t gotten a amp, thanks bro
Thank you!
This is cheaper if you already have the pc and audio interface. But a blackstar debut 10E or any of the decent mini amps would cost less than the audio interface alone.
Is blackstar debut 10e a good choice as a beginner amp?
Awesome video! Thanks for showing how to set it all up in Ableton too, you saved me from a lot of confusion
An audio interface costs about the same as an amp if I understand that correctly
Well that budget amp won't give you a variety of tone that this setup will give you. You can literally get any tones out of this setup. Check bias Fx2 software
Actually, a decent audio interface costs more than a decent amp, plus you have to tangle with the softwares. Might as well get an amp...
@@Ganymede569 disagree.
there are other option aside from focusrite solo which cost about 5k less
alternative like
headphone amp (xvive)
headphone amp pedal( saturnworks headphone amp)
no need for pc unit just aux cable and speakers
people are complaining about the cost of those things compared to an amp..
Most people already have a computer and if you dont its 2020 was 2019 at upload date but same situation.
A Guitar which is the primary reason for wanting gear, A Cheap computer, relatively nice headphones, and the Interface.
As i mentioned most people have a computer or even an iPad, headphones are not expensive unless you are trying to prove something.
u can buy computers for less than $100 if you buy a machine from a few years ago.. its doesnt have to me fancy macbooks and what not..
Now think about all the things you can do with that setup as opposed to a single amp with built in speakers and your guitar..
You can literally record yourself and compose music layer by layer and learn music production at the same time.
FYI : Some digital multi effect also have 3.5mm socket. Some models even have some built in amp simulator.
Omg this video is actually unbelievably helpful
i love the way he says "guitar"
👍 straight to the point, clear and very easy to understand.
To the point, wholesome, and very educational. Great video!
Yeahhh I’ll just save up and buy a mid priced amp
Robert Bringoth I knooowww right
The audio interface just has a same price as an amp
@@jazzram_ fr tho
@@dopeshope4976 yye lol
I cannot do this sadly as I do not live alone.
Nice video Teddie!
Salamat! :)
Love your energy, you seem like the nicest dude on the internet sort of, haha. very helpful video too ;)
How to check if PC is running in 64 bit or 32 bit Windows version
Click on the Start button then choose Settings.
Click on System.
Under System, choose About. You will be able to see the bit-version on the System type field.
One of the most important questions regarding a setup like yours for many people is: How good is the sound quality out of your nearfiled monitor speakers compared to the much bigger speaker of a usual amplifier? Can you compare? I guess your guitar playing at the end of the video is a digital recording from your computer and not a microphone recording from the speakers, right?
Yea you are right :) its from my computer. For me, nothing beats the feel of a real amplifier in a room compared to this digital setup. But for recording, efficiency, and "tweakability" i'd go with this digital setup hehe. Plus, you could practice/record without angering the neighbors hehe. Thanks for the question :)
Good video. BTW you can always download 32 bit programs on any computer but they won't use more than 4gb of ram
thank you for explaining
You're welcome! Glad to have helped in any way :)
think we need a full cover of that song at the end.
Quick questions : How do you manage to use guitar pedals if you have some ? Would you be able to use a Guitar lamp amp in chain with the Focusrite AI instead of using amp simulator ?
Thanks for your answer !
You can use your physical pedals while using an amp simulator :) so the chain would be: guitar- pedals-audio interface- DAW-amp sim.
As for using an amp with the focusrite, you can actually mic your amp using the audio interface :)
Ted and Kel that’s a very nice detailed explanation. Thank you very much !
Thank you so much I’ve been looking for this tutorial for ages all the other ones on RUclips are so confusing.
an actual amp is cheaper than the audio interface
a crappy cheap amp yes. while a budget AI like the one he's using can be the doorway to different good sounding free amp sims and effects. all ready for to play and use.
Helpful & clear concept video.. Thanks
Thank you for showing us that. Awesome.
I didn't knew that Electric guitar needs amp and bought a expensive guitar with all my savings but didn't bought a amp now I'm playing without amp 😪
I bought the amp first,, now saving for the guitar 😁
400th sub!
Awesome!!!
Thanks for this. There is surprisingly very little content/info out there that doesn't throw around terminology like you already know what they're talking about.
Where to get that thing connecting laptop to guitar
You can get the audio interface in music stores :) or even online stores like amazon
I loved this tutorial !!!!
This video so god damn detail than my relationship with her
Is powered speaker necessary or can we hear the sound from laptop's speaker also?
I wanna know this too
@@shauryapsbisht laptop speaker work aswell
Heres my way of saving. Buy a headphone amp cost probably 30bucks plenty of tones as well. Distortion, blues, clean. Works pretty well for a beginner. (the vox headphone amp)
Can I connect non monitoring speakers to the audio interface? If not then can I just connect the speakers normally to the pc and use them as output?
this channel is amazing
awesome vid thank you
Thanks a lot, Myo! :D
You're a lifesaver. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this video. It’s very helpful.
that's really cool bro, much informative.. i had a question that if we take output directly from speakers rather than recording it or using headphone.. how much latency we get ? have you tried it? if it sounds good enough and with no delay, i really don't think there's any point buying an AMP in 2023 with electric guitar.
Can you recommend any Amps where I don't need pedals?
Or could you explain why I need pedals?
Actually useful! Thanks!
Tq ted for explaining in detail
What song was you playing at the end??? And what kind of guitar is that, very nice!
man you are awesome!!
You're awesome!
Way to go man, you made everything crystal clear, thank you very much!!
Thank you so much for your comment!
Hey Guys. Not wishing to take anything away from Ted and Kel but I just bought a "JOYO mini guitar amplifier" for less than 10GBP (£9.87) from eBay. A little box, not much bigger than a pack of cigarettes. Plug it straight into you're guitar, no leads required. You can use it as a 2Watt Amp (sounds a lot louder, really packs a punch, great for home use) or plug in a pair of headphones. You can plug in an mp3 player with backing music, it has a clean or distortion switch and runs off a 9v battery so is portable, or use a power supply. I think it's an amazing piece of kit. Check it out! But shop around, they can be 3 times that price for the same item.
p.s. I ordered mine from China and wasn't expecting it till late September but it came via British Royal Mail two weeks later so they must have an English Agent.
Awesome! There are various ways for people to play their electric guitar without spending much. If you are into playing and practicing the electric guitar in your bedroom then that JOYO mini guitar amp is great.I was just presenting my way of doing it since i already own an audio interface and a laptop because I'm somewhat a music producer. Plus with this way, I could record my guitar playing and even try out tons of cool amp and pedal simulators! Nevertheless, anything that keeps people inspired in playing their electric guitar is what I aim for. So thanks for sharing!
Whats that ”cheap adapter” for your speakers or headphones called?
Hello! Thank you for your comment! It's a 1/8 3.5mm Female to 6.5mm 1/4 Male Headphone Jack Adapter Plug Stereo Audio :)
Is there delay or lag when playing guitar and hearing it?
There won't be if you have an audio interface :)
the riff in the beginning doesn’t sound exactly like the song its supposed to be does anyone know if it’s a different version or what mix it is and where to find it?
Sounds very weezer to me
can i not use audio interface? can i plug guitar directly to headphones
Moral of the story: just buy an amp , don’t waste ur time
Wouldn’t agree more you’ll spend more on all of the accessories then you would for a cheap amp
Geez what a party pooper.
It's clearly for people who have the gears already, so they don't have to buy an amp, and they just need to use what they have.
Is it that hard to understand?
@@sirjackjackal1042 smh
Dayat Thamrin i Didn’t say that I have the gear or not which I don’t and then I just commented this because I am new to this world of electric guitars and it seems easier just to buy an amp
@@x.o_0__y You're talking as if I was talking about you specifically.
Again, the keywords are: "People who have the gears already".
Hey Ted and Kel. Can I also go into the direct audio in of my shitty pc onboard audio card, thereby saving some money for the usb audio thing?
You could. However, there is a big chance that you will experience some latencies (a delay from your playing and the sound coming out). Which could be a huge inconvenience.
I wanna buy an electric guitar but I don't know what's needed, I was hoping to just buy the guitar on it's own, What is needed for it to sound decent
I've written multiple punk rock albums without any amplifier.
The player can either play guitar or or they can't.
Example : Ludwig By the end of his career he was completely deaf and could compose with his mind and vibration. Fact check that
Yeah Beethoven you got it
Psyche that’s his last name his name was Ludwig Van Beethoven
Psyche ah
great vid...thanks!
thanks a lot!! :D
em are we still taking about the guitar or software plugins
Great thank you!!
Hey there...
I wanted to see if this method works without using an audio interface device...
Like there are 1/4 to USB cables or 1/4 to 3.5mm cables that u can directly connect your guitar to your laptop... Is it actually possible not to use that audio interface device?
I also wanna know that
Did u try it?
Man we have the same guitar thats epiccc
That focursite costs more than a decent amp💔 can i skip it somehow?
Hi Tarique! Thanks for the question. An audio interface like the focusrite is a powerful tool for guitarists that gives you the capabilities to try out and record using different expensive high-end amps on a budget through an amp simulator. But if you want to skip on it and just practice, you can buy yourself an amplug or a cheap amp like what other people suggest in this comment section :) or if you have a mobile device, you can consider getting an irig :) cheers!
Can you just use standard computer speakers (e.g. just a 2.1 pc speaker setup) or do you need monitor speakers (e.g. Rockits) for it to work?
You can! Just assign the output of your DAW to your computer speakers :)
This video is simply perfect, well done !
I got an amp with ny guitar but just didnt have the cord for it
Thank you for the info I think I will buy amp only
Here in 2023 thank you for this cool vid hehe
Holy shit!
I will probably one day buy myself my own electric guitar.
I always had to use someone else's like my brother's and I don't know I just got super hyped up about playing again guitar.
I will probably be picking up an Ibanez, at least what my brother has sounds soo good to rock.
Why I'm exited about this is because I don't really like to make much noise but if I can play through headphones and even play back music behind it would be AMAZING!
I will come back to check things if the day comes :)
Edit: I even live on my own now and my family like hundreds of kilometers away from me so maybe the urge to play just gets stronger because I haven't had chance to play :DDD
Great video.
Yes emo rock that’s why I want one lol
Yes! Thanks.
what song did you played in 0:40?
Smoke on the water - Deep purple
Do I need a laptop? Or can I just have an amp?
Could you skip the audio interface if you don't care about quality recordings?
Cool man
instead of audio interface you can use rocksmith cable or something similar
New subscriber broo keep it upp 💞
Will do! Thanks so much bro!
Amazing helpfull vid! I've recently moved abroad and didn't get the chance to bring up my amp. I happen to have a Scarlet Solo I use for podcast recording with my AT2020 and with my Edifier R1280T and Beyerdinamic DT770 for music listening. I knew I could use it to direct feed recording of my guitar, but I never thought of using it as an actual amp because I always believed the delay would be unbearable. Do you happen to notice any sort of heavy delay or does it run smoothly enough?
As long as you use your scarlet solo, then there wont be any delay or "latency" as they would call it. The delay most of the time happens when you directly connect your guitar to your laptop or computer as its sound card may not be able to handle it. Thats why an audio interface like your scarlett solo can serve as a strong sound card that could let you play the guitar w/o any delay :)
@@TedandKel That's amazing! Thank you very much for both the content and for taking your time on replying my question! I'll have it set in a couple hours! Keep up the good content! Cheers!
Hi is there any latency on this setup? And for the speaker, what's the suggested wattage and volts for this setup? Avoiding damage to speakers and for safe use also for clear low mid high tones. Thanks
can i plug in a normal speakers to an audio interface, so that i can hear my guitar?
What's the brand of your speakers please ? x Thanks
what song were you playing on your guitar?
Why is the screen capture part so blurred?
We have the exact same guitar
I have an amp but what more effects, can I use amp asa an audio interface
Can we connect amp to sound card.pls reply
whats the name of the riff u did in the start of the video?
I just took a female mono Jack from a kareoke machine and wired it to a standard stereo Jack and plugged it in my laptops audio line in Jack and it worked.
I was using Fortrain Nameless Suite and I suggest you do the same if you can shred and play metal 24/7 like me.
It has all of the sounds that 38 years of metal albums have planted in my head
