Killzone 3 was my first in the series and I still haven’t found the ability to go back and playing the other 2 with them being ps exclusives and I’m now on pc. One of my favorite shooter of all time tbh, the gunplay always felt so weighty and immersive, the art style and design of the world, especially on the Hellghast planet, were so interesting and even terrifying in certain missions, and the Hellghasts themselves are such a memorable enemy. I’ll never forget the stealth mission where you’re first introduced to the guys with blade arms, bone chilling for 8 yr old me
It's definitely different from the others, which is why I love it so much. Hopefully you're able to play them again some day !
Also they did Narville dirty, poor guy.
Comparing him in KZ3 to his KZ2 portrayal is just, there's no compare. They massacred Narville and turned him into, as Stahl said to the senate "A total incompetent!"

In Killzone 2 the player squad only showed up to help out Narville because higher ups told us to. He was kickin' Hig ass and takin' names in Visari Square before and after Sev and crew rolls up just fine.
AND he had a kick ass southern accent.
In Killzone 3 he threatens to execute the best soldier in the damn army still living because his battle buddy-who he is NOT on good terms with at the moment-is a seething racist that got punked by a 4-chan troll into martyring the guy.
He then goes on to be one of the few characters in gaming history to be responsible for a terracide.

Great Vid, Great coupl'a Vids. Subbed as a result, love me some KZ discourse & its grand to see someone finding it for the first time. You had some fun take aways & I particularly enjoyed your theory crafting & your right, they could be a full series if you really wanted - but as you pointed out yourself, theres danger in getting too attached to a (seemingly, if whats been said by Gurellia is to be taken at face value) dead universe/franchise. The principle cast portaits for the helghast were also a real treat & i'd love to know if you uploaded higher res versions of those anywhere, but thank you for those & I for one would love to see you exapnd them, esp if they'd help with further vids on KZ.
One thing I will point out that did bug me (more minor niggle than glaring pain), both with this vid & some of your other KZ vids; KZ is a game deeply tied to the people & company that made it. That in turns colours alot of KZ's themes, style & direction; with i'd argue generational trauma being on of KZ's most enduring themes, even without expanded universe context. I think that background is something you might consider diviing deeper into. Not the development of the games themslves per se, but rather the KZ mythos & how that came to be & evolved, for better or worse, over the course of the series development.
I would definitely want to cover the development one day.

In my opinion the Killzone 3 plot and tone has turned into a dumbass, hollywood, patriotic, cheesy action flick, like the Commando, Expendables, Rambo 2, 3, 4 while the previous killzones had much more serious grounded war films tone, like the Saving private Ryan or Band of brothers. Tho gameplay is much better special being able to carry more weapons.

I won't ignore Shadow Fall. Despite how I talk about it, it's still one I'm really interested in from a lore perspective. They basically created a whole new universe for a single game. It's definitely getting it's own video because there's going to be so much to go over - and I am excited for it.
@@KoniraThax you're right it does have a pretty intresting lore when looking at it from that perspective but jeez the story. Also mercenaries should also get a cover as i heard that one was really good
@@Captain23rdGaming I did cover Mercenary in my larger Killzone video. The story at least. I've heard gameplay wise it's really good but as someone who mainly covers story/lore, it really didn't help the series as a whole.
Is it wrong to say I cared more about the Space Nazis' side of the story compared to World War 2 American Army *in space?*
I mean Radec was such a cool character to get like maybe ten minutes of screen time.
You are doing a phenomenal job covering this franchise. Killzone 3 is my third favourite video game of my life, and Killzone 2 being my second favourite video game of my life. I think you are serving Killzone justice. You definitely deserve more views and subscribers. Killzone is and always will be my favourite Video Game Franchise. Heck, the first video game I ever played was the first Killzone on the PlayStation 2 back in 2010, and only in 2023 I finally got a PlayStation 3 and bought Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 and I played both game's Champaign and offline Botzone multiplayer to death. I finished Killzone 3's campaign in a single sitting twice without leaving my chair. I even have an entire RUclips Playlist All about Killzone with your videos included and other Killzone videos. Why do people do this dumb "avatar" shit and make them just make faces and open their mouth at the side of the screen? It's cringe af and adds absolutely nothing. Especially when your character looks like THAT.

The game have more colors beyond the brown fest of the second game. The controls are more responsive with the lack of the deadzone analog stick. More variety of weapons, enemies and environments. The characters and the political drama over the villains side its fresh and interesting to follow, instead of the nonsense on the ISA.
If I can tell some negative aspects of Killzone 3 I would say its the Rico character. I just hate him and every interaction he is on it. That and the sequel bait with the "mysterious character" in the end that we never see again.
Overall, its a great game and I had a better time with Killzone 3 than Killzone 2. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love everything in KZ3 besides the story. I think there is a GREAT concept (being stuck on a planet during a Helghast Civil War sounds SOOOOO Killzone). The execution of the story has issues

Killzone 3 is the worst game in the series due to one reason: the ending was made of that juice at the bottom of the trash can. (Killzone Shadow Fork is just the series joke oopsie!)

@@KoniraThax To speak seriously KZ2 was my favorite and I find it a rare game. Always been one of my top 5 - very atmospheric and industrial but a secret gem due to it's painting of a war between two factions: the ISA in the wrong but going about it the right way, while the Helghast are in the right but going about it in the wrong way. KZ3 felt like it took KZ2's bones and added modern game thriller filler on it, and by the end of production they said "okay lets wrap this up and destroy the Helghast planet." (This all making KZSF all the more a ridiculous tech demo.)
Funnily enough, being young w/ the series I always looked up to Stahl and Orlock. Very nice video KT. I subscribe now.
Its worst cuz of one character and the end of an empire that should've spanned a thousand years...
