SO cool to see Microtech open up to teaching the inner workings of their products. Leaving it to the pros is always best, but for the seasoned knife lover who's taken tons of knives apart. Having an official tutorial is just awesome.
M-tech pays attention to detail…. That’s why I buy them. Where art meets functionality, just look at that toothpick they showed! I bet it is military grade T-300 tooth agitation device!😂.
Thanks for sharing this information Ray!! But I think I’d rather send it back and let the professionals handle any problems that I may have with any of my knives!!!! And thankfully I haven’t had any issues with any of my OTF blades which is a true testament of the build quality of them!! Keep up the amazing content and I’ll see you in the next awesome video!!!
Thanks Henry. While is isn't for everyone, we really wanted to clear the air on the proper way to do the procedures. Thanks for watching and have a great week.
How do we get the tool for the custom head screws I have a makora signature series as well as a bounty hunter exocet. The hawk and stitch doesn't really matter
Great video. Background music makes me feel like I’m getting a deep tissue massage. But seriously… great video. Just purchased my 4th Microtech, the Hera II. Also I’ll clean and lubricate but I’m not taking any of them apart. I’m leaving that to the professionals.
Well this answers my question. I can't get upgraded glass breakers for my older Ultratechs without sending them in. Pretty sure mine are authentic but the postage and the wait are hardly worth it to me for such a subtle upgrade.
Can you purchase different style blades for an OTF? Exe: if I have a new Combat Troodon with a double edge but want to get a single edge blade for it… do you all sell blades individually?
Well, we still recommended the “flood” of REM oil when you need to get it up and running without the disassembly process. Always blow out the residual with compressed air.
New Glykon owner here. I cannot ship my unit with the blade to your Repair dept. If I loose a spring can I remove the blade and send it without the blade - and install it when the chassis is returned? Of course I'll cover all FedEx courier fees. Thanks!
I have an ultra-tech and Mtech sells the bits to them. Also seen third parties make the bits. I am not aware of anything that would void the warranty for servicing a Mtech OTF knife.
Hey Ray i have a question. I have scarab 2 gen 2 and stop pin in the blade is not removable. What can i do if i want to remove it? Or how could i remove it so i can properly clean my scarab 2? Thank you and I appreciate your answer.
Great question. Way, way back in the day some of the stop pins were actually pressed into the blade. Now this was well over 12+ years ago. Your Scarab stop pin might be tight but it should come out.
@@XRING you were 💯correct like always! It took little bit of force and the right tool exactly like you mentioned on video. I highly appreciate your knowledge and help! Microtech would not be the same without you and your knowledgeable videos!! Have a blessed day Ray. Thank you again.
Wonder why he won’t give bolt torque specs? Lots of folks having to send theirs back for work these days I hope they can get their qt back to what it used to be.
wow , things are changing, evolving .......great job guys !!!

Love Microtechs new outlook as opposed to proprietary hardware! Its great!
Hourra Microtech. I just love your knives. My favorite are the Combat Troodon and the Stitch !! ^^
Thank goodness for this video. I was kinda nervous to open up my Combat Troodon Gen 3 to flip the pocket clip because I’m left handed.

LOL! That would be the titanium version! 🤣
Thanks for sharing this Ray, very nicely explained.
Thank you and thanks for watching the channel. 👍🏼
This is an excellent video! Very important and useful information. It's also oddly relaxing, nice to listen to, like asmr. 😅
LOL Donko. Someone actually mentioned doing some ASMR videos.
It is very interesting to see the interior of an OTF ..! ^^
Great info, great detail and nice camera work, thanks!
For your decandance, one Microtech knife. One Mont Blanc pencil, one Dupont ligter, and one Rolex watch !! ^^
2:13 What brand and model are those tweezers?

This a beautiful knife hands down, I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these in my next paycheck
You need to do the Mini Troodons
Thanks Ray…awesome tutorial!❤
Thanks for the video! Nicely done!
Very informative. Thanks!
Thanks for making this video. Appreciate you guys showing us how to do this.

I assume this I the same with the cypher 2. Thanks guys! Living the cypher 2. Feels like an upgraded ultratech in a way

Great vid, Ray! 👊🗡️👍
What's the stubby ratcheted Torx driver - that looks neat!!

Hope you can make a ramlock video aswell! :)
Excellent very informativ. Thanks!

Holy shit! We can service our OTFs ourselves???? Too bad I have an 2021 combat troodon with different hardware
I'm a fan of Ray now. He's a passionate employee and a solid dude🎉
Scarab 2 gen 3 gonna be pretty similar?
Please bring back the gear drop information videos.
amazing going from "spraying it full of Rem oil and leaving it upside down" to "2 small drops on the back of the blade"
Well, we still recommended the “flood” of REM oil when you need to get it up and running without the disassembly process. Always blow out the residual with compressed air.
Question: What tools would we need for the mini hera?
Awesome informative video! Just curious, how come the new models aren’t serialized?
China isnt allowed to serial them
@@KB-kw8niNice story but incorrect. 👍🏼

So, we can open them up now, without voiding the warranty? 😳
What about knives we have sent I for repair?
I sent my knife in for service almost 10 weeks ago.
Thank you.
But it is some normal torx screws ... Microtech put some specials Microtech screws no ..?!
What about the earlier models with proprietary screws, are we free to disassemble them without woiding warranty?
I have an ultra-tech and Mtech sells the bits to them. Also seen third parties make the bits. I am not aware of anything that would void the warranty for servicing a Mtech OTF knife.
@@eccopapa3855 I was wrong, they have changed warranty conditions, in the past all disassembly on an OTF was prohibited.
The springs in my Combat Troodon are already pretty weak. Ive had it for about a year with very controlled opening and closings.
In addition to not giving torque numbers, is Microtech now not giving each knife a serial number?
❤❤❤❤❤❤

If you’re main tools are vise grips and/or needle nose pliers then this video is probably not for you…lol. 😂😂😂
at a cost of $500 for the Hera 2 i'll just send it back to factory !!
Why are there 2 different peoples hands in video?
The videographer needed some other close up shots. Also, my hands look horrible anyway. 🤣
I was just looking at purchasing one of these next week.... The fact that you don't sell a spare parts kit (springs, screws) is a deal-breaker. WTF?
If u disassemble your knife it voids the warranty right?
No, but they will not send you parts if you lose them.
Мда.... Як кажуть надійність в простоті. Чим менше мілких деталей які можуть поламатися або загубитися тим краще. 🙄
The only thing you can’t touch is the internal screws on that Hera 2 because they are at a certain height.
@@whysoseriouszxd5946 Precisely !
Haha there sick of people sending back knives lol so do it yourself ') A+
Yeah you need torque specs, a reputable company has torque specs, betting on hopes and dreams wishing lock tight will hold no bueno
