I’m 72 years old and I was a teenager and this was played on my radio in the the 70s. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2000 after a 30 year career. This makes me feel like a teenager all over again.👍🇺🇸 Great song!!!!
This is a song about the Yellow River in America during the civil war. Put my gun down, the war is won! Yellow River is in my blood... Thank you, Christie 🙂
1970, along with 20 classmates travelling on a train bound for Frankfurt, this song improved our English overnight, as we sang this over and over about 100 times. I'll never forget that.
So long boy, you can take my place Got my papers, I got my pay So pack my bags and I'll be on my way To Yellow River Put my gun down, the war is won Fill my glass high, the time has come I'm goin' back to the place that I love Yellow River Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my mind and in my eyes Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my blood, it's the place I love Got no time for explanations Got no time to lose Tomorrow night you'll find me sleepin' Underneath the moon At Yellow River Cannon fire lingers in my mind I'm so glad I'm still alive And I've been gone for such a long time From Yellow River I remember the nights were cool I can still see the water pool And I remember the girl that I knew From Yellow River Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my mind and in my eyes Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my blood, it's the place I love Got no time for explanations Got no time to lose Tomorrow night you'll find me sleepin' Underneath the moon At Yellow River Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my mind and in my eyes Yellow River, Yellow River Is in my blood, it's the place I love

Dear Jeff, I discovered "Yellow River" earlier this year on a Swedish retro station at the age 37. It is one of the best pop songs I have ever heard. I conveyed my adoration of the song to my Dad, and he told me that it was a big favourite of his when he was a student in Leeds in 1970. Thank you for the music! Steve

Underneath the moon
At Yellow River
Cannon fire lingers in my mind
I'm so glad I'm still alive
And I've been gone for such a long time
From Yellow River
I remember the nights were cool
I can still see the water pool
And I remember the girl that I knew
From Yellow River
Yellow River, Yellow River
