I do wish that the audiences in these videos looked more like they were enjoying themselves as some of them look like they wished they were somewhere else. April, 2024 Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This was such a cool song. I was a child of the 60s (70 years young now) but I kept buying records (tapes and CDs) right through the 90s and into the early 2000s. Stopped for a while but have been buying some old vinyl recently and buying new CDs by old favourites. Mark Knopfler, Shania Twain, Terri Clark, Robert Plant duo with Alison Krauss, and others. I have this Rubettes on a 45 single.

1974.....I was 17. Half a century has passed in a flash. Almost like an out-of-body experience listening to this, now.
Thanks for the video. I am 64 years old. At the age of 16-17, we played it over and over on the tape recorder. When the batterries ran out, we would rewind the tape on a pencil. I still listen today.

Same age as you Joann. We really lucked out for hearing the great music of the 60's and 70's. What I wouldn't give to be able to go back and live it over again. Life was so much better than today.

I was in my late 20s living in Sydney Australia when this came out. I am 76 now, Still LOVING it - Sugar Baby Love", recorded in autumn 1973 and released in January 1974, is a bubblegum pop song, and the debut single of The Rubettes.
You cant be late 70's it came out in 1973 so you must be about 62
i was 19 when it hit number 1 in the UK in 1975. I am now 66 and still listeninng to it. OBE to them.

Впервые услышал в 1973 году, накануне ухода в СА, в ночном эфире по приёмнику. Запала сразу, и постоянно крутилась на языке. Только в 10-х годах этого века нашёл, и припомнил первое услышанное восприятие. Ничего не изменилось. Молодцы парни. В те годы расцвет рок-истории. А нас кормили " Самоцветами" да прочими"Машинами..." Грустно как то!

Jedna z ulubionych piosenek mojej młodości.
Ciekawa jestem czy najpierw było studio 2 czy lato z radiem. Za granicą na pierwszym miejscu była w 1974 r. Byłam jeszcze dzieckiem i nie mogę sobie przypomnieć tego. Wiem, że jak ich zobaczyłam to byłam zauroczona i zakochana w Alanie.
