Except the german style i have to say. I was amazed to hear his original voice in comparison to our german voice actor… he sounds to non-binding and intended funny.
The Turkish one has a dramatic story behind it. The voice actor (Harun Can) almost cried while recording the song. His girlfriend had left him and he was still in the mourning period. There is real sadness and anger in his performance.
what I liked about the original is that the crowd was heard singing along, implying that Jaskier was getting famous and his songs were known. The German version did that even more, but they kind of took it too far, as it sounds like a choir and not a disjointed drunken crowd.
the german was a church choir compared to the hungarian! 😂 honestly i kind of love it, the disjointed crowd joining. it builds the scene. only problem is it doesn't LOOK like everyone else is singing along, regardless of language lol.
The German one sounds awesome. As I could hear they were singing along in the Italian and Ukrainan version. Russian is very similar to Ukraine, but if you compare both songs, the Russian one was singing alone, while the Ukrainan one was joined by the crowd.

i’m sorry, but ukrainian and polish are the best. (english is also of course stunning, as it’s original and sang by joey) but the way people sing along with jaskier is amazing, and the passion and vocals of their voice actors are just *chef’s kiss*
Polish version is horrible, emotion language doesn't connect to conteporary langugae at all. "płoń rzeźniku"? Who says that... It's like mix between Sienkiewicz na WWII. No one talks that way so no one understands. "płoń" should be changed to something like "pal się (na stosie)" and rzeźniku should be changed too but there is no word for that. "Zbrodniarzu" would be the cloesest but it is too far. If we want to keep "rzeźniku" we need stronger resentment in burn. "cierp" is too soft, "gnij" is too far. Maybe invention of some new word would help. Cannot find one. But here is interesting hook. How about "pruj". "Pruj się rzeźniku, pruj". After my 5 min. analysis i would go that way. And it rhymes with "gnój" so you can change other line easily. "pruj się rzeźniku, pruj, by pozostał z ciebie ino/jedynie gnój". BTW what did it say in the original books?
Hearing these songs in Polish is always so satisfying!! Obviously i love what they’ve done with it regardless, but it would be so cool if they could pay more homage to the books’ homeland

Love the fact in russian dub he finishes song with the idiom "сжигаю мосты" ('burning bridges' literally) that means Jaskier decides to distance himself from everything that connected him with Geralt. I actually liked it more than English version.
The whole song about burning out Geralt from his memory I think, not only that idiom indicates such decision. Though, it is actually quite strange (to me) way to try forget someone. Russian version is pretty good in voice actor's execution, though it sounds to me they fucked up audio tracks mixing, as crowd actually not joining him at some point strong enough or at all, which heard on original and especially at the german version (my favorite on that point), and lost on some other versions.

@@etiennedouble-u8813 Yes, in the books he is a very well known bard and crowds love him but not his friends who complain about his constant singing. It is an interesting satire because those closest to him don't appreciate him as much as strangers.
@@agz1302 So there are simply annoyed because of his constant singing? Just like the barmaid I guess. I am very interested if there is anything in the book the would justify Jaskier's „hate song”. Although it's funny and awesome.
I hate the German version, because they are still letting him sing with honorifics, which makes zero sense for what basically is a diss track. Even the Japanese version dropped the formal grammar, so that the song rightfully sounds angry. But the German version is basically „let me burn the memories of you, sir“
English, Polish and Turkish are very good, super seriously, thanks to all the voice actors, they are all beautiful and successful in their own way for doing this successful job.
I am very impressed how they could find someone in every country whose voice sound so similar to joey's. (Exept Japan, he sounds like a totally different person) Still like the original the best, because they change up the text too much by translating to make it fit the melody.
I realy enjoyed the Hungarian not just because I am from Hungary, but becasue I admire how well we could translate it whitout changing the very thing its all about. But still the Polish and English are unbeatable! If anyone is curious what the hungarian one is saying, here it is translated: "Where he is? Doesn"t matter to me. After all the fights and miles we've been trough you just tossed me like a muddy used doll. Get eaten by the fire! On the oblivious wild fire burn! Today get devoured by the great fire as if a monster it would be. Or the flame do the same! Oh the terrible decay! Bloody flame, flame, flame, flame, flame, flame, flame, flame, flame. Smolder common memory and stay forgotten...."
Just a few corrections: rag doll instead of used doll. Also I would rather say wild fire of oblivion. And I'm not sure if it is wild at all. Maybe it is blind. Fits better thematically. But very nice job.
Top 3 non English version IMHO: 1. Brazilian Portuguese passion in Jaskier and especially the croud 2. Hungarian 3. German or Polish All of these versions were a party.
What is needed to this song is the right voice acting and timing to the original version. English version is so great, i don't even need to say more! *BUT* hear me out - *Russian, Ukrainian and Polish* are the best in voice acting, timing with original and having the most clear voice that suits Jaskier amazingly!!! Just look how they were breathing through the song ( 8:218:33 i.e. Russian) and trying to act like an original English version!!! And also i was impressed by French version - it's like i'm listening and watching musical. I can't say that i liked every version but it's just up to my personal preferences, however I'm glad to see a great work that every country has done so now everyone can learn this fantastic song!!!!! . _(вышло как-то патриотичненько даже)_

Its amazing that a song can broke my heart in 14 different languages. I think all of them are quite wonderful but this song fits some languages better than others cause of translational issues. I love especially Turkish one, he has a wonderful clear voice. Harun Can translated and sang this song after a break up and i could feel Jaskier and Harun’s saddness&anger in my heart.
It's hard to choose fav but because I'm hungarian the hungarian version is my favourit. But I really like the italian, french, ukrainian, czech and of course the english. All of the other versions are masterpeaces too
It is portant to interpret the way to save the emphasis on the ‘burn, butcher burn’, a lot of strong emotions and sounds there (b, r, t) . And I think Ukranian version did it the best. Although almost none of the versions managed to save this phonetic emphasis, I think Ukranain version of the burn is ‘pilay’, so the actors was able to put the emotion into the A sound. And teh also did awesome job producing and upting original background noices and so on in place. Also, actor delivered the lyrics perfectly.

Characters not liking his singing is are story lines from original books. All these performances are amazing 😍
@@agz1302 But isn't he also a famous bard in the books? I only know him from the games and there he is famous at least. Although I can not remember his singing voice.

Are there any lyrics in the books or are the songs described in any way (ballad, folk song, describing Geralt's adventures in a positive way like ’Valley of Plenty’ or in negative way like ’ Burn Butcher Burn’, tempo...)? I am very interested if there is anything in the book the would justify Jaskier's „hate song”. Although it's funny and awesome.
The sound of German language naturally fits this super well. Its fits the sad and mad mood of jaskier pretty well
I hate the German version, because they are still letting him sing with honorifics, which makes zero sense for what basically is a diss track.
(Exept Japan, he sounds like a totally different person)
Still like the original the best, because they change up the text too much by translating to make it fit the melody.
I realy enjoyed the Hungarian not just because I am from Hungary, but becasue I admire how well we could translate it whitout changing the very thing its all about. But still the Polish and English are unbeatable! If anyone is curious what the hungarian one is saying, here it is translated:
"Where he is?
I kinda like this reverse translation more than the original lyrics!

It's the point of no return
After еverything we did, we saw
You turned your back on me
What for do you yearn?
Watch that butcher burn
At the end of my days when I'm through
No word that I've written will ring quite as true
As "Burn"
[Outro]
Burn, butcher, burn
Burn, butcher, burn
Burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn, burn
Watch me burn all the memories of you
Ukrainians sounds pretty good, well played UA 🤝 PL
🤝
I can't stop listening to this. It's SO wonderful!!!
English, Polish, Ukrainian are FIREEEE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Polish sounds weird. Аpparently in lipsing badly matched. Russian sounds better.
@@garfieldcat4507 russian is the worst.
@@nitrofochv2185 You are funny.
once again the Polish version is amazing
English one is soooo good. Also all slavic ones feel great! I love this about this adaptation, the dub is so nice
Ukraine killed it, they kept it as close to the original as possible and it actually sounds really really good, it's not wonky or doesn't fit in some areas
I honestly hate Czech dubbing the last few years but Jaskier was on point here. French is also pretty great. It´s funny how Japanese has to fit 4 syllables into one syllable original xD
the 'su alma arderá' in the Spanish version is so powerful and deep. Loved it! The Japanese version took me by surprised. All of them are great though!
Wow, I'm actually impressed with the Latin Spanish, the voice of the actor is very similar to the English one.
It's so good! It's also really interesting to listen to the song over again when you can understand more than one of the languages.
My favorite ones are Czech, Turkish, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese. I don't speak a word of each, but I like how translated lyrics' sound match with a melody
Turkish version is so funny
It's not translated, exactly word for word so it's not hard to match it with the melody. As someone mentioned here, the song in the Czech version is reworked and not translated. While in the original it is sung about how they watch the butcher burn, in the Czech Marigold sings about himself constructing the pyre and the promise of death (and revenge) to the butcher.

In my opinion:
1. English/Polish
2. Turkish
3. Ukrainian
