For me, this was one of the simplest fixes for something that was high on the irritating scale! I watched the video, crawled under my 2010 Edge (which suffered from ALL of the symptoms described in the video to include water pouring into the passenger floorboard during turns.), and with the use of canned air, literally got ~1/2 gallon of water to come out. Problem solved. I truly appreciate the folks that take his/her time to record these DIY videos to save the rest of us so much time and money! Hats off to you all! Great work!
Saw another video and a comment suggested sticking a funnel into the hose and using a regular vaccuum (if you don't have a shop vac) to get the suction going. I gave it a try and it worked like a charm. The water came flowing after just a second and I got the tube drained. Just make sure you have a container ready to catch the water. Gave it a test drive, no more sloshing sounds and no more water leaking all on my floor. Thanks for the helpful vid!!
Again thank you for taking the time and trouble of making this video. I never would have expected the drain to be on the left side of what used to be the trans tunnel. Besides finding it, the hardest part is twisting the black hose loose from the white plastic elbow fitting going thru the floor. The floor fitting on mine blew air thru it with no obstruction, which told me that the black hose was clogged and the gallon of water was waiting to come flooding out when I gave the black hose a short burst of compressed air. Quickly putting the hose back on the plastic elbow sent the water to the garage floor instead of into the car. Thanks again!
My 2013 Edge had the same symptoms, water coming out of the louvers on the passenger's feet. The video saved so much time trying to find the drain. Had bath towel ready and had to re-attach hose after it was saturated. I quickly connected hose back in place and watched about another quart of water drain out on the drive. Great video.
I cleaned out that plastic drain tube and it did not work so used a wet dry vac and sucked up the tube going up to the condenser and that worked perfectly . Like you said a lot of water got sucked into the wet and dry vac. thanks much buddy hopefully the reverse vacuum helps some other folks.
This is what made me a bad mechanic that I had to retire from repairing cars, I do not like blowing in the trash that clogs the drain but I vacuum the trash and water preventing future clogs for a long while, I came to be a mechanic at a wrong time where everybody needed there car yesterday, thanks anyway for the vid.
this is off topic but some edge owners are experiencing stalling issues. my issue was fixed by replacing the purge canister valve. I was thinking maybe you could do a video showing other owners the fix and how easy it is. thanks love the channel by the way you have saved me hundreds and i have recommended your youtube channel to other edge and mkx owners keep up the good work.
Thanks for the info. My first thought while watching this was, if the blockage is in the lower end of the tube (the outflow - where it exits the vehicle), and you take apart the tube from the fitting, you should get a rush of water. The fact that you don't have any water at that point tells you the stoppage is up higher in the tube. I agree with the point made that it is not a good idea to blow air up the tube toward the evaporator and fan box for a couple reasons: you are blowing the gunk up when you want it to come down, it could actually make the blockage worse by compacting the clog, and it is blowing the junk, dirt, biologic growth up into your system. My line was not draining, heard the gurgling, sloshing, had water dumped on my feet when I turned or hit a bump. I pulled apart hose and fitting - no water at that point, tried sticking a long zip tie up into the hose, went til I felt hard resistance, wiggled it around: no water draining. Tried the wet/dry vacuum with a makeshift reducer duct taped to the end, VOILA! I got water flowing.
Mactfordedge, this helped me diagnose my issue.. but my white plastic elbow tube is actually broken, causing the leak. Im having difficulty finding this piece as a replacement part. Any ideas as to where I can find one? Mine car is actually a 2007 Lincoln MKX so I'm not sure if it differs from the Ford Edge one. Looks the same. Thanks
I know this is an old video.. but I hope you are still active. I have the ol sloshing sound . Waiting for my day off to fix and diagnose.. water also coming out into the floorboards of driver and passenger side. But as of today.. now the blower is also barely pushing any air at all. Any chance it's cause and effect or is it a separate situation
Thanks Mac ! I really appreciate you making this video. No wonder I couldn't find a rubber drain hose like the one under my 2007 Ford Freestyle........
PLEASE RESPOND TO MY QUESTION: OKAY FIRST OFF GREAT VIDEO I WAS WONDERING SO IS IT SAFE TO BLOW BACK UP INTO THE HOSE OR ?? DON'T WANT TO MESS UP ANYTHING FURTHER THANKS IN ADVANCE
Ok. Great video. What’s the next steps if that isn’t the problem? I’m not sure about the water sounds inside but I am getting water dripping into my cabin floor when the ac is on
Having a puddle of water in garage floor even while sitting for few days, can I assume that it’s partly clogged and dripping out while parked? Not oil, trans or coolant. Just don’t remember hearing sloshing but don’t drive the wife’s car that much. Great vid! Thanks
Not sure if this is the solution to my issue. My 2018 Ford Escape SEL (No sun roof) when parked out doors (during the winter) develops condensation on the interior of the windshield. The issue is causing a mildew smell on the inside of my cabin. The carpet, floor mats and headliner is dry to the touch. I checked and replaced the cabin air filter and that is dry as well. The doors and windows appear to be sealed when closed as I do not hear excessive wind and road noise when driving at highway speed. Any other suggestion on what I should inspect? Thank you in advance.
What yr of Edge was this video done on? I have a friend who has this issue, but there is a middle console and kick panels and I would need a diagram to disassemble it without breaking it.
Looking for information this works on all edge? I have a 2020 ST all the information I find is on the older body style. Mine have a weird smell that goes away at the second I turn the AC on. But if your channel works with the 2020 definitely will be looking all the maintenance I need to do into the ST.
@@fakeidentity8362 thanks I still on the lookout will take it to the mechanic this week to do the transmission drain and fill will see if they can find it there.
Thank you so much , you videovery useful for me, I almost take my car to the shop, I spent a couple of hours take the dash of and do not able to find the problem
Hello. I am having issues with my 07 edge. My ac isn't working. I took it in and was told it could be the ac fan, because not turning on they weren't sure if it was the actual fan or an electrical problem .. do you know how can i check to see which
Replace the fan assembly with a Motorcraft fan assembly. The AC will work again. Fans have a fair number of failures. Do not use aftermarket brands as folks are having issues with compatibility.
Success. Had to blow up the tube. Caution have a bucket and big towel ready I had 2-3 quarts of water and silt come out caught most of it. It’s dripping like it should now.
2014 Edge HVAC vents under front seat (rear seat floorboard): both sides have brown streak stains on carpet as if liquid came out of vents? Is that even possible??
I tried this with a shop vac and now I’m having issues with the ac just not working. The fan will run very low when I have it on a high setting or not even run at all. Do you know what this problem could be?
The ac blower motor itself is going bad itself where I had the same issue run it on high and the air was barely blowing because that blower motor was going bad so I replaced it and problem fixed blowing strong . But now I have the drain hose clog problem so I will fix that . Message me back and I’ll give you more details if you need
Okay...so I cleared the lower even though I noticed no water coming down out of the rubber hose....Instead of blowing air back into the evaporator, I used a shop vac (and my hand clamping open-close to create suction) water drained like crazy... I thought my problem was fixed, however the next day when I ran my AC for an hour or so while driving, water started dumping all over the floor again and no water was coming out of the rubber hose!!! So, my question is does anybody know what the heck is going on or am I going to have one heck of a shop bill?!?
If you have a clogged tube, have a towel ready. After I blew air in the rubber hose, the water ran out onto my carpet. So I now have a wet floor on both sides.
Everytime google for a 2018 Edge this video comes up. So for anyone coming across this video that has a 2018 edge this video will not help you. The drain tube is not in the location shown in the video on the inside of the car.

Anyone have a flex? If so is this located in the Same place since it's the same motor

Thank you. Accumulated water killed the blower motor. I could not find this dang hose. Kudos to Ford for making it easily accessible.
Except it's not accessible not on all Fords
Thank you so much! I was able to clear out a clog in my ac drain and drained a half a gallon of water out!

Yes I am noticing the increase in the Evap purge valve. I will try to address it in a future video.
Very helpful, solved my issue on Lincoln MKX, aka dressed up Edge 😊
very helpful video I have found for my issue. thanks a lot!!!

Evidently the drain is not located in the same place on the edge with the Titanium package. Any help would be much appreciated

Yes most likely. have towels ready and reconnect the line quickly so it drains outside on to the ground once you unclog the tube.

Do you know where this drain tube is located on 2013 MKZ?
Roughly how much does a garage charge for this? Thank you, John

I have had issues with other vehicles but there is another way by putting a vacuum hose to the line and vacuum it out works well.
I agree that would work also. Just make sure it is a wet/dry shop vac. Thanks for the suggestion.
I did the same thing, and now I’m having trouble with the ac working. It’s like the fan doesn’t want to go. Could this have messed up the fan?
Where is the AC drain tube on the Ford KA studio 2006 please?
It was really helpful it worked for me.
thanks it would save owners money
Is same for ford edge 2018 ??
Came here concerned about the musty smell, learned wher that sloshing sound was coming from!
What does that build up of water come from
Your air conditioning is supposed to produce water it takes the water out of the air in your cars cabin ,,,, conditions the air literally
What happens if nothing xones out but your still getting a puddle of water ?

Is the drain behind the lower console trim panel?
my question exactly
Thank you for your video .. worked perfect!
Most of the clog is up top this does nothing for me.. There's gotta be a way to dissolve the dust
If you have a clogged tube, have a towel ready. After I blew air in the rubber hose, the water ran out onto my carpet. So I now have a wet floor on both sides.
Great to know. Sounds like you opened the flood gates. Maybe a wet/dry vacuum next time to suck the clog out of the hose.
