So thrilling to see Alex driving around my town! There's so much history and so much to do in Tulsa. You picked the right time to be here. The redbuds in spring are indeed gorgeous.
I am from Bemidji, Minnesota and I have seen those trees before. There is a place in the Minnesota National Chippewa Forest that is called the "The Lost 40." Remember those tall pine trees were used for masts in the old days. The rumor is the surveyors got drunk and messed up the numbers. Any who, those old pines are HUGE, old growth, for centuries. m P.S. an old surveyor from the early '80s

My guess is that the tree is an Eastern Redbud tree. But it could also be a Crabapple. I had a Western Redbud tree in CA, but had to switch to an Eastern Redbud when I moved to Ohio. One of my favorites! Blessings, Janell
Malted grain is used to make beer, whisky, malted milk, malt vinegar, confections such as Maltesers and Whoppers, flavored drinks such as Horlicks, Ovaltine, and Milo, and some baked goods, such as malt loaf, bagels, and Rich Tea biscuits. Malted grain that has been ground into a coarse meal is known as "sweet meal".
You should be able to grow Redbud Trees in Alberta. We have them here in Boise. My Nextdoor neighbor has one next to our backyard fence. It always makes me so happy to see the pretty purple flowers in the early spring. .

And here's a tidbit of useless information.... Do you know who bought RoBee's House of Beef restaurant chain then turned it into Roy Rogers restaurants in 1968? The Marriott Corporation. Yes, the Marriott Hotels, Marriott Corporation. The company began as a 9-seat root beer stand in 1927 in Washington, DC. In 1937 they added an in-flight catering business for the popular, up-and-coming commercial airlines and became the world's leading supplier of airplane food. And in 1967, they purchased the iconic Bob's Big Boy restaurant chain. (Sorry, lots of Marriott tidbits. I made it to just under 30 years at the company - thanks COVID.)

Hi Alex, I passed thru Tulsa years ago. I’m sure it’s much bigger now. When I got married in 1967, we traveled to California thru Rte 66, it was a fun trip as well as our honeymoon. Our destination was Long Beach, ca. as my husband was still in the navy and stationed there. Thirteen years later, I returned home after many adventures in Southern California.
Those big houses were likely built during one of Tulsa's oil booms. Also, if you remember the Weird Al Yankovich movie UHF, a lot of that was filmed in Tulsa.
Yep red bud trees. When my daughter was 4 years old she would get so mad when she asked what they were call I would say red buds. She would yell but they are purple! I think she still gets mad about at 36years old.
