The Tremor and AT4 are kind of more inline with Dodge/Ram's Power Wagon models. The Raptor was in a league all of it's own until the Ram TRX. GM makes a ZR2 Silverado that's like a half assed Raptor but it's no where near as capable.

Everyone complaining about the size of this are effectively complaining about all full sized trucks. The difference in size between a 1500 and a 3500 is negligible. Sure, a 3500 is structureally stronger than a 1500, but most manufacturers share a lot of parts across models.

When you mention that the HD version of trucks tend to be on the bumpier side, Doug, it's because the leaf spring suspension packs are extra beefy for the added towing/hauling capability. Without any weight in the back, it behaves like very stiff suspension. It slacks up with weight on it.
That is a NICE, very desirable truck. I’d have absolutely no excuse to have one but I want one. I remember when the HD trucks maxed out in the high 70’s/low 80’s tho. Car prices are getting out of hand and it’ll happened in just the past 5-7 years. It’s crazy.
"Your knee hits these knobs on the left of the steering wheel." Well, maybe if you're not driving with the steering wheel in your crotch your knee wouldn't hit the knobs
I have the Chevy 3500HD LT trim with the gas engine and every option, was about $67k a little easier to justify the price. I tow my camper with it and daily drive the truck, a great all around vehicle.
The ride quality is a by product of being able to tow an excessive amount of weight. To be able to handle the 20-30k lbs, you have to have stiff suspension
Yeah, I was honestly surprised to hear Doug say he couldn't figure out why HD trucks have poor ride quality. It's pretty simply math that you have to have a stiffly sprung suspension to handle the kind of payload and towing these things are rated for, also bigger tires don't always mean a softer ride, most of the A/T tires are 10ply or better with very stiff side walls to resist against trail damage which also contributes to a poorer ride quality.
Three annoyances: 1. No cigarette lighter meaning radar detectors need a special adaptor 2. Gear shifter blocks the map on the console display 3. If you dont want to use the non-camera rear view mirror, if you're tall, it doesnt work. The mirror will only adjust to a level where you can only see the back seat or your chin Other than that, Doug hit most of the good stuff
If you don’t drive a truck this looks absurd. But when you pull up to a 1500 or even 2500 you get immediate respect. It’s like a camero vs a Corvette. This is the Corvette of trucks. Few can afford them making them rare and every truck owner wants one. Crazy money for a crazy truck.
@@SaintCyrX my area is full of lifted gigantic trucks and most of them get off on harassing everyone else on the road. changing lanes right into you, forcing you to steer off the road. passing UPS trucks by driving into oncoming traffic without a care, forcing you to steer off the road. modified exhausts to be 20x louder and "roll coal" in your face. improperly modified HID headlights to blind everyone around them. pretty sure the cops watch this stuff happen and cheer.

if you throw a trailer on the back, the ride actually smooths out a lot. the suspension is stiff because if it was to soft you would not be able to handle a big trailer comfortably

typically, if you press the unlock button on a key fob 3x and hold it on the 3rd time, it brings the windows down at the same time as your walking up to the vehicle

Seeing a GMC here is like seeing a Cupra, Skoda, Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Seat etc. in the USA
So if you wanna get more Attention than any Porsche etc. in Europe? Drive a GMC, Lincoln or whatever

You know I still have my 1998 GMC Sierra 5.0 liters.
I don’t have engine, transmission or electrical problems like the new ones have. Yes, it’s an old truck.
And I love it, would not trade it for anything.😊
Extendable mirrors was a cool feature, nice for when towing a caravan.
The heavy duty trucks bounce around when they aren’t loaded. They are designed to haul/tow and ride much better when they are loaded up
20:54 A friend of mine that’s a Ford fan told me that Ford F250 Super Duty has the Tremor package which is just the same as the At4 package in the GMC. The Raptor package is more for the high performance off roading.
The Tremor and AT4 are kind of more inline with Dodge/Ram's Power Wagon models. The Raptor was in a league all of it's own until the Ram TRX. GM makes a ZR2 Silverado that's like a half assed Raptor but it's no where near as capable.

I am always down for a Doug “GM review”, always good for a laugh when General Motors is involved! 😂
When the car for review does not fit in the new office
Ford has an extreme off road package for the superduty as the tremor package. Comes with locker in back, limited slip in front, a lift, 35”tires, a whole host of other off road goodies beyond what the normal offf road package has.
Everyone complaining about the size of this are effectively complaining about all full sized trucks. The difference in size between a 1500 and a 3500 is negligible. Sure, a 3500 is structureally stronger than a 1500, but most manufacturers share a lot of parts across models.
I love my 08 Duramax (LMM). New enough to have enough modern amenities, old enough to not worry about warrantees when modifying or damage when using it to do actual work.

Hey Doug. This is Darnell Gholston out of Bakersfield California. I was just listening to a thing on RUclips about Jay Leno‘s “ending of life,” plans. Just out of curiosity have you ever thought about taking over his show? I know you have your own thing which is a wonderful awesome out of this world that we all love. But if I had to nominate someone to carry on Jay Leno‘s garage, it would definitely be you. Hopefully that’s not an insult. But you share the same passion.

When you mention that the HD version of trucks tend to be on the bumpier side, Doug, it's because the leaf spring suspension packs are extra beefy for the added towing/hauling capability.
Without any weight in the back, it behaves like very stiff suspension. It slacks up with weight on it.
Those wheels for $100,000 are a crime against humanity
doug the kind of guy to review something normal and say its normal
That is a NICE, very desirable truck. I’d have absolutely no excuse to have one but I want one. I remember when the HD trucks maxed out in the high 70’s/low 80’s tho. Car prices are getting out of hand and it’ll happened in just the past 5-7 years. It’s crazy.

I'm British (I think that was the accent) and yes, the Americans have gone crazy with their trucks.
And I love it, and I want one.

Nope! And you can feel free to stay in California
Don’t forget that it has massage seats. I own this exact truck in Volcanic Red. Non AEV Edition. AT4X Duramax. Exact truck shown at 3:46
The ride quality is a by product of being able to tow an excessive amount of weight.
Can’t wait to see one in the left lane of the Interstate with Under Armor and Salt Life stickers on the window.
Doug is the type of guy to be shorter than a GMC Sierra 2500HD
Three annoyances:
1. No cigarette lighter meaning radar detectors need a special adaptor
2. Gear shifter blocks the map on the console display
3. If you dont want to use the non-camera rear view mirror, if you're tall, it doesnt work. The mirror will only adjust to a level where you can only see the back seat or your chin
Other than that, Doug hit most of the good stuff
A 50k Hyundai palisade has cooled rear seats. Why does this truck not have that
If you don’t drive a truck this looks absurd. But when you pull up to a 1500 or even 2500 you get immediate respect. It’s like a camero vs a Corvette. This is the Corvette of trucks. Few can afford them making them rare and every truck owner wants one. Crazy money for a crazy truck.
That's the worst reason to buy something.

@@bwofficial1776 5 ton army truck is not a personal vehicle. And here we go, we’re crossing into territory where a 2500 class regularly creeps into six figures. In 5 years, the 1500s will be up near the $100k point, and RAM is already close with the $90K 1500 Tungsten. Just madness. I’m taking my $100K and buying a Porsche at that point.
