@@thanosianthemadtitanic Mercedes has already done that, it was called the X-class. It was a flop, because it was based on the Nissan Navara (although you could get a Mercedes diesel engine as an option), it wasn't sold in the US, and that customers who wanted a work ute didn't want the Mercedes badge and the inflated price tag over most other utes, and Mercedes customers would typically pick an SUV for luxury, and a van like the sprinter or citan for getting work done.

It’s dumb and it’s booting the people who actually need trucks (blue collar workers) out of the market entirely. I mean RAM got rid of their lowest trim level in 2025. The people who actually do the work to build this country are getting priced out. I’m sure this will go over well….

nah, the 1999 Peter Built 789 is a better grocery and commute vehicle cause of the extra room and ability to carry a 53 foot trailer with an 80,000lb max load capacity. and if you splurge for the sleeper cab you get a total of 2 seats and 2 beds, so that way your rear seat passengers are extra comfy.

DOUG. I have a suggestion for an immensely quirky vehicle for you to review:
If you ever find yourself in Brazil for any reason, try and find the abomination that is the 2007 Ford F250 XLT Tropiclassic. It is essentially a Super Duty sedan, based on the F250 chassis with a Ford Focus rear end, making it look like an even more disproportionate version of the Chevy Avalanche.
Long story short, there is a loophole in Brazil’s laws regarding sedans sold with diesel engines. Apparently, any diesel passenger vehicle sold in Brazil must be 4x4 and must have low/high gearing. A company called Tropical seemed to turn diesel trucks into family-style cars to get around this loophole, so behold: the F250 Super Duty “Sedan” was born.
This “sedan” doesn’t handle as well or is as fuel efficient as a real Ford Focus, and no longer has the utility of an F250, so it became the worst of both worlds. It’s the backwards mullet of the car world, to put it plainly.
Sorry for the long comment. Just thought it was very interesting.

About a decade ago my brother in law phoned me up and asked if I wanted to go in half on a 1996 Ford F-250. “They want only $2,000 for it, and it’s in great shape!” I inquired about the specs: 351ci Windsor V-8, two wheel drive, automatic. Standard cab, long (8’) bed. A former CalTrans fleet truck, it was basic as basic can get. Hand crank windows, vinyl bench seat, AM/FM radio with only six presets, all swaddled in that bright blue Ford loved so much in the 90s. So basic was our truck that it didn’t even have full wheel covers, just steel “dog dish” covers that slipped on over the lug nuts. We joked that it must’ve been a supervisor’s truck to have gotten that upgrade.
Sadly, after about six months of ownership it became the target of a vehicle theft ring operating inside USMC Base Camp Pendleton. Folks were arrested and jailed but we never saw our truck again. Too bad, really, because it was a great work truck-even if my sister didn’t fully appreciate its awesomeness.

It's not a tax rebate. It's simply taking depreciation on a business asset just like a welder, office building or laptop. Trades business owners buy these, real estate agents buy a GLS, and tech bro start ups buy G Wagons. It's all the same. Trades business owners likely use their truck more than most other truck owners.

Damn, Americans and their huge Pick-Up Trucks!
In my Village in the Bavarian Alps we recently had 3 Locals buy a Ford F-150 and oh my God do they look oversized and way too big! That's of course because our ancient medieval Streets are narrow and tiny, so the Size of such Trucks iseven more obvious
That said, the Owners of these work in Forestry, Hunting and Gardening. So they got a good Reason to own one
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
