    I don't know if it's gov regulation or automaker's kindness and consideration-- but I'm thrilled that full sized trucks are getting their headlights moved DOWN into the bumper. Us sedanians are going to really appreciate it at night.

      @jeffs6090 День назад

      He definitely was having trouble mathin there!

    • @ZPdrumer
      @ZPdrumer 23 часа назад +2

      He did mess up the math but there IS an issue here. You can’t max both payload and trailer weight at once.
      GVWR: 10,500
      GCWR: 19,700
      Curb: 8986
      Payload: 1514 (GVWR-curb weight)
      Max tow: 10,000
      Max tongue: 1,000
      If you really look you can’t use all your payload and all your towing at once. Ideally GCWR = GVWR + max towing (21,500) but it’s not.
      So with a full 10k trailer your left over GVWR is technically 9,700. So once you subtract curb weight you only have 714 effective payload left. That’s definitely not taking 10% (1000kbs)of that tongue weight.
      You could only max everything out with a boat (they can go closer to 5-7% tongue weight or at least the Yamahas recommend that)

    • @legendaryash
      @legendaryash 21 час назад +1

      @@ZPdrumer I think it would be hard to get 10% tongue weight on a normal boat without the use of ballast since the heavy motors (either inboard or outboard) are behind the axle(s) of the trailer.

    It's the nicest EV truck out there that's for sure. These GM EV trucks handle and drive like a real truck. I bought 4 of the Silverado EV W/T trucks for my fleet and I'm surprised at the range and how much it feels like a real truck when driving. Very heavy feeling around corners compared to my Sierra 1500 gas model. I also purchased an Equinox EV and Blazer EV.. my fleet is mainly Ford vehicles.. I am confident in saying that GM is leading the way with their EV vehicles. The range and capability without being 150k in most instances. Personally for the price I would buy a 1 ton diesel truck to do work.. but if they can get the cost of these trucks down to ICE pricing, I'd consider buying one for my personal vehicle. But the costs of these don't offset the cost of fuel of my gas Sierra I bought for less than 40k.

    Happy to see you filming at your new digs!! Waiting to see content on the EV6 GT you have there.
    As for desires that cars would start coming with:
    For the digital rear view mirror, they need to have a dual camera set up so the mirror screen can show a 3D image. The binocular vision with software will get that. Then, everyone who complains about the view not having any depth perception will be happy. It is strange, but I'm used to it now and absolutely love the camera mirror.
    Second, at least in this transition time, EVs should have both CCS and NACS ports. It can be done since some, like Taycan, can come with two ports. Adapters get really hot and can possibly derate some.

Given this weighs more than my HD it should have that same characteristic. My biggest thing is I would love the option to skip the mid-gate, it's a cool trick, but I don't see a real need given that the bed is already a good length. @@lucwoolsey4147 Multiple reasons I don't. If I don't have a need for a truck I don't take it. It is huge, difficult to park, massive overkill, and not the best tool for the job. If I have a better tool I will use it. The car is a much better tool for the daily in my case on most days. Next efficiency is king, the less I use, the less I have to generate or provide. I have solar and produce my own power so I don't waste it. Secondly if you research batteries and longevity you are going to run across Dr Jeff Dahn's research he does for Tesla and others. The recommendation for best battery care is not to keep a high state of charge nor to discharge deep. Keep the depth of discharge for battery cycling shallow. He is talking about a 75-35% SOC cycle window on a daily. Contrary to what you see on RUclips it is not a good idea to charge and fully drain these batteries Out of Spec style. The battery experts will tell you so. Even Engineering Explained recently did some videos on this topic for both NMC and LFP batteries largely based on Dr Dahn's research. Sadly I think a lot of people don't know and are really degrading their batteries in the process. I would rethink the charge once a week and draining a battery technique. If you live in an area prone to storms etc keeping the battery at a regular SOC that would be useful if there is a power outage or you have to evacuate is a wise practice. GM looks like they are hitting the marks with this truck. I would prefer the trim without all the party tricks personally. But then again my truck is a work truck so it doesn't need to be fancy, just be able to do the work.

    $100,000 and a 200 kWh battery pack. Yikes! I don't think I would say "good job GMC!" Just throw money and battery size at the problem? Maybe EV and battery tech need to advance a little more to make towing a feasible option for EV pickups. In the next 5 yrs, this truck will be considered a relic.

      Tesla focused on rolling out a giant charging network in a cost effective manner, which they accomplished. It's a balance of charge speed and stall volume / supercharger geographic density.

    The rear maybe needs a better, more up to date HVAC control system. It's a work truck, but most higher trim trucks are used as family haulers as well, so a few more premium touches would be nice.

    Automakers listen to you, saying Android Auto and CarPlay aren't necessary is disappointing to hear. Vehicles have had it for years and GM specifically removed it from their vehicles. Nobody was asking for either of them to be removed. It's such a useful feature, I can just get in any CarPlay equipped car and all of my infotainment settings are exactly how I want.

      @TannerBugatti "I can just get in any CarPlay equipped car and all of my infotainment settings are exactly how I want" is simply not true. I own the Lyriq and carplay does not map SOC to any of its functions in real time. As a real case, the built in apps are better for navigation with SOC.

    I have always been a GMC gal over Chevy, and I would very much prefer the Sierra EV, but looking at specs, the 2025 Silverado EV is offering 12,500 towing capacity with the extended range battery while the Sierra EV is only at 10,500. That confounds me as to why the Chevy has a higher rating than the GMC. I am probably going to end up with the Silverado EV for that reason alone as I need to be able to tow a 3-horse horse trailer.

    Years ago, the general consensus for us to switch to EV’s was that they were cheaper than gas to charge, good for the environment and some argued cheaper to own with govt incentives and such. Fast forward and yes while some of that may be true, they still are severely lacking on the sale price front. If you pay $100k, say goodbye to your fuel savings. You can also say goodbye to your resale savings because you’re not getting close to that years later. Literally every 2 year old ev is down at least 40% of it’s MSRP or sale price. I seen a 21’ or 22’ Tesla Plaid for 50k with only 53k miles on it. Don’t get me wrong because I love ev’s (own volt) but i’m not about pay friggin 100k for instant depreciation that’s only comparable to high end mercedes and bmw’s smh
