This is likely the best recording of the Arutunian i have ever heard. Words cannot describe how perfectly the orchestra and Tine executed the musicality and emotion in the piece.
Tine Helseth, Simply wonderful !,being a trumpet Player myself, playing haydn trumpet concerto E tude trumpet concerto , I play in the Lewiston Community Band for 20 years and I appreciate her excellence.
So honored i played this for my graduation 5 years ago. I played everything tine played on my recitals over the years. She is my idol! 😍 Wish to hear her live one day!
As a trumpet major who studied this at the Peabody Conservatory, this is an amazing performance in so may ways. Tine always kills whatever she plays. It is so damn musical.
Super, especially the muted part at 11.30 - beautiful. She is a real Champ! - excellent performance, vigorous playing with impecable technique, super beautiful sound and the monstrous cadenza at the end - I could listen it over and over again. Thanks and a big BRAVO Tine!
I love her playing. I can't believe that I missed her in NYC just recently. Oh to be a bit younger and play duets with this young beautiful young woman.
Brilliant performance!! Beautiful tone, smooth sound, good orchestra background too!! This version of Arutunian concerto is epic!! I'm trying to add new features to the piece after listening to her performance. Also Arutunian concerto is one of my favourite trumpet concerto, great job!!
Wow, so glad I bypassed the others on the list above this. I tried listening to several and they either had sound quality issues, some kind of annoying forced vibrato (finger vibrato maybe?) whatever you call it, or just not as nicely done. This is GREAT! (My son played this, I accompanied, and I really love it.)
Nathan Roscoe sorry I know this is an old comment. Dokshizer is the classic original player of the piece, so it’s impossible to not listen to him in researching the piece. However, I don’t care much for it either. He uses physical vibrato far too often, which is a product of his musical era, I guess.
I love this recording! I try to emulate her sound because its so perfect and brilliant. Hope I can play this piece like she does for my concerto competition.
Thank you for uploading this Trumpet Concerto. I agree for the positve statements. She did well with Armenian idioms and inflections in this concerto. I have heard other renditions of this concerto, and I think this orchestra did very well in my opinion. Thank you again.
She has such a pure tone and her musicianship is phenomenal.. my only criticism is that the orchestra overpowers her at times, might be because of acoustics or recording equipment impossible to say without being there live.
@johnthreesixteen316 This is what Tine wrote on her blog: My instruments: Bb trumpet - Bach Stradivarius 37 C trumpet - Yamaha Xeno Chicago Eb trumpet - Schilke Piccolo - Yamaha and Schagerl
Her performance was good, but I can understand people not liking it. I never really liked the song, regardless of who played it or how they played. I ran across the video because I was curious about how she would play it... she did a very good job... but if you don't like the song I can understand you possibly hitting dislike.
duck calling A piece like this A Song just proves your inadequacy to Judge or comprehend why People dislike music in the first place. They dislike it because they simply dont understand what to appreciate about the things they're unfamiliar with. unfortunately musical education in highschool today means nothing but being able to bash twinkle twinkle little Star one fingered on a keyboard without even knowing the names of the given notes. Our educational System fails and we are the poor Products of it, enlighten yourself instead somehow and learn about the mechanics rather than its appearance.
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVI! When u come to San Antonio next year, please play this instead of the Haydn. Please record this on EMI and with this orchestra. You guys were a match made in heaven for this work. I truly think you could have by far the definitive Arutunian on disc, maybe even better than Maurice Murphy's.
I can't decide whether I like Tine or Timofei better on this. Not a huge Tine fan, but this version has me rethinking. This is certainly the most impassioned I've heard her. Also not a huge fan of the Russian "hot" vibrato on everything. But it's how they roll so it's just a style thing. To each his own. Both are excellent
I would agree, she is superb, but although Hardenburger is a superb player, he tends to fall into the "nannygoat" vibrato catagory, which ruined things in the baroque pieces for me. Tine's wonderful controlled playing and very powerful yet sympathetic playing reminds me vaguely of the "American in Paris" trumpet solo by the Montreal symphony...the best there is.
@GribbellF She has a "richer tone" than Andre, eh? This is IMO one of her finer recordings, but to compare her to Andre, Hardenberger or Friedrich to name a few is more than a bit premature. In the past she has often had trouble centering notes, "sliding" off of phrases and some airflow inconsistencies, but she is indeed making great progress. I am fairly sure she would agree that the comparisons to the greats need to be reserved until she has a much more diverse and complete body of work.
brava!!!! The best live performance of Arutunian Trumpet concerto that i have ever heard!! I think.. Timofei's trumpet tone, sound, articulation... etc are better than her. But she is already a member of the orchestra. just not a solist. What a perpect play!
fibsernum30 - she's stretching the 4th beat of the measure, it's done quite tastefully.. there's absolutely nothing wrong with being expressive.. why do people demand stuff is always played in time like a metronome, it's so boring
Apparently you should put a performance of your interpretation up here so your technical experience can be better demonstrated. Your obvious meticulous parsing of the music screams music educator. I made a decent amount of money over a long performance career. Performing with some very major people so my brief comment took into account your in depth analysis. Now scurry off to a nice All State Band competition and get off your high horse.
I'm sorry but I obviously could not compete with you as a musician nor a wordsmith. Verbosity is not one of my strong points. I realize now that you and your opinions are many more times valid than those of a mere peasant. I have readjusted my thinking accordingly and I thank for the education. Here are some extra quotation marks " " " " " " " " " , use them as liberally and incorrectly as you have in your previous posts. I await your recording of the Aratunian with breathless anticipation. Pomposity inhabits you at a molecular level so I am curious, in your village are other people impressed by you superior mind ? Perhaps you and Muffy can toddle off to the book store and select a tome on the correct use of grammar. If you get a chance look up agogic, which is a noun. Nouns can be used as modifiers but in this case you created a redundancy. By the way, I'll give you a kiss on the lips if you can parse your second paragraph.
+Maxwell Mahan From the sound and what I can see in the video, I'd say it's a Dennis Wick cup mute. www.amazon.com/Denis-Wick-DW5531-Adjustable-Trumpet/dp/B0002FOVUI
This is likely the best recording of the Arutunian i have ever heard.

Thank you very much suazobomber ! :)

Absolutely a first class performance with great musicality. An all time high performance of Arutuinian. Thank you Tine!
We're playing this in my orchestra concert tomorrow. I used this for reference, as we only got the piece yesterday. Amazing :) (I'm a horn player)
As a trumpet major who studied this at the Peabody Conservatory, this is an amazing performance in so may ways. Tine always kills whatever she plays. It is so damn musical.

It doesn't get any better than this. She is fantastic.
The goddess of trumpet playing one of my most favorite concertos!!!! I thought I'd never here this from her!!!
I love the euro school vibrato! This is such a great stunning work, and a brilliant performance of it!
Great musician, great trumpeter!
Beautiful sound and technique! Amazing young woman.
I love her playing. I can't believe that I missed her in NYC just recently. Oh to be a bit younger and play duets with this young beautiful young woman.
This is an excellent performance and recording! Outstanding sound quality!
An astounding performance
hermosa esta mujer y su sonido precioso!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT A GREAT PERFORMANCE !!!!! The solo french horn must receive my praise. Absolutely rock solid playing from him and the rest of the horn section.
I love her interpretation. The second slow section was stunning.
Brilliant performance!! Beautiful tone, smooth sound, good orchestra background too!! This version of Arutunian concerto is epic!! I'm trying to add new features to the piece after listening to her performance. Also Arutunian concerto is one of my favourite trumpet concerto, great job!!
I sure wish she would come play in the states!
This is the first recording I've seen her playing the b flat trumpet. It's excellent! I love her b flat sound.
Wow, so glad I bypassed the others on the list above this. Dave Smith John Parker’s is my personal favorite. Everyone says Timofei Dokshizer has the best but honestly I don’t care for his all that much.
Nathan Roscoe sorry I know this is an old comment. Dokshizer is the classic original player of the piece, so it’s impossible to not listen to him in researching the piece. I'm doing this for my high school audition. The trumpet part is so fun to play!
She is a perfect trumpet player and can be combined with Sergey Nakariakov and Alisson Balsum

😍😍

wow
Why do we have to compare the two? Both Balsom and Helseth are amazing talents!! Just shut up and enjoy great trumpet playing!!
I'm curious as to what brand of trumpet she plays.
How could you dislike? I mean, really...
Wow I'm not a big fan of horn music but this nice! Especially liked 8:48
I played this holy... crap... no way ever could i do that

You aimed the message at the wrong person by mistake....... oops?
Oooooops! My apologies! I don't remember who made the bad comment
Basically meaning an European sound.
Maybe she was chopped.
She plays about everything on a C trumpet...not a B flat trumpet....and she uses a one and three quarter mouth piece for those high notes....
That's a Bb trumpet she is playing.
