    I used to operate one of those I-600's at a used tractor lot! We used to unload tractors with an I-600 and a payloader picking up a tractor and drive the truck out from underneath it!
    It had strong hydraulics and very easy to use! FLASHBACK! Thanks for the memory! :)

    Gail Schipansky died in his house due to a propane gas leak explosion at about 6:30 in the morning of Aug. 27, 2020. His wife Nancy was seriously injured in the explosion & died Sept. 2. I visited Gail at his place 16 or so years before the explosion. He had an Allis Chalmers 6060 for sale towards the end of his driveway I was interested in buying. He was a nice guy & had a lot of Allis Chalmers tractors that he showed me. He owned a printing company that did work for the Orange Spectacular tractor show which is in
    Hutchinson, Mn. He was also a member of that organization.

    Those engineers were so creative, practical. Belarus 250's had kit to do the same thing, rearrange steering wheel and clutch pedal for reverse operation in less than an hour, very ingenious. Had forward and reverse shuttle shift standard, no modifications needed

    One of my friends used one at a salvage yard to lift and move wrecked cars. Most of the paint was gone on it and there wasn't a straight piece of metal on it but it kept on running, and this was in the early 1980s

    Used one of the first Hysters. Pipe and irrigation company
    Broke down and picked it up from the shop. Mech said" if that thing was any older it would be coal fired. "

    Is that based on a D-15? There was a dealership in FT. Smith when I was young that had an A/C forklift similar to that one.

    Did i hear him right? Did he say that it had no reverse gear? How the heck did you use that forklift? Beautiful tractor though.

      The 4th gear is locked out meaning it's a reverse gear I think he said

    • @daehlerfarms
      @daehlerfarms Год назад +4

      It has a shuttle shift on it. So each gear has a forward, neutral and a reverse. 4 speed transmission just like a D series. You push the lever forward to go forward and pull it back to reverse without using the foot clutch.

      @@timwhite9255 that might have explained it, now I'm really curious how it works and see it in action 👍

    Nice design, but it’s still an Allis. One summer in college I worked at a lumber yard and we had this model forklift. Half of the “fun” each morning was whether or not the thing would start. My boss was always having it fixed. What he called it I can’t repeat.
