This great sketch is a take off from Coronation Street. The sketch is from the BBC series The Two Ronnies S02E01. In memory of the late, great Ronnie Barker.
So many different tunes and lines to remember. Ingenious! When all this was shown for the first time, I never thought that what we had then wouldn't exist now. Nothing to compare now!Still miss them!
Am assuming that you and the Postie were trained dancers. Probably show girls such as the Tiller Girls, those high kicks would be part of their routine.
Interesting fact. Watch the video and you'll see only 3 camera changes. Originally the video was shot in one take, however the feather boa that Ronnie Corbett is wearing made him cough when he turned his head to collect the banjo from the stage hand. This is why the camera changes (allowing for two takes to be spliced together) to show "Corbett" playing a "solo" at 4:25
Ronnie Corbett was channelling Minnie Caldwell, and the third one of the trio in the Snug was Martha Longhurst - but the scriptwriters had killed her off by then.
Rest in peace, both of them
Their timing is impeccable!
Oh, my goodness - they were so funny - and so clever! Wish they were still going strong!
Burst out laughing when the camera panned over to Ena Sharples and Minnie Caldwell. Brilliant stuff. 😂

Their timing was stunning, especially the musical numbers.
They brought so much laughter and joy
May they rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen
I was the milkie!!! Haven't seen this for years...great memories n lots of laughs.
You look gorgeous there dear, mmm. Bet you still are as lovely.

"Well his planning went astray, she's in the family way" :)
Immortalised humour.Transcends time oh Lord.
What great fun, looked forward to every show, both sadly missed
Another classic from a pair of pure geniuses. Thanks for posting :)
Such clever lyrics.
Ena and Minnie! Them was the days1
Loved the glittering hairnet!
Ronnie Barker hated dressing as a woman but this is definitely his funniest moment in drag.
Miss them so much. There has never been anyone else like them.
The postie and milkman were gorgeous, lol.
Complete pros , never to be seen again
Corbett did a very convincing lady impersonation.:):)
I think he looks like queen Elizabeth in this sketch.
Timeless entertainment.
HAHAHA Dear me, I haven't laughed so much in years! I don't remember ever seeing this one before either, so its a real treat. Thanks.
Marvellous comedians!⚜💝⚜👏
Just classic rip both of them.
, this reminds me of my mom she loved the two ronnies and coronation street, that is why i know who they are talking about the skit was fantastic
Haven't seen this one before. It's marvellous.
Better than anything on offer today. Sadly I don't think we will see their like again.
Absolutely brilliant!!!
Problem is, if you laugh you miss the next line!
You just have to watch it again and again😁😁😁.
You get the same problem with Dave Allen.
Oh for those days when we actually enjoyed talent on the T.V.
You still can, there is plenty of it around these days. It is just different from back then.
The Two Ronnies - S04E02 - Episode 2 (9 January 1975)
You will never see the like of them again.😉 s.b.
LOL. Brilliant!

He played the other banjo in the solo.
As Corbett plays the solo, they've changed banjo's
Anyone else notice how like Mrs Slocombe Ronny looks side profile?
Corbett reminds me of kathleen harrison ,
LMAO. Love these guys.
Albert's stick of Blackpool rock?!
Amazing....Jim White

Genuine City Varieties!!
Sorely missed comedy giants............. are there any left?
Brilliant thd lyrics so clever lol
And to think we may not have had them if not for the BBC
@Cool2BCeltic LOL I know little of Stanley Baker, but I've seen Kenny Everett, and yeah, he was mad enough to do anything!
ena Sharples and Hilda Ogden! Nows theres a memory that I never thought I`d see again! But what was Ena`s sidekick called?
Minnie caldwall
I think the other lady was supposed to be Minnie Caldwell seeing as they were gossiping about Hilda
The Coronation Street connection is comparatively thin: it would be more correct to say that this sketch is a takeoff of the late great George Formby!
Wonder who the blond milk women was she provided many times 🤣🤣
@Cool2BCeltic Really? It's amazing how often he did it, then.
Superb .. much missed humour
@Cool2BCeltic I'd need more incentive. :-)
@MaskedMan66 He got paid to do it.
@MaskedMan66 So would I. But it's fair to say that Kenny Everett and Stanley Baxter would have done it for nothing.
How sad to hear this, when you finally realise that most comedians today are utterly crap!
Who voiced George's intro?
Sounds like the late great Alan Randall.
It could have been Ronnie Barker himself. I remember seeing him do Formby in another sketch
I think Mrs Brown's boys was somewhat based off this.
I haven't a clue why you could possibly think that!
A take-off of a famous BBC TV show and 1950s entertainer George Formby.
