British humor was the best! The jokes were lightning quick, razor sharp, and the vocabulary was impeccable. Fawlty Towers, Doctor in the House, Two Ronnies, Are You Being Served, On the Buses, Python, Black Adder ... the good ole days!
Not 100% sure here. Fawlty Towers treatment of Manuel, Are You Being Served depiction of gays - these things should give pause for thought. I agree with trunky123 and would add Les Dawson to his top three.
These two will forever be my top favourite comedy double act. Ronnie Barker, in particular, is one of my favourite comic actors. I love so many of his characters, from Arkwright to Fletcher and more.
The attention to detail is excellent - the classic misspelling of the Blankety Blank answer that always seemed to happen, the accurate sound cues, the little bits of the sets that made it in throughout the sketch... wonderful.
Notice also "WD" on the front sheet of the What's My Line numbers, as in War Department, though I think when the letters were stamped on military supplies they had a broad arrow above them, not a crown.
Indeed! When English comedy parodies game shows, they get everything you mentioned including props, toteboards, everything. Most American game show parody sets aren't done to this sort of craftsmanship, presumably to keep production budgets down.
With the exception of Foil, Arms and Hogs. Check them out on RUclips, there like the modern-day two ronnies cross with Monty Python but with a bit of Irish humour.
Well done you. How are you going to hide the fact that you are a complete imbecile when you’re making comments like that? Tut tut, yet again you’ve failed miserably!!
Back in the day all the family would have laughed at this. Pure genius writing by Ronnie Barker. Barker, Morecambe and Cooper 3 of the greatest comedians Britain ever produced.
Sad to hear the other comedy Genius Ronnie Corbett died today. A truly GREAT artist and for me one the funniest men on TV with a phenomenal ability to adapt as the years went by. Simply BILLIANT. RIP
@carolcalf2032 because they cater to the lowest common denominator now. Not for general enjoyment, they just need ratings because they want the money. There are so many people who have no sense of propriety and they are the ones they cater to because they will watch anything.
I am a Judge myself. "12 Angry Men" where Henry Fonda played the main role, both in film and in context, being my favourite film, produced in 1958, before I was even born raises in my mind the same question
@@asterix811 Leslie Crowther hosted " The Price is Right " and Eamonn Andrews hosted " Whats my Line " in the 50's ... ( David Jacobs , Emma Forbes and Hugh Dennis also had series ).
Best humour on the planet !!! Pure quality !! There are NO scriptwriters today of the same mental calibre to think.... such as the men & women of the bygone era only recently passed, not that long ago because today they can't think intelligent and the passion & drive is gone out of the writer's imagination ..... inept! Today, I believe we have stepped back into a mental void! So sad. I thank all the men & women who contributed to these creations.❤
Never got to see this, in years of watching "The Two Ronnies" on the PBS station in Chicago (WTTW) and being an avid lover of game shows, this was absolute GENIUS!
+Ian Turner "...Doctor Two from Doctor Who....". ....And the tormented priest in "The Omen" - a fine performance from him in what is a classic horror film.
Courtroom trials would certainly have been a lot funnier had the 2 Ronnies and Patrick Troughton thought to go into that line of work! Hilariously funny! 😂🤣🙃🤪👍👍
The days when comedy could be viewed by all the family, everyone got the joke, from kids to granny, no-one was offended and the sketches were clever, saucy as well as funny.
They don't make Trials like they used to.
Patrick Troughton always added a touch of class to anything he appeared in.
Especially doctor who
I’ve seen this sketch so many times over the years and I’ve only just realised that it’s Patrick Troughton playing the judge!😂
Dying with laughter over here. Glad I've lived in a time when this was the norm and classic comedy.

I get your sarcasm.
Always nice to see Patrick Troughton my favourite Doctor in anything. Superb actor and nice chap.
So utterly brilliant, sending up both our classic game shows and the games played in court.
Totally insane, loved it.
These guys were so innovative at the time, both equally funny and talented.
These two will forever be my top favourite comedy double act. Ronnie Barker, in particular, is one of my favourite comic actors. I love so many of his characters, from Arkwright to Fletcher and more.
Oct 2020 and I don't have a clue why this has been recommended to me, but I'm not complaining. Comedic genius at its best. Bless 'em all.
That is a nearly perfect sketch. Absolutely enormous talent.

Hillarious stuff from much happier times! No swearing, just absolute comedic genius and talent. There's nothing as good as this now in 2020 :-(
All English comedy was hilarious with no swearing. It was actually funny. Thats why they were so popular.
@@brendaeulenstein4255 Hmmm, Dave Allen swore a bit and caused some issues :)
I don't think it's funny at all.

You can definately tell Patrick really enjoying himself here.
I remember watching this and thinking it was amazing comedy, I still think it is amazing.
Some good clean sketch comedy.
This is hilarious
Brilliant of these Two Icons, their Legacies Will Live On, May You Rest in Peace, Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, 'God Bless' You Both XX
Back in the day all the family would have laughed at this.
Pure genius writing by Ronnie Barker.
Barker, Morecambe and Cooper 3 of the greatest comedians Britain ever produced.
Morecambe & Wise and Tommy Cooper were fairly good, but not in the same class as the Two Ronnies.
And Ken Dodd.
How do 273 people not like this? Genius, old school comedy that is the stroke of genius, even to this day :)
I'd say 273 people appear not to have a sense of humour, what a dull life they must lead.
I can't believe I've never seen this sketch before! Classic 🤣
I still love this !! Oh I wish all trials would go this way; what a load of fun for both defendants, plaintifs and not to forget the audience !
OMG - i had no idea these guys were so freaking funny!! have to find more. 😋😂🌷🌱
Look for 4 candles, and the Mastermind sketches, but everything is pretty much ok!
Just stumbled on this after the Swan ballet skit- I loved Whats My Line and adore British humor. Classic. Thank you!!!

I haven't laughed so much in ages watching this. Patrick Troughton is so good at comedy
thats all he did with Frazer find funny bits in doctor who
"What was the conclusion of the police".
'He was dead"
😃😀
I thought he was going to say "Suicide"!
Hahahaha!!!!Police is the same all over the world, you know....
A game show in a serious moment. That is brilliant.
I loved watching these growing up it was the highlight of my TV viewing.
Patrick Troughton was a legend

I haven't seen this before.
Just perfect.
As a law student have to say this skit ranks on the level where Lord Denning gave Noddy a good behaviour bond for drunk driving
RIP Ronnie Corbett, Ronnie Barker and of course, Patrick Troughton :(
I had no idea Patrick Troughton did comedy ? Only remember him as the 2nd Dr Who.

How did they even rehearse such lines? They’re so good, it looks like impromptu.

That statement was so contradictory it could've been in a sketch by these two.
