Hi Kevin..I have Excel through Office365 at work. In a previous version I could set up a workbook as view only but allow it to be edited with a password. Is that set up still available? Where is it? I used to right click the workbook and select options to do it previously
Just when you think you're an Excel whiz, Kevin shows you that you're just a beginner and have been doing things the hard way. I can make use of MOST of these tips - thank you so much! Already bookmarked the video for future reference.
Wow! So much new tips I didn't know before! This is certainly a video in which I'll have to stop-and-play to write down every instruction listed. Thanks for sharing, Kevin!
Super stoked to learn new tips and tricks, especially from you, Kevin. Love your clear and concise explanations and examples. You are on the top of my favorites👍😎👏
Thank you so much for this video! The Flash fill tip literally blew my mind! It will save us so much time. Can't wait to share this with my team at work. Thanks a million.
Thanks Kevin. I found your channel quite recently and use Excel everyday for various projects, so it is great to learn some new methods and functions that I can use with them.
just came across your excel videos do you have any videos or can recommend ones on how to create a personal budget and one to track your finances for tax season for a novice excel user I think in Australia our taxes info would be a bit different to yours in terms of data to collect and submit just after some basic tutorials or templates to get my head around how to do both of these thank you Keven 🙂
Thank you so much, Kevin. I have been learning a lot from you. Can you show me a shortcut to unhide a row of hidden cells? I have a group of hidden rows and I want to unhide them individually from top to bottom. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Nice video Kevin! A question: Custom lists used to be saved in our local machine registry instead of being saved in the excel file, so when you share the file, the order stayed but the other person in another machine couldn't use the custom list to order. Is it still the same way as of today? It's a really neat feature but this limitation seems so odd.
Can you give a value to a cell without the number appearing in the cell. For example the cell has a drop down yes or no, Yes is 20% and no is 0%. Then have a cell at the end that calculates the total percentage
Kevin, I tried to move my taskbar several times, but it doesn't work. I even tried to move it to left and right and that does work either. Has Microsoft deleted this feature?
I have found flashfill useful to do a column with email addresses for people in my company when I have only their names. It can then be used for mail merge.
Hi .. I help in Merging .. I have two workbooks..each workbook has two tabs... each tab has two set of data(one set row 1-100 other set 105 to 205) how to combine them .
Kevin, Very nice presentation using the full potential of Excel and now I need some snicker-doodle cookies for lunch. One difficulty I have with Excel is joining many different Excel files for tax season. For my customers I have a separate Excel invoice. All invoices are formatted exactly the same. How can I search all the Excel files and get the total amount billed for the year? I currently have to open up each invoice, then type in the invoice amount into another separate Excel file. It takes all day!! Do you have any ideas?
You can point to cells in other workbooks e.g., in a cell, as an example, type in ='C:\Users\Kevin\[WorkbookName.xlsx]WorkSheetName'!$A$2... you can use these references in a formula like sum to add up the total across all the invoices. If your invoice numbers simply increment up, you can bulk create the references. To manage all the links, you can click on Data and then Edit Links. That'll show you all references to other workbooks. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much, Kevin. I have been learning a lot from you. Can you show me a shortcut to unhide a row of hidden cells? I have a group of hidden rows and I want to unhide them individually from top to bottom. I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Click in the top left corner of the cells and rows and then right click and select unhide. That’ll show all rows and columns in two clicks.
@@KevinStratvert Thank you for your quick response, Kevin. I really appreciate it.
thanks
Nice video Kevin! A question:
Custom lists used to be saved in our local machine registry instead of being saved in the excel file, so when you share the file, the order stayed but the other person in another machine couldn't use the custom list to order. Is it still the same way as of today? It's a really neat feature but this limitation seems so odd.
That’s my understanding, the custom list is only on your local PC and doesn’t follow the Excel sheet if you share it.
@@KevinStratvert That would be a really nice feature to be added to future updates.
Thank you @Kavin! I like to know that what do you for zooming the screen?
I adjust the display scaling, so things appear larger and then key frames in DaVinci Resolve for zooming in and out.
@@KevinStratvert thanks for responding. Please make a video on it, whenever you get time. I like that feature a lot.
Here’s a video I did on it a while back: How to Zoom In & Out on Screen Recording
