Hi Drew, The days weather steadily improved through the walk giving some cracking views and the bright sky on Carn a' Mhaim was just the icing on the cake. Cheers, Charlie
Hi Mike, Hi Charlie, thanks for sharing your adventure as always. Always great to see the Cairngorms. Not the sharp rugged peaks of the west, but just as beautiful and impressive in their own way! Dad and I are out and about in the lakes again this Friday!
Hi Dave, Have a great day on Friday and I hope the weather is kind to you. The Cairngorms is always and enjoyable outing although the days tend to be long with a bit of effort just to get to the hills 🙂 Cheers, Charlie
I remember thinking that maybe I wouldn't like the Cairngorms after visiting places like Torridon. I changed my mind when I went to the Cairngorms and loved the giant hills, mountains and forests. It does have a look of it's own and that is the good thing about Scottish scenery, it is very varied and each area looks different to the next
Great stuff once more Charlie.I like your typically understated style. You show really well that nothing is too difficult if you are prepared & have a degree of confidence.Abviously your bags of experience shines through & gives people(including me) confidence to push outside their comfort zone.I agree with some of the other posts. The Cairngorms is quite different from anyway else in Scotland.I Sometimes I fancy Skye,Glencoe or Torridon & at other times a long day on the plateux.Thats what makes Scotland so special. The variety & various different levels of difficulty. And that's coming from an Englishman albeit with a Scottish Father.I get up as often as I can,to walk of course.Well done Chaps, keep em coming.Jamie👍
Hi Jamie, I agree with regards to the variety of regions around Scotland. Terrific contrast of landscape and that's before you add the variations of the seasons. The Cairngorms are unique and present different challenges to get across all the tops. As the years roll on the challenge of these hills allow us the opportunity to push/touch the envelops of capabilities. Fingers cross the knees hold out a bit longer 😂. Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers, Charlie.
Great video in a very special place. My first Scottish Hills experience in the bothy in Aug 1978. Compleated on Carn a' Mhaim Aug 2019. You boys certainly like big routes, many thanks for sharing.
Hi Rich, You'll certainly have some terrific memories of this place.. just magic. It's that time of year when the longer days are possible before the shorter nights kick in and things slow down a bit. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
I always check your videos before going out Charie. Tried this route yesterday from Linn of Dee. Did the traverse but my legs were too tired to add Carn a Mhaim to the list. Settled with the 4. That was quite an effort to add in the 5th, especially going up it through the heather and without a path!
Hello, Well done on get around these big beasts and the settled weather would certainly help you to fully enjoy the day. Your hill fitness must be up there as the Cairngorms always give bigger than normal days. Great effort. Cheers
Another great video gents. Some of your commentary and what you were wearing, alluded to that is wasn’t warm for the first half of your walk. I find the Cairngorms have an appeal all of their own, quite different to the jagged peaks of the Western Highlands. The views you captured were stunning, quite beautiful. I have looked at doing most of your route myself, but didn’t factor in Carn a’ Mhaim. A big day, both with ascent and mileage and remaining consistently high for a lot of it. Really enjoyed the video, thank you.
Hi Jonathan, The Cairngorms is quite special and its height and vastness has a lot of appeal. Carn a' Mhaim isn't normally included but that's just the Munro bagging coming out in us as it was a single we needed to repeat. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Brian, A good day even although the weather was a bit late in arriving. Such a vast area with spectacular views as you'll know. Thanks for taking the time ti view. Cheers, Charlie
Hi lairdoharray, Glad you enjoyed our Cairngorms outing to these bigger tops. It such a super area and well worth a visit. Leaving them for the longer days is a good idea as they are a bit harder to get at them most other Munros. Thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Charlie and Mike what a superb walk OK the weather was a mixed bag but that's Scotland really enjoyed circuit of this area of the cairngorm mountains camera and commentary as usual just brilliant to watch always look forward to your next video cheers
Hi Philip, Many thanks for watching this Cairngorm outing. The hills are looking really well at the moment but things are starting to cold with temperature into single figures on the tops. Cheers, Charlie.
I love those days when the rain and clag blow through to leave the most remarkable clear air in their wake. That's a brilliant route, but no matter how often you walk up there, the distances still remain surprisingly deceptive. Part of the reason I love the Cairngorms so much. The sheer scale of the place never ceases to impress. Nice one 👍
Hi David, Your spot on about the Cairngorms. The distances are very deceptive just because of the size of the landscape. It's a magic place with the added height giving the walker a totally different experience in all season. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Cairnbagger, Its a good walk from either the north or the south and certainly good to get around these big boys before the colder weather arrives. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Charlie/Mike another great video, reminds me of the Ben Alder 6 that you and Mike did earlier this year. Still to do these ones, so thanks for the putting the video together.
great video again. It really surprises me just how fast you pair walk ! That would have been a two-day walk for me even at my "prime" time. Many thanks for sharing ATB
Hi John, We have always kept a reasonable pace through the years but things are starting to slow as the years roll on. Walking as much as possible helps keep the legs in some sort of condition for the bigger days but it doesn't get any easier 😂Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Debbie, Glad you enjoyed our latest outing. It was a mixed day of weather but the Cairngorms are looking really well at this time of year. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Matthew, I prefer broken skies to the clear blue as it certainly gives more contracts to the landscape. The cooler weather is well on its way now as the day started in single figure temperatures... what happened to the summer 😂Cheers, Charlie.
Nice to sit and watch some mountains that I have recently visited Charlie 👍👍 great walk again and typical weather! Claggy and showers then glorious on the way back! Cheers again. Paul
Hi Paul, A bit different to the conditions you had a few weeks back but a good day. The Cairngorms alway give a good challenge and plenty of much needed exercise for our trip to Skye in a few weeks. Cheers, Charlie.
@@charliemccartney7055 look forward to that Charlie! Resigned myself to waiting until next year to visit Skye! A wee bit more experience under my belt by then 👍👍

Hi charlie & Mike, fantastic hike there👏👏 I was over the other side of the cairngorms yesterday at Ben Avon & Beinn a Bhuid, had similar weather Charlie, clear then a few rain showers moving thru, very windy up on the plateaus. It’s always a long day in the gorms and you captured your hike beautifully. After watching your vid I’m not too sure which way to approach my last 4 in the gorms which are the first 4 you did. Whether to come in from the sugar bowl or linn of Dee. Any helpful hints Charlie.?
Hi Frank, I've completed these four from both the north and south. My preference is from the south but its 50/50. I find the choice of clockwise or anticlockwise depending upon what the wind doing is an easier decision when in at the bothy. Cheers, Charlie
Great vlog Charlie. I’m coming up in a couple of weeks to do your first 3 Munro’s on this outing. Do you know if there is a bike hire shop in Braemar. I think the cycle in will cut time and miles. Staying in Braemar and doing the Lochnagar circuit the same week. Keep em coming fellas.
Hi David, Try Braemar Mountain Sports for bike hire. I haven't used them but you can check them out online. Hope you have some settled weather for you adventures as your plans are covering so superb areas. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Sam, Yes, it’s about that area. There is some trees you can leave the bikes and before you cross the burn and start taking height. Hope you have a cracking day 👍 Cheers
Hello, We left the bikes just before the river crossing about 2km passed Derry Lodge. The path starts gaining height just after this and there's a small crop of trees for locking the bikes. Cheers
