😂 can relate to those BTS clips at the end ! The amount of times weather ruins stops me from filming is uncountable ⛈ Great informative video by the way, learnt some new things about the key fob ! Hope you're enjoying NZ.
Thanks mate, I am sure just about everyone how makes content can relate to how much time off screen goes to creating time on screen. ☺️ Truth be told, I got back from NZ ages ago, but hadn't got round to editing this one for a while. 😉
I agree the Tesla app is not 100% reliable, however, I reckon it's successful about 19 out of 20 entries for me. On a side note I often park and leave my phone in the car (with Bluetooth on the phone turned off) and rely on Apple Watch apps to get access: mainly Watchla and Xiaote, which is bluetooth only, as a backup if Watchla fails. I don't carry any keys, we use an August smart lock at home.
I would mostly likely forget to turn out bluetooth on the phone and I don't know what kind of neighbourhood you're parking in, but I wouldn't leave anything in my car, let alone my phone. 🤣 Glad it's working out for you so far.
@@notacarguy_au only during daylight hours: Mornington Peninsula beaches while I go for a swim in the bay. It's a Tesla, lots of hiding spots for valuables 😜
The other issue is not only is the Phone App not that reliable, but the Tesla app sucks the power out of my phone, so having the Key Fob is a great way not to worry about killing your cell phone battery just close the Tesla App and use the Key FOB!
very good review thank you. I am happy that I do not have to carry a keyfob between my Model Y key card, iPhone app and Watchla app on my Watch and I am a very happy guy…NO KEY FOB
Yep, agree with that. In fact we just got that digital lock for our house and so I don't have to carry any keys anymore. Have shot a video for it and editing it now. Still not quite used to not grabbing the keys before I head out yet. ☺️
Do you have your Tesla app to run all the time? This makes unlock more reliable and die not seen to eat battery. Also, did you know that you can use your phone the same way that you use the key card by tapping on the B pillar? Obviously not going to lock automatically, but handy nevertheless.
Thanks, I didn't know that about the phone. I've got an app that allows me to use my watch as a key too, I wonder if that would also work? I suppose it would.
Its still dumber than most regular cars fobs though isn't it? For instance, on my other car, being near the car with the fob does NOT unlock it, that requires my to press a button on the door handle (or pull the handle), not only that, but I need to be next to the SPECIFIC door I am trying to unlock from. This means someone can't open the car just because the fob is in the general vicinity of the car.
Perhaps that’s one of the reasons it doesn’t come with the cars anymore? Though getting in the car won’t do folks much good. Can’t get too far without it.
20 years of experience in production helps. 😉 I've got it taped to the inside of my shirt on my chest going to the camera via a wireless transmitter. The mic is in a fluffy to help cut down on the wind noise too.
@@lowspeed2000 Thanks, though if you look really closely, I actually didn't do a perfect job of hiding it. Look under the SP in mu t-shirt and you can see the "scunch" of the tape holding the mic has made the shirt not perfectly flat. Always room for improvement. Though in my defence this was like the 3rd time I had tried to shoot this video and I was on vacation with the family, so wasn't on my A game. 😉
I am not sure why we need to know all this features of remote when this has bee around for ages. Just because it has now fancy name as key fob intead of car keys..this is insane how tesla does things where people dont mind spending so much without any reason😅
Once again, another great video. I agree regarding not getting the key fob, as the whole idea with using the phone as a key is to reduce the amount of stuff you carry around.

Kia Ora Lee. I always wondered what happen to the key FOB. Great info, Thank you
Kia Ora, mate. ☺️
You need to get a RFID finger ring that works with Tesla's check on line and try one!
I've looked at those, but haven't thought they would be that useful.
If you have a Tesla Model Y with standard autopilot, are you able to use the summon function if you purchase the key fob?
Sorry but no, you need to purchase the enhanced autopilot or full self driving to get the Summon feature.

Whilst the app can be a bit finiky from time to time, overall it's still really convenient.

You must have gone to the same school I did. The Derek Zoolander Center for Children Who Can’t Read Good
Yeah, I don't read or talk so good. 🤣🤣🤣

How did you get such good audio? Where's the mic?
