I like the explanation that if a Sayian, in their base form, surpasses the power of their great ape transformation, the tail, if lost, stops growing again. I don't know if it's ever stated that Goten and Trunks were born without their tails, because otherwise it could simply be said that their parents yanked them out early on, knowing how dangerous they were.

I still miss the tails. They’re such a great symbol of everything Saiyans are imo and really help to distinguish them from humans. Minor correction about the recessive gene thing; it's only recessive in hybrids. All full-blooded Saiyans are born with tails, but half-Saiyans are highly likely to be born without one. It's not completely impossible for a half-Saiyan to have a tail, but it would be very rare. Gohan is one such example.

Honestly this really just makes me appreciate how cool gotten and trunks really are, I feel like no one talks enough about how they are the youngest super saiyans. I know they don’t get a lot of focus in the story so they haven’t really gotten past their ssj forms yet but it’s still cool to see them grow and be an amazing duo of characters.
It would be cool if they made it to where you had to have your tail wished off like Goku or something like that in order to go ssj3. in lore it's all about Blutzwaves aka the moon. saiyans are like space wereapes. without the moon the Ozaru cells dont develop. S cells occur after Zenkai boost. Since Ozaru was their ace they often would create Blutzwaves balls to annihilate enemies. Therefore they didn't make use of Zenkai boost.
COMBINING SSJ AND OOZARU = getting in the way. Piccolo: UUUUUUHHHHH YE TURNED SUPER SAIYAN AS A GREAT APE! WERE ALL DOOMED! Vegeta & Goku: nah it's just getting in the way.

it doesn't weaken them it just really hurts almost akin to having a cramp in your leg your not weaker it's just the nature and area of the pain that makes it hard to use your legs while it's cramping

The tail realistically was a great improvement. You could jusr nullify the tail weakness which Vegeta did and mastered his great ape form. Now coupling that with the transformations you're good. But we all know the real reason

Goten having a tail wouldn't have bothered Chi-Chi in all likelihood, so him not having a tail could have been just a flip of the genetic coin. We also know Universe 6 Saiyans don't have tails at all(even though Akira Toriyama wouldn't have needed to have drawn them on a regular basis). This is probably because he wanted to cement the idea of reaching the potential of unlocking Super Saiyan leading to them disappearing. Universe 6 Saiyans seem to have a fairly easy time achieving the transformation.
