There are around 6 different cartels operating in Mexico now, all very dangerous, some more powerful than others. Its a shame that citizens are caught in the middle, many forced to cooperate.

Fun fact: Although they portray the location of the story in Phoenix, Arizona.. El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico... The majority of this movie was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The hotel they meet at is right down the road from Heisenberg's super lab in Breaking Bad

Yes 👍🏽 MARIAN …you are right…the POLITICIANS enjoy the $$$ from the CARTELS while the regular people die. 😢💔 I’m from a border state and it’s horrible to see the regular people suffer and want to flee. Past PRESIDENT offered to help with the military but the LEADERS refused. I love one of the lead actor’s BENICIO DEL TORO he has played in some INCREDIBLE MOVIES. JOSH BROLIN played an excellent character in “OLD MEN WITH NO COUNTRY”. I always enjoy your reactions.

Actually the word Sicario comes from the "Sica"- a short sword or dagger used by the Thracians, Dacians and Illyrians. It was the main weapon of the Thracian type gladiator (or Thraex).

@11:42 "smurf" is slang for one of many very low level participants in a money laundering effort. It refers to an American cartoon series featuring a bunch of identical little cartoon characters who run around in a big mass and look more or less identical. "Smurfs" are typically used to deposit sums of cash (usually under $10,000 which is the the mandated government reporting threshold in the US) into bank accounts. In this way, a drug organization can get money into the account hoping to avoid the government being notified of a large cash deposit. For example, a drug dealer/organization has $200,000 it wants to get into a bank account. It can't put it all in at once as cash (without the bank notifying the government) so it hires 25 "smurfs" for a small percentage (say $500 each or even less) to each deposit $8,000 into the bank account (usually multiple accounts actually that are later aggregated together). Later the money is all combined, wired out of the country before the government gets wiser. This is a very simplistic explanation of money laundering but it explains what a "smurf" is. The activity is called "smurfing." Hope that helps.

You are right that it is the common people that suffer. Reading about the kings of old and the things they and the royalty did to maintain their power, grow their wealth and keep everyone else in their place, you realize that nothing has really changed. It is pretty much the same, just the context and the work has changed. But the powerful continue to make laws to keep the common folk down and keep themselves in the place of power and luxury compared to everyone else. Great reaction and analysis.

They were hoping Kate was angry enough to do what it took. She lost people in her command and they were hoping she was smart enough to see that they were fixing nothing. They were wrong and she became a burden. This operation began because of a war between the cartels that was taking a lot of life and disrupting the government Mexico. At the end, the 😅cartel boss has a line that it was the American government taught the cartels how to operate he’s not completely wrong during the Reagan administration, the cartel was used to transport personnel and firearms for the contras. cartels brought cocaine into America. The Mexican trampoline.

My favorite reactors! This movie is the shining of a little tiny light on a very dark part of life. Many of the characters are dead inside. That's how they sit at the dinner table with their families after destroying someone else's families. It tells you that, in their world, only evil can destroy the evil out there. Don't go too far down that hole in your thinking. There's no value in it, for anyone. You're right about corruption, Marian, but the goal isn't the destruction of people. It's the control of people. It's power. And money. And they don't mind causing mindless pain and anguish to get there. You won't choose corruption. Either of you. And goodness will win, in the end. It's just a movie. God bless you both!

You are totally wrong. When evil exist, you must always show the alternative. Blunt’s character behaved like she was in USA, her problem is she had no experience working in a country, where the Drug culture owns the country.
